Un paso adelante (2002–2005)

So ridiculous it makes me laugh
9 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
From one point of view, it's one of the most funny things I've seen on TV. The idiotic adventures of the students of this school are something ridiculous, pathetic and somewhat...funny! It's the parody of a TV show! It can't be otherwise! This show it's too awful to be taken seriously! There is this "famous" school of arts (strange fact: they all say that it's one of the most important schools in Spain, but they are always in trouble because of lack of money), where many "young talents" study in the hope of becoming famous. Meanwhile, these poor but very talented boys and girls have to face various problems (which means only love problems). Also the professors have similar problems (and I ask: but when they study or teach? They are all too occupied in going to bed with each other!). Another funny thing is that even if the students are "so talented, so good, so fantastic", they never succeed in becoming famous: the problem is that they don't know they aren't talented at all, but please keep the secret! As I said, all the episode are centered on the love problems of the characters, with little space dedicated to the lessons (read: modern dance; the other lessons have little importance. If you can't dance you can't stay in the school); as you can imagine, the plot is always the same. The characterization is nearly absent: the students and the professors represents various "types": the talented, poor and lucky guy, the rich and spoiled one, the girl who wants to show she can succeed without recommendation, the good and responsible girl, the girl with a troubled past... Don't misunderstand me. The show is really awful, bad written and bad acted. It's a real suffering for the soul if you don't watch it from the perspective I've written before.

Gossip Girl (2007–2012)
2/10
I will never watch it again...
9 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I hate this show! My sister is a big fan of it so I was obliged to watch almost all the episodes! I don't really understand why so many people love it... Well, maybe the idea of the blogger was good, but was badly developed and put into a stereotyped fiction where we can find all the clichés about rich teenagers: there is the bad girl who tries to be good, her friend-boyfriend-lover without personality, the spoiled rich girl who loves the spoiled rich boy...Gossip Girl (the blogger who knows everything about the main characters) is perfectly unnecessary: she's only a pathetic excuse, another way to give the story something original when originality lacks (the plot is boring: it's so full of old ideas); her continuous remarks become irritating after a while. I hate all the characters, first of all Serena: she's so depressing and not convincing in the role of the redeemed girl! Funny fact: the Itlian dubber only betters her...I watched with my sister some of the original episodes and I tried not to laugh when I noticed that she spoke like a dog! Blair is hateful: she's the classical "intelligent & evil" character, who can ruin whoever tries to surpass her. Most of the people find her fantastic, but I think she's only a spoiled brat. I'm sure that in the real life most of her fans would hate a girl like her. Dan Humphrey...the only thought makes me laugh. He's the image of the good, intelligent, romantic, sweet (etc...) guy who lacks a personality and is lost in the cruel world around him. Even Chuck Bass isn't well characterized: is handsome, bastard, fascinating...too much for my own tastes. I don't understand the role of Nate in the entire story. So, don't watch this show. Please.

Hercules (1997)

Not one of the best Disney movies, but...
9 January 2010
Far form being one of my favorites Disney movies (and one of the best ones at all), I believe it's a nice movie, where humor, serious moments and Disney's main themes (friendship, love, loyalty,) are mixed up well, even if it has nothing to do with the original myth (but this doesn't ruin the film at all). However, the real reason I like this movie is Hades, a perfect villain in my own opinion: evil but also very funny, especially when he argues with Pain and Panic, his two followers. As for the soundtrack (which is really an important part of Disney productions), I have to say that it's not the best one I know: if you take other movies, such as "Aladdin" or "The Lion King" you will find better songs. However, it's not so bad: some songs are very nice!

Merlin (2008–2012)

Not the real Merlin
7 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
A TV show about young Merlin was not a bad idea. I was really interested in a story about the early age of the great wizard. So I was full of expectations when I first watched this show. Unfortunately, all my hopes faded away after the first vision. That's not the real Merlin! It's just a normal teenager who has magical powers and whose name is Merlin, but has nothing to do with the famous wizard! The producers could have called the show "Richard" or "William" and nothing would have changed. Then...Merlin in love with Gwen? It's ridiculous! The entire setting was absurd: it wasn't Middle Age, it was an American high school! The main characters behaved like four contemporary teenagers with their love & friends problems! The problems Merlin has with his powers are the same a nerd has in a stereotyped teen-drama and Arthur is like the captain of the football team. I have nothing against loose interpretation, but this is too much! Vote: 3/10

Cory in the House (2007–2008)
2/10
Awful and not funny.
7 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Why did they have to do a spin-off from a show which wasn't so funny? Seriously. "Cory in the House" is not a funny show. First of all, I don't even understand why Cory is "in the House": the fact that his father is a cook to me is not a satisfying explanation. His father works at the White House, and so Cory (why not also the rest of the family?) can live there and do whatever he wants? ...I think there's a big hole in the plot! Then, all the jokes, all the characters and all the situation are unrealistic. I officially hate the little girl (the president's daughter): she's not cute, she's irritating, like most of the "cute little girls" in this kind of shows. Cory's friend are only stupid: their jokes don't make me laugh and to be honest I've had enough of stupid characters meant to be funny because lack of ideas! Why not to create an intelligent and witty one? One of the worst Disney Channel show ever.
