Amazing Soap Opera!
17 January 2009
This was a great Canadian prime time soap,I watched all 22 episodes AND LOVED EACH ONE! It really is unfortunate that CBC did not renew the series for a second season as the story lines, characters and format were so intriguing and entertaining.

"11 Cameras" aired on CBC nationally in the Summer of 2006 and I really, really hope that a DVD is one day released to add to my collection and so this show can reach an additional amount of people that didn't get to tune in the first time around. Wonderful series; and I hear it is being sold internationally with airings in Brazil! Would definitely love a second season & DVD.!

The Namesake (2006)
10/10
amazing...
17 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
As usual, Mira Nair does not disappoint. The Namesake is a brilliant masterpiece of a film that is wonderfully shot by Ms.Nair. Tabu's performance is amazing and her best to date, when her character hears of her husband's sudden death she performs this scene brilliantly.

Rumour had it that Tabu was to get an Oscar Nomination for her role however the Oscars truly disappointed. Both Rani Mukherjee and Konkona Sen Sharma were offered the part before Tabu accepted however after seeing the film one can see she was made for this movie.

This movie is more than worth the watch; great for all families who have migrated to any foreign country.

Go out and watch The Namesake, amazing poetry on camera! Kal Penn, Irrfan Khan and Jacinda Barrett were all wonderful in their respective roles as well.

Best BOllywood movie of 2007!
17 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS!

This was THE BEST Bollywood movie of 2007. Deepika TRULY IS AMAZING IN HER DEBUT FILM..and the songs, storyline, acting, cameos, twists ARE ALL VERY CAMP! Farah Khan is amazing as always as the director and everything about this movie is sheer entertainment! Bollywood lovers WILL TRULY APPRECIATE THIS FILM...ESCPECIALLY Those fans of 1970's Bollywood classics as this film does pay homage to that era! Go out and WATCH IT! Shahrukh Khan, Kirron Kher and Deepika are all wonderful in both parts of the films. In the beginning the movie takes place in the 1970s where SRK is a background performer in films and in the latter half he is reincarnated as a Movie Star after his death at the interval.

Deepika's character in the first have is a famous Indian ACtress however she too is murdered and in the second half is reincarnated as an aspiring actress. This movie is too good to miss and is Definitely worth a watch! Also, the cameos from Karishma Kapoor, Rekha, Malaika Arora all add to the glamorous factor of the film....!

Great T.V. Show!
17 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Little Mosque on the Prairie is a great T.V. show...very innovative and definitely a success! It came roaring onto our television screens in Janury 2007 and has not looked back since! The show is quite entertaining and definitely worth a watch. The show depicts Sunni Muslims living in the Prairies in Canada in present day and shows their day to day struggles but also highlights that Muslims are just like your average Uncle Jesse's, DJs and Michelle Tanners.

The show does have some weak points: Sheila Mcarthy as Sarah IS BEYOND WEAK as a performer and certainly one would cringe every time they see her on t.v. Her voice is VERY ANNOYING and she seems to have done no research on her character as she does not resemble a Muslim in the least. She should definitely take some tips on acting from Arlene Duncan who plays the hilarious Fatima and does the role of the Nigerian business owner PERFECTLY to the T and especially consider that Ms. Duncan is Jamaican in real life! Sitara Hewitt is wonderful in the role of Rayyan and certainly eye-catching for the male audiences and Zaib Sheikh is also quite charming as the Imam (however, one would always think of his role on Metropia as a gay twenty something) which certainly would skew their perception and make it hard to see him as an Imam; however I guess he does have range...! Nonetheless, the show is comedic and Definitely, Definitely one of those very few shows THAT I CAN GAURANTEE you can sit at the dinner table and watch with the kids. There is NO SWEARING, and as Baber would say it, NO KISSING, NO TOUCHING, NO Inappropriate BEHAVIOUR! Definitely a show to watch with the kids at dinner or just some light hearted comedy to watch with a cup of tea after a stressful day at work.

Carlo Rota (24, Saw 5) is wonderful as Yasir, Manoj Sood has become A NATIONAL CHARACTER AS BABAR, and J.J. (Godiva's) is mediocre in talent but cute as Rayyan's potential spouse and fiancé.

The show does air around the world in numerous countries such as Canada, France, Dubai, Finland, etc. and if it doesn't air in your country the complete first season DVD is on sale to buy as is the complete Second Season (officially releasing Spring 2009). Worth EVERY PENNY! I hope similar to Air Farce and other successful CBC shows LMOTP is on for the next 10-20 years to come, as their is so much more storyline potential. Also, FOX has bought the rights to the show so maybe one day a format of this Canadian Comedy may soon hit the American Airwaves!

Devdas (I) (2002)
10/10
Amazing Movie!
17 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Devdas is an amazing movie and one of Bollywood's best! It released in 2002 after which the movies of the time as well as actors, directors and writers began making better quality films in an attempt to be up to par with this one! If you don't speak Hindi, I suggest you still watch this movie with English subtitles, as from the first frame to the last it is very entertaining and keeps you with the film at all times. The colors, acting, storytelling are all brilliantly done and it truly is a love story to be remembered. The songs are very catchy and Madhuri Dixit and Ashwariya Rai are Bollywood's biggest actresses and both looked the absolute best in this film than any other they have done. Shahrukh Khan too is brilliant as the lover who lost.

This movie Definitely, Definitely is a keeper that one would want to buy on DVD to keep in their collections and EVERYONE I know has watched the whole film/certain part of it repeatedly!

Aaja Nachle (2007)
7/10
Worth a watch....
17 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Just for Madhuri Dixit! This is MD's first movie role since Devdas (2002) and it is worth a watch just to see the India's beauty on screen again.

HOWEVER...THE MOVIE'S PLOT LINE SUCKED. It was beyond ridiculous and boring and unrealistic at best. Plus, Madhuri Dixit (now a mother of 2 boys) certainly did hold back in her acting, as she is known as being a bold, confidant type of female character.

The songs are good, and the movie has a number of great actors such as Madhuri, Akshaye Khanna, Konkona Sen Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Kunal Kapoor and Divya Dutta.

However, Madhuri if possible should return to films but accept small supporting roles as well (such as Rani Mukherjee's character in Saawariya) because there won't be a great shooting load and she has aged and no longer can carry a film judging by Aaja Nachle's failure.

AGain, I do say watch the film if you want to see Madhuri again, the movie does solely get a 7/10 for her presence (or else it would get a 2/10) or watch one of her other films instead such as HAHK, Devdas or even Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam.

Also, there should have been more focus on her relationship with Akshaye Khanna than the "theatre play" and politics.
