I Didn't Come Here to Die (2010)
B Movie Bliss
I decided to kill time and get a film from Redbox and sure enough I picked up this gem. Basically, a group of 20ish year olds go out to the woods to build a campground as a humanitarian project. The premise is not scary until they begin to die by accident one by one. It is actually pretty funny and the gore presents itself quiet well. The acting isn't that bad, but the characters are kind of stereotypical but I enjoyed a majority of the characters. I was impressed with this one and hope to find it to purchase soon. I recommend it to any gore lovers looking to have a movie night with some friends. Definitely pick this one up!
Lo imposible (2012)
A Saddening Tale Filled With True Talent
Going to see "The Impossible" turned out to be a truly breathtaking experience. I was not truly familiar with the story line before seeing it, but the connection I felt with the characters after the film was unlike anything I had felt before.
By following the characters of a natural disaster, I was thrown into an ocean of sadness and relief. Watching the actors in these roles was heartbreaking, but it was believable in every sense. I was really impressed with all the actors of the family.
The visuals and sound editing were also impressive. It was hard to watch at times, but I kept my eyes glued to the screen since it was so believable.
I recommend this film to pretty much anyone, but remember what it is about, it is hard to watch at times and at times heartbreaking.
[Rec]³: Génesis (2012)
Least Favorite of the Series, but Entertaining
Another Rec film means another film with gore, violence, and zombies. This was my original thought going in, and I got what I was expecting.
The tone of this Rec film was very different than the first two I thought. Also, compared to the first two, I thought the acting was a little worse as well. It started off well, but not having the hand held camera the whole film made it a little different as well.
The best part of this film was about the last 30 minutes I thought. The gore really increased toward the end, and I found the ending good as well.
I am looking forward to the next film and am interested in which direction it will take after the ending of this one. Hoping it will be better than 3 and take more of a tone of the first two.
A Haunted House (2013)
Darn You Previews...Darn You
As an avid watcher of horror flicks and also the "Scary Movie" franchise I had high hopes for this one. The previews give away a lot of the funny parts, probably 80% to estimate.
A big downfall of the story was the repetitive humor. The jokes go on for about 2 minutes too long. As an example, Marlon Wayans gets intimate with a stuffed animal (I'm not sure why anyone thought this scene would be funny), and the scene goes on and on for about 3 minutes. It was funny for about 10 seconds, but that was it. A lot of the humor is like that, it goes on for too long and it is the same joke over and over. Also all of the supporting cast kind of had the same lines over and over as well. This was a big downfall of the movie for me.
I breathed a sigh of relief when Cedric the Entertainer jumped in. His role and his lines were really funny. He added a much needed change to the films humor and definitely made the movie worth watching.
Overall, the film wasn't great, but I am glad I sat it through til the end. Nothing great, but entertaining for about 30 minutes overall.
