Freelance (2023)
Amusing and surprising if you're paranoid
The acting is surprisingly good, considering the cost, and the plot is plainly surprising it's not at all when I thought it would be and that's very good. Actually it's part of the reason why I gave it to 7.
I especially like the parts where it's not actually sexually oriented which is a new high for this type of movie.
To conclude the plot code the acting is good. It's an action movie which means that it's not all news and weird plot twists and it's a vanilla movie but it is thoroughly enjoyable. I liked it very much compared to other items of the genre.
I really do not have anything to really complain about everything was fine, not perfect. Not excellent but fine.
The Beekeeper (2024)
Fun and predictable and unrealistic in the extreme
The beekeeper is an action packed movie naturally, since it's Jason Statham, in the main role!
The acting is fair, it's not something to get excited over either way. The combat scenes are properly choreographed, well the scenes with talking moving the plot forward is fairly smooth.
You have to suspend any critical thinking, but it is enjoyable watching him kick ass as usual with some popcorn, Coke or a beer. It's an afternoon other than that. The only spectacular thing about this movie is it's lack of originality which works for me since I had an afternoon off With nothing better to do!
I wish they used real honey in one scene instead of using water, but that's the only thing I'm really bothered about actually 😃
Panama (2022)
Shakes
This is not bad but the wtf camera shaking drives me nuts!
Gibson is the only good actor here...unfortunately he can't save this.
Might be good unless you're hungover.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Getting tired
This is not the book, if you start with that you wont be so dissapointed. First of all, please please, almost nothing on the air deserves 1 or 10 and this is neither horrible or exaltedly epic. This is simply a good show made from the books of Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. To start off, the cast can be compared to Harry Potter in that it is fairly unknown and inexperienced, the scenes are often gritty and dirty as well as grand views of mountains and old ruins. The series follows rather closely at times the books and at other times it takes a grand leap to the side. This is all well and good i think, just always keep in mind that its not supposed to be a carbon copy of the books because what would be the fun in that. All in all its a really well made series with a cast that can act, character development and a stately pace through all 14 books, dont stress out if you dont get where you want to be just because it takes some time!
Kate (2021)
Well made with a female lead
This is not an original concept (Crank) but it is much better. Gritty, tough and actually quite believable story and development followed through with good action scenes ala Kill Bill.
It is in a word: Enjoyable!
F9 (2021)
Simply too much
I have seen all the fast and furious movies, they have gone up and down in quality and as usual the first movie was the best in my opinion... First of all: 9 is simply more and worse of everything and so over the top that you would have to be five not to discredit every single scene.
Second: The acting is getting more wooden and hollow which makes it even less believable which is a shame since all the actors have done this a few times now. I mean, catching a flying car in your special stealth fighter plane?? No this is it, i am clocking out.
Pennyworth (2019)
A parallell universe
Pennyworth is a well acted, thought thru with excellent cgi and surroundings. i have gone thru half a season and it is my favorite of the year =)
i was a bit offended at first when i saw punishments fit for the 15th century and such but upon reading about it i concluded that it had to be in a "fictive universe" which is abit moronic but i hope you all understand what i mean?
all in all it has action, drama, plot and powder so i can do naught but recommend it for all above 15 years of age =)
Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016)
Scary but not gory glory
I really enjoyed this movie mostly because it's not one of those Glory Glory movies that seems to have taken up most of the space on the horror movie shelf. It is pretty fast paced it has also a rather good cast excellent acting and not too much CGI effects neither bad nor good which makes the movie more dependent on actual plot and acting, in my opinion it's one of the best horror movies/type of horror movie we have so far!
Monsters of Man (2020)
A great sci-fi movie
I don't understand the bad reviews about this movie. It is a nice action flick with very good special effects. Good actors and a very believable story (considering is sci-fi)
Give it a chance!
The New Mutants (2020)
Original with a side of magick
Don't listen to the bad reviews, this is not a brain dead action movie but a thriller/horror
I went in on this with no preconceptions and I was rewarded!
Nice plot/origins story and very well acted by the 20 ies pretending to be tweens or so haha. Good character development and very nice camera work, all in all as long as you don't trundle in with a comic book in tow it's a very very good origins story and a good movie with a new take on the whole mutant saga!
Don't delete it this time!!
Helstrom (2020)
Surprising depth and entertaining story
This has a Supernatural feel to it, i mean the series of course as everything abut this series is supernatural.
good character development, nice ambience, not too much gore, good actors and a fairly good PC cast along with good balancing act between the siblings.
All in all i like it. alot.
The 2nd (2020)
No, just no...
Poor acting, poor dialog, poor special effects and badly choreographed.
I like Ryan in almost everything he has done but this is not good just listening with no picture is cringeworthy when you hear the dialog...Just dont.
Enola Holmes (2020)
No Cigar
Young Enola Holmes embarks on her first mission as a detective and in the process she naturally beats the best (man) detective in the world and foils a plot to put women in their subservient place (yaay). it really isnt very original and although well played by the actors it feels a bit too much like a PC movie which takes away from the experience for me, but perhaps i am only projecting.
Tangled (2010)
The story about the dangerous shut in
This is a story about a dangerous shut-in that stumbles upon an unsuspecting thief whom she promptly assaults with a deadly weapon, she continues to batter him, torture him, steals from him then starts blackmailing him and finally manage to make him break her out from jail. all in all a pretty standard Disney movie for very young children of America
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
So unfair
A good, convoluted series, very believable except for the Swedes, everybody knows Swedes don't lik cats, it's so weird it almost destroyed the series for me...JK it's all good :-)
Warrior Nun (2020)
Finally a new worthy Buffy
Basically Buffy with demons instead of vampires, very nice acting and fighting scenes considering it's a tv show and not a huge budget movie, I highly recommend it!
The Old Guard (2020)
Made to fit!
There are a lot of female adaptation movies where they cut out the guy and move in the female, which makes the lead less than attractive (at least to me) and the way i see this movie is : Action movie for a female lead who can act better than most actors regardless of gender as well as a good support cast and more than average script (for an action movie) which ended in an awesome movie with good action sequences as well as a good plot, character development and a general good feel vibe. LOVE IT.
The Rhythm Section (2020)
Female Assassin Junior
Finally a role made for a woman and not some psychotic serial killer monster! The movie start slowly but builds up momentum thru out and the action is well done and rather believable in its dirty, unsophisticated way. She builds up from the bottom and in the end she is as good or better than her counterparts which I find compelling, believable and very very frustrating which makes this a better than avarage action thriller in my opinion.
In a way it reminds me of Nikita and I really enjoyed it.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Mediocre but not a total loss
Soo, its not as bad as the Ghostbusters remake.
Its a bit corny, cringy and the fighting scenes are made by a 12 year old and its a bit of a shame to make all the guys in the movie bad guys, but thats basically all the bits and pieces that isn´t great so over all its a fairly watchable movie.
The story line is fairly simple and straight forward, the action pretty okey with the notable exception of the hand to hand combat, the humor is simple. I think it would work well on the 12-14 year old crowd. I dont really agree with all the guys saying its a man hating movie, they just happen to be bad guys all of them.
The Witcher (2019)
Solid Acting, Excellent fighting scenes
I had very high hopes when i sat down to watch the Witcher on Netflix and I was not disappointed. Yes it has a few issues but overall it is well made, solid acting and a lot of time and energy has gone into the fighting scenes. It follows the books closely. The only thing that I felt was not optimal was the time swap scenes which could have been a bit more overt due to the fact that they switch back and forth quite a bit but it did not sway me while rating the show. IT IS WELL WORTH YOUR TIME!
Deliver Us from Evil (2014)
The way it should be Done
Gritty, filled with scares and action combined with solid acting from all involved, a scary movie doesn't get better than this!
Men in Black: International (2019)
Honest review from the right viewpoint
First of all, this isnt MIB with Will Smith and an old grumpy guy, its the new order where a strong female actor has joined a slightly lesser strong male actor. Its just the way it is and it works, according to my view you dont need to belittle the other gender to show off like a hero and they succeed with this. Both actors are solid actors and no cringe worthy moments between them arises.
Good action movie, a bit juvenile at times but thats okey i think, this is not a deep thriller but good fun and good action and an okey story well worth the money if you just drop your preconceptions from former movies and realise that this is a new film.
Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)
Painful with great effects
Short story: exactly the same movie as the original but over the top on everything. They could have killed the kids and old man, scrubbed America first and made an awesome new movie...
The Croods (2013)
Weird Fun
A family trip for the mentally challenged. The movie is fun and the characters strangely charismatic, however it does feel a bit wrong to like it since its basically an individual that hunts, hurts and almost kills another in order to make that person stay in the "relationship". If the roles had be reversed... so imagine a girl being beaten and then kidnapped by a moronic/slightly retarded boy and his psychotic family and taken on a roadtrip, the natural conculsion to that story would be that she falls in love with him? well if you ignore the politics and just enjoy the movie its weird but fun =)
Good Witch (2015)
Short of duckin' Good
Fun and very light, don't take any life decision from it, throw away the creepy major and the duck lips and it would be awesome!
