Mortal Kombat (2021)
Nothing entertaining about it
Terrible acting. Terrible dialogue delivery.
0 justice for Scorpion Vs Sub Zero
They turned Lui Kang from a rebellious non believer with great fighting abilities to a groveling submissive no talent fortune cookie/lantern
Only thing good think was the FX. The look not the use.
Nearly on the level of Dragonball Evolution.
Watched the original to get the real feel of Mortal Kombat.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Disappointment
After loving the first Wonder Woman I was looking forward to this a lot.
The build up is soooo slow, at times extremely aimless, and the constant sexual emphasis and horny guys just made it so uncomfortable to watch.
The action sequences are underwhelming. Too much cinematic shots on Diana and not enough actual action. FX are a joke. Cartoons look more realistic.
Max Lord and his genie complex is hilarious in a bad way.
My favourite moment is how he obtains his employees for his company. Which says a lot about the movie.
Utter nonsense and the way it ends is eye roll back sickeningly bad. Please stop shoving overly moralistic .... Into these movies. Moderations people.
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
Perfect. As expected. The Danny's.
It was hilarious and fun what else do you need to know.
Danny Glover and Danny DeVito worked perfectly.
A slight issue with the ending but given the after credits I don't think its as bad as it was if the writers are thinking ahead.
War (2019)
Terrible Music blasting Slow motion Acrobatics movie
The base plot of the movie is alright and had potential but the execution.
Every second they could you had a good long stare between 2 or at one point 3 actors with music blasting in the background for no reason. That time would've been better spent developing another character which played a big role in the movies plot.
The action sequences were nothing but unnecessary acrobatics. In fact the whole movie went for eye candy over substance.
The twist at the end negates a lot of the movie and makes previously gone scenes senseless. What little feel the movie had was destroyed by this.
Bird Box (2018)
The Happening but 8 times better
Simply put it is a great supernatural "natural" phenomanon thriller probably the best of its kind because it isn't filled with illogical actions by the characters just for the sake of creating the story. The reactions made sense. The climax had a bit of a bump because it felt a tad forced but it's forgivable. Definitely one to watch.
Replicas (2018)
Major issues ruin the movie
The concept was great and the movie could have as well. However there were big problems with the route they take.
The issue with the android body with the human brain replica was apparent without being a scientific genius. The mind rejected the body because it wasn't biological. It was unrealistic to have Keanu Reeves being baffled by it
Deleting Zoe from the memories. Ermmmmm what about everyone else that knows of Zoe? What's the plan when people start asking the clones about Zoe.
Him replying to messages on their behalf. Are you going to insert those memories?
Despite him being in a sensitive state these aren't things you don't think about when trying to bring your family back to life.
Aquaman (2018)
One of the best Superhero movies around
There's no shortages of idiotic reviews from critics where no real issues are brought to light about the movie. They all seem to complain about unavoidable expected occurances for a movie primarily based under water.
Overall it is a well told story with a lot packed in it without the usually feeling of a rushed and jerky scene changes like orher DC movies have in the past. Jason Momoa is perfect as Aquaman. The action sequences are extremely enjoyable. The dialogues at times feel a bit off (hence the 9 stars not 10) but apart from that id say it's one of the best superhero movies out there.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Concept okay. Acting good. Movie terrible
They hunt by sound and have no eyes and possibly nose. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that they'll have sensitive hearing.
I hate stupidity for the sake of moving on the plot. This was full of stupidity. The nail was the pinnacle of stupidity.
The movie would make more sense if they were say a couple of weeks after the attacks started not years.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Fun to watch (spoiler free)
It was a great watch.
Loved the transformation from board game to video game in the opening scene :D
It's very linear in what it wants to do. Each character has troublesome qualities and something to overcome and they do so through their journey in Jumanji.
It dies down quite a lot towards the end. Would've liked more interaction with the villain and the jungle but still what was there was entertaining
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Just watch force awakens and cry
Made me think of the following movies:
Mary Poppins, Oceans 11, Oliver twist, fantastic beasts, pokemon, harry potter, gremlins (when yoda turned up) and many many classics
Now for the actual review. Everything Force Awakens built is gone and there is nothing of any substance to look forward to.
The moment the movie starts the tone of it is set and that tone is forever with you through the movie. Snoke is basically nothing nothing seriously nothing. Those at the top of the Order are hormonal teenage like characters. Full of name drops with little reason. The back story to Kylo don't expect much. Back story to Luke going into exile don't expect much. Actually don't expect anything from Luke at all. He has butlers and a farm on that island. Expect a whiney Ren who continuously Skype calls Kylo in an attempt to establish a long distance relationship for no reason.
Slowest galactic chase ever. More weak point hits to blow up entire ships. What's the points of ships with gaping entry points? Do people not use their eyes anymore.
As one reviewer has put was this a parody? A joke? A laugh?
I can't even gather all the thoughts to put into words for this review so this is the end of it.
Justice League (2017)
Just a Good Movie
Justice League was not epic and honestly I don't think it overly tries to be.
It was a simply good entertaining movie which brings in even more characters in a great way opening up the future DC movies.
It has its light hearted moments (wasn't riddled with jokes) and some truly awesome moments.
Should've left in the extra hour or so worth of footage but it still came together well
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
A Slapstick Comedy
I will not deny that this movie made me laugh a lot but it also made me at many points think why? Was that really necessary. You could see when a serious tone was going to be broken and how as things lead up to it.
Marvel deliver another weak villain who was cracking the weakest jokes. While dragging along a "executioner" who's presence to me didn't make any sense. No attempt at developing her character at all.
Having seen the trailers I was expecting a Action movie with comedic moments but instead got a comedy with small moments of action.
Tbf simply put everybody seemed to have lost their wits.
Pretty disappointed.
Arrival (2016)
I don't like paradox cop outs for endings
The movie is great at keeping your attention to the screen but that doesn't make this a great movie. There's just too many plot drivers which run on "for the sake of it".
Yes OK she is learning their language and so unlocks the ability to access the past, present and future memories at will but hang on an entire team of people are deciphering and learning that language too. I'll have to watch the movie again but doesn't she start having the visions with very little understanding of the language?
I just generally have an issue with paradoxes when they are used to end a movie which is on a difficult position of resolving the issue they currently face.
In arrival the future chat with General Shang is on the basis of her having already made the call and told him his wife's dying words. Time being non linear or not you cannot gain information that you have 0 access to so that you can give that information conveniently to yourself.
The daughter. This is such a sensitive topic but ultimately one thing I am certain of is that she has no right of withholding her knowledge about their, not hers only, their daughter from Ian. Plus it looks like knowing fully how he will react when she, and I'm assuming this is why they are apart, tells him about the disease after the daughter is born she is probably going to do that anyway too.
Overall this movie is not smart it is just great at keeping a mystery not worth knowing.
Busanhaeng (2016)
Very little to complain about
It's a great Zombie movie that focuses more emphasis on the people rather than the fact that Zombies are running around. Unlike the majority of movies in this genre. Character development is right on the money even for those who only get a short amount of time or lines on screen. I have a few bones to pick with the way things were carried out on 2 occasions in the movie but to an extent it is part of what makes it great because I'm left thinking backwards about how things could have gone differently only if this happened. Then I think further back and say the same thing. It's a must watch. You will be invested in the characters completely.
Rogue One (2016)
Enjoyable watch
This movie just fills a hole. The death star hole. The characters are not properly invested in for there to be a substantial connection with audience (imo). It was all very rushed as changes in characters appear but with very little to support the change. This in turn makes the movie feel a little half hearted.
The best moment is right at the end. When it connects to episode 4.
You get everything from it from one sitting and because it isn't overly entertaining there is nothing that compels me to watch it again.
However, i might as it's usually necessary to get a unbiased opinion for a movie.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Enjoyable and Great
I've given it an 8 but would say its more a 7.5 All in all it was a good entertaining movie.
Harley Quinn done her job well of being a love struck psychopath.
Joker was a bit here and there for me. A bit too love struck back. He is suave and has a crazy unpredictable mob boss aura to him which I liked. No one really knew what kind of response he wants when put in a position of choice.
Will Smith although one of the enjoyable characters in the movie didn't really feel like a Deadshot to me.
They smoothed it all in nicely with the odd jolt here and there.
I'm not going to write too much as its early days and there are probably lots of people waiting to go see it who are skimming through reviews.
X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
Better than BVS and civil war for entertainment
Keeping this short.
Not without its faults but it was a great watch hardly stays idle. Didn't lose my interest at any point.
Magneto oh how great he was towards the end he gets put back a little but the feels were strong.
Quicksilver was amazing. Loved him puts a smile on your face.
Cyclops and Jean built up nicely as well as Nightcrawler.
Angel wasted but probably wasn't a fit for this movie on general.
Best Xmen movie by far because it's not centered around Wolverine (as good as Hugh jackman was the movies were awful) and everyone in the main cast got to play a part.
The villain himself was worthy but the choice of minions not so much.
Purely on an entertainment factor I put this above both BvS and Civil War. Both of which I gave a 7 for different reasons. This does not try to be overly epic or blast open a door to a series of new movies. It gets an 8.
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Mixed feelings - Could have been much more
The movie is worth a watch.
The build and story is slow and quite boring.
Fight scene were good except for the big showdown not enough was done. Spiderman and ant-man stole the fight. Scarlet Witch would appear anywhere. They threw in a mini fight between Hawkeye and black widow which was.....well out of place. Vision was mostly kept out of it which begs the question what was the most powerful ally of iron man doing? And the jokes so many jokes. A few wouldn't mind but it's constant and takes away from the epic showdown that could have been. I'd compare it to a looney toons.
Captain America and Bucky escape fight and scene was awesome. And the end trio fight was bordering on epic. No stupid jokes full on psychos stark trying to kill Bucky and cap trying to stop him. Loved it.
Zemo was extremely underdeveloped. The keeping him mysterious didn't pay off for me. He seemed too small of a fish for what he caused. Used in many ways with no explanation and puts a few plot holes into the movie. He was a convince for the movie.
Iron Man seems mentally ill, in need of a psychologist and suddenly turns into a willing puppet for the government until the end. The CGI on his suit when he has his mask off is terrible like Spy Kids 3d terrible.(I'm being harsh here).
Black panther introduction to the universe perfect. On point. Easily the best thing to come out of this movie.
Overall fights and choreography great. Story apart from black panther no so great. Villain very weak.
Chandni Chowk to China (2009)
what an awful movie is an understatement
totally crap
i also think Akshay Kumar has gone mad with the crappy mad, dumb guy character because he uses the same tone of voice in all his movies now.
after Mithun gets killed u think hell turn serious but no he goes on being an idiot and cries like one.
the training:
-"hai koi asa move jo tumse better aur koi nai kar sakta" (give me a break)
-bobing on barrels (just looked plain stupid)
-climbing the tree and jumping off (two attempts shown and how the heck would he be able to do it without strengthening his legs)
cosmic kick: -the guy wouldn't wait he'd have killed akshay and the 2nd idiot by the time he finished -boats flipping
bringing Indians into his special move(if u can call it that): -all over the world people do that -the top guy would be totally defenceless because he knows that move
all in all its an Indian movie trying to be English and that never works out unless the English make it for them.
