Daughter of the Bride (2023)
Diabolically awful
This is bad... really bad. We lasted a little over an hour, although to be honest, we did start questioning whether to turn it off after about 10 minutes. Just atrocious viewing. We thought with a couple of decent actors in it, it may have passed muster to keep us slightly entertained for a couple of hours... but we were oh so wrong. I suppose if you were a 12 year old living in a two dimensional Barbie world of vapid nonsense and you cry yourself to sleep every night in the hope that your broken family would miraculously fix itself, you might find this a little entertaining, but it's pretty unlikely. Save yourself. Watch something else... anything else.
Detectorists (2014)
Something special lies beneath
A work of quiet genius. The "slow food" of comedy. Understated and dry British humour at its best. Beautifully cinematic and delightfully cast.
Rough Night (2017)
Not that kind of bad movie...
When I was a university student, we used to watch a lot of bad movies. Movies so bad they were good. Many of them were low budget horror, or sci-fi, or comedy, or horror-sci-fi-comedy. A lot of them went on to become cult classics - great examples of really bad movies that, if you went along for the ride, and could laugh at yourself a bit for watching them, actually had some merit in wasting away a couple of hours with friends late at night or nursing a hangover the day after.
This is not one of those movies.
This is utter tripe.
There is nothing funny about this movie, or in this movie. Just a bunch of actors who've made a really bad decision to appear in it.
Bad, bad, bad. Save yourself the self-loathing and avoid this movie at all costs.
The Ottoman Lieutenant (2017)
Diabolically awful
The most awful couple of hours of two-dimensional clap-trap I have subjected myself to for several years. Don't waste your time on this drivel. I can't believe Ben Kingsley allowed himself to be duped into this nonsense. Shockingly wooden acting, criminally historically inaccurate, and a script that most ten-year-olds would find insultingly beneath them. This film is a barrage of banality. Awful. Really awful. I'm serious.
