Could easily be a great play on Broadway
17 February 2024
Equal parts of great on-point music with some fantastic acting by Jennifer Lopez. I'm not a huge fan of JLo music but always liked her movies. So I as I watched this movie, JLo made me a fan of her music as well as her acting. Each song, came with amazing dance moves that, worked perfectly with the story. You could tell they took great pains to be sure it wasn't dancing to just dance. The dancing was part of the story. Jennifer Lopez sold it all at level of 100%. Her best acting yet. At one point, I was so sucked in (as if watching a musical at a play) I had forgotten it was JLo about JLo. Honestly, this would be a great play to go see in a theatre. I would watch this again as well as recommend it to my own friends/family.

Very Christmassy & real talent
2 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Christmas special is very retro fun. It reminded me of Christmas specials of Christmas Pasts with big band music, special guests, costume changes and every guest looking like they are having genuinely good time. Hannah has real honest to goodness talent seeping from every pore of her gorgeous self. A very heartfelt moment came with meeting her parents and daughter in which she dedicated a song to them. Truly beautiful moment and song. We also got to see the gang from Ted Lasso have fun with some genuine laughs at their expense as well as the London Gay Men's Choir. I genuinely enjoyed watching it - and was so happy with the way she ended the show. I plan to watch it a few more times. Well done, everyone!

I not understanding why the bad reviews...
20 July 2022
Dakota Johnson has "IT" in this role. She encapsulates Anne Elliot as does Mia playing her sister Mary. This interpretation of Persuasion matches how a person might explain the book to another who doesn't read the -Jane Austin-type books. Sometimes you just have to embrace that type of bravery when a fiilm maker wants to reach a wider audience. They did perfect casting with Dakota Johnson. She embraced the lightness of comedy, she's gives the role of Anne so much life and brightness and so much love. It's a side of Dakota Johnson, I promise, you haven't seen played on the screen before. The way she holds herself, interacts with her family, narration to audience watching, and her British accent - Yes to all of it!! I LOVE it already having watched it twice now. It is my VERY favorite adaptation of Persuasion. I hope you decide to watch it with an open mind.

Slow beginning but then holds you.
10 July 2022
I'm not understanding the bad reviews at all. Sure the beginning was slow but it was setting up the movie and the characters. Once that is done Efron holds you. Efron was sooo good. Sincerely, he did SO well. I've always found him to be a fine actor. However, he's entered a new level here. You believe he is in this horrible situation. I would have given it 10 stars but the very end kind of wrecked the twist they threw in there. Seemed sort of like: "We'll just do this." to end it. With that said, genuinely good story line, twist and acting. I would recommend it to my own friends & family.

Recommend taking a chance on this movie.

I don't get the bad reviews. It's definitely about baseball - hell, the ending alone is 100% what it's like to be in a sport all your life and/or to have a kid in sports. The characters are believable to me. If you've ever been on a sports team of any kind, you definitely know and/or know of characters like these guys. Anyhow, really well written, really well acted and pretty damn funny. What sold it for me was the way it was written at the end. VERY different from all of the other baseball movies out there. Aw man, I got all the feels for my brothers, and mysy in our young days in sports, as well as, the all the feels for my own kids in sports. It elevated the ending of that movie from what could have been just another predictable movie ending. Took it to a new plane. I have already recommended this movie to friends/family.

Watched episode 1: Perfectly casted
25 January 2022
Cynthia Nixon in a new light. She's does splendid in this role! As a matter of opinion, I can't see anyone else playing any of the characters. Each character is perfectly casted. The storyline has me intrigued as I recall being taught that, when New York was coming up, there was a class war that had nothing to do with money nor what country your family descended from but, rather, everything to do with original natives of NY & new members moving into NY. The acting and storyline genuinely have me looking forward to seeing how the storylines play out.

Cage & Chloe Moretz make the movie
23 January 2022
This movie wouldn't have legs to stand on if not for the brilliant casting and chemistry of, "father & daughter" characters, Nicolas Cage and Chloe Grace Moretz. With an entertaining, yet odd storyline, the movie is worth watching just for them. They are so great together you won't mind having to sit through the rest of it.

Cheesy but adorable RomCom
19 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The only thing I hated was the "song & dance number" at the end after bloopers. Otherwise, it was just this cute cheesy little movie about achieving your goal & destiny without having to leave behind love. Good acting with some funny moments.

Ugh! The narrator...why?
31 August 2021
Are they trying to make it "fun"? The information is great but they need to stop with the obnoxious narrator crap. Why can't they just have a regular narrator? What are they trying to prove with this type of narrator? I was so happy to season 2 thinking they must have read all the reviews of people disliking the narrator. So, surely, they changed it (to regular narrator) or rid of it. They changed it - just to a new voice. Ugh!! I'm so torn because I want to continue to watch it but the narrator is just too much. It adds nothing. It takes away from the experience of learning something informative, funny or interesting. Which is a shame because I like the movies they picked out. I wish they would get a clue.

Better than I expected and I'm a musical fan
14 August 2021
I'm a musical fan but I'm picky on the type of musicals I watch. I like the more updated musicals. Not a big fan of the older stuff. I watch the the older stuff and appreciate what went into creativity & work. Alas, it still won't hit my fancy. This is why I didn't think I was going to like this show. It appeared they were going to focus on the older genre.

However, this was hilarious and really well done. The comedic timing of the two main characters were superb. The supporting cast, characters not in on the joke, were so believable as the characters who have lived there all their lives. The songs were funny and catchy.

I plan to watch again & again as well as tell everyone about it. Good job, Schmigadoon cast! Thank you for making 2021 better!

Hope there's a sequel
25 June 2021
Yes you read that correct. The story moves along quickly. It was entertaining and bloody enough to actually make me care about the characters, plot, and the unanswered question about the key. Kevin James NAILED IT with his bad guy character. LuLu is spellbinding as you watch her unravel. I would recommend the movie to family and friends as well as see the sequel "opening day".

This movie has so much heart yet funny as heck. Fantastic movie for whole family. Both parents and kids can relate to the material which in turn has you laughing your butt off. Really well done. I would purchase this movie. Will be recommending to friends and family. A+ "Two thumbs way up!"

Not sure why season 3 is getting bashed
12 April 2021
Season 1 is good, Season 2 even better. Season 3: I genuinely like and appreciate as they are having the characters interact and goof around more. There is more explanation to smaller details of the cop routine and their rules. They didn't "Hollywood ending" Nathan Fillion's character to a mistake he made in Season 2. I honestly thought they would this season 3. Instead, a new character arch for him as well as a couple of the other Rookies and seasoned training officers. I find it odd they (the bad reviews about the show "going woke" or downhill) expect a cop show to continue with out addressing any issues that are going on today. I particularly really liked Season 3, episode 9, called Amber. They intelligently addressed many of the issues/questions today's cops have to deal with. I was genuinely really impressed with how they made that work into the show and how it was handled. Take my advice, take the bad reviews of season 3 with a grain of salt. This is a genuinely good show with sincere intentions of wanting you to understand the life, big or small problems, of a cop.

Uncensored memory lane
13 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I always find it amazing when you come across someone who keeps EVERYTHING. Soleil did that. You hear voicemails, see diary entries and photos as well as videos of her whole life...but the videos are a trip to watch. Soleil does a good job narrating and piecing together all of her memories. The most heartbreaking was to see her read her diary entry of her rape. Her young self not realizing she was indeed raped and on top of that telling her rapist she wouldn't tell because she "knows" it was partially her fault. You could see as she reads it how she would have liked to shake some sense into her young self. The pain across her face as she reads her own words... I mean, we all mistakes in life and look back thinking, "WHAT was I thinking?!". Here's a woman who sadly gets to read exactly that. And you feel THAT pain with her. This is what the documentary is like as she visits and sees now the pain some of her friends were in and, like all of us in life, we wonder if we could have seen or sense their friends pain to help save them. You share this journey with Soleil. It's well done.

I didn't rate it higher because I kind of wish we could've seen or learned, in her own words, of where Soleil is now. She glosses over her pregnancy and birth of her kids. Suddenly I was thrusted into present time then it ended.

Take it for what it is: just a simple comedy
7 January 2021
Watched this three times now. I keep finding/noticing new funny parts. Just a straight forward simple slightly dorky comedy. Love the relationship between the mom & dad (Will & Amy) with their daughter. As a married couple they are believable as well as adorable. Frank Mantzoukas is great as their friend/neighbor. The rest of their neighbors are written bull's-eye perfect with hilarious dialogue and perfectly cast.

Travolta is amazing
22 December 2019
The movie has a few issues and the ending is odd. However, John Travolta made me forget he is John Travolta. His tics and mannerism were so solid. He was fantastic. I would recommend this movie just so others could witness how well Travolta embodies this particular role.

I look forward to characters' quirks
20 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What I like about this show is that each character has started to develop "a thing", quirk, that has them stand out as well as add to the show. Ginny has heart but faults...her faults are adorable. Her ex-husband is an idiot but the actor plays him so that you just can't help but love the guy. Ginny's best friend is a tough cookie and ex-husband's best friend has a crush on his ex-wife, Ginny. HOWEVER, what I REALLY look forward to each episode is Arthur and Jax. I live for Reverend Jax's alternate movie and TV show titles his Missionary parents forced on him. The way Jax speaks and says his lines literally make me laugh out loud. Arthur's insults and one liners, along with his delivery, are just priceless and, again, laugh out loud. I was shocked Bradley Whitford joined such a show as he seems way "too good for something so simple". But I think I see now why he did join. It has good writing with great lines for him and the show has heart. So much potential for longevity - I hope it happens. I genuinely like it.

What I had hoped the film would be...
2 May 2019
This is how I had hoped the film would be: her view, and her view alone, with an explanation of why she did what she did. Now I get it. She truly didn't feel like it was as easy as that to escape or ask for help. They were both masters at mind games. I could see myself in her place believing at any moment he would kill the person she asked for help from and/or my family. I found myself admiring her and rejoicing in the little miracles that came her way. Acting, on everyone's part, was stellar. I would recommend this movie.
