Gone Fishin' (1997)
"Down in the Ever-Glades"!
This is just a great film. Why on earth are people rating it so low and calling it bad? It's not a bad movie, its one of the best movies I've ever seen!! Joe Pesci and Danny Glover together on a fishing trip? Comedy awesomeness right there! I think the people that hated the awesome innocent family movies like this are just stupid. They go for the action shooter thriller WHATEVER movies, and thats cool but its not cool to hate on a film that is great just because of that. I have great taste in movies, so I know what I'm talking about. I like the modern movies, and know that most of the cutesy fun-filled family movies (that, not to mention, have music written specifically for them) are back in the 70s and 80s. I'm drawn to those types of movies the same as modern thrillers, if not more than. "Gone Fishin'" is a 1997 movie, and proof that the modern era still makes those fun filled great family films. PESCI AND GLOVER 4 LIFE!!
Buy this film, and have fun Fishin'!
Avatar (2009)
Not Bad......yet "Oooooh dear!"
I thought it was a good movie, but Only after 1 time. I watched it 3 times, not out of obsession, but out of options that I pretty much didn't want to say no to. I went with my friend (first time), second time I took my other friend who hadn't seen it (I said 'oh i wont mind it again....still pretty good yet it got more boring), third time a girl asked me to go so I'm not gonna say no. The third time I just said screw it, that wasn't that entertaining. Although, I'm not a fan of the reviews on IMDb, such opinion could be thought of because I've seen better movies than this action thriller visual affect jumble, but most people on IMDb just do good reviews and ratings for those types of movies, even if they aren't that great. My point is, I just didn't enjoy Avatar as much as I thought (I still liked it). I mean, 8 1/2 stars? Umm I don't think so. And then I look up another movie here that I LOVE to death, way better than Avatar will ever be (it's called Gone Fishin'), and it had only 4 stars and a bunch of bad reviews! Come on! It had great music, great acting, a great plot, and it was a wicked funny movie! No animation, no space aliens or "Navi".....just a good old movie. Sorry, Avatar.......but you aren't on my top list. I just found the plot of Avatar really weird and after a while, annoying. And I hated Neytiri. What's with her freakin screaming for crying? First time I heard that (even though the first time was the time I enjoyed it the most), I wanted to punch someone, most likely her.
Monster Garage (2002)
It was a great, innovative show! Monster Garage....can't believe it ended!!
O Monster Garage, where art thou? Monster Garage is a TV show that spanned from 2002 to 2005 (I may be wrong, but I know it started in 2002). The first episode involved a machine built out of an early 90s Ford Mustang GT (V6 I think) that could cut grass at 120 miles per hour. On a quarter mile, this thing would mow at just about 99 mph. Want to mow the yard fast so you can relax with your friends? This monster is for you. The monsters built in this show were incredible; a wide selection of plots going from a 1980s Pontiac Firebird transformed into a Santa float, to a Ford 20-passenger school bus turned into a luxury party pontoon boat! Crazy Monsters were to come, like an RV skate ramp and an RV Funhouse. The teamwork and concentration contributed into the monsters, and learning how to fabricate as you watched is what made the show, along with the humorous thing that Jesse and the Monster Garage crews throw in there as they build; and the fact that each monster is wacky and creative. People say Jesse was sick of the show and that's why it ended, even though repeatedly he says that It's his job and he loves to do it. I hope Monster Garage comes back to Television, and I can't believe it ended!
Smokey and the Bandit (1977)
"Hold onto yo ass, Fred", cause Smokey and the Bandit is a wild ride!
I saw this movie when I was 8, now I'm 15. that isn't a big gap compared to some people that grew up around the time of Smokey and the Bandit in the 70s, but I am probably the movies biggest fan and loved every minute of it. Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed are awesome and there was a lot of great acting. Putting all the southern good old boy personalities into these characters were great. Here goes the plot: Two truckers, Bandit Darville (Burt Reynolds) and Cledus "Snowman" Snow (Jerry Reed) go on the craziest haul yet when two rich hotshots Big and Little Enos Burdette bet Bandit $80,000 that he can't run up to Texarkana Texas from Atlanta Georgia and back in 28 hours. Bandit can't pass up this good of a bet, it's too much money to pass up...."for the money, for the glory, and for the fun; but mostly for the money". Hauling beer East of Texas out of state is completely illegal and is called "bootlegging", and not tolerated by the law enforcement. Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) is one of those officers out to get the Bandit. The only thing I never understood is that Buford never noticed that Bandit and Snowman were hauling beer, but in fact, Buford was chasing Bandit for speeding (I can understand that), and for "kidnapping" the bride that was supposed to marry Bufords completely dumb son Junior (Mike Henry). In reality, Carrie (Sally Fields), the bride, just wanted a lift from the Bandit. IT is a hilarious film and Jackie Gleasons performance being added just makes it all so much better. This film made the 70s, it was practically what that era was turning into. It was the era of the CB radio, and Smokey and the Bandit definitely defined the CB radio as cool. Great work Universal, you created a masterpiece for all truckers; a 'truckers heaven' if you will.
I recommend this film times 100 to anyone who likes trucks, cars, comedy, CB radios, good actors, good acting, rocking music (East Bound and Down was a big hit, or someone in need of just a good laugh.
