The Happening (2008)
One of a kind.
I know I've said this before but this one is an original. It's because of the director, M. Night Shyamalan. I know it has left some people and critics disappointed but I believe it has a quality unlike no other. The director has made other great films that are originals and definitely watch again movies.
In addition Zooey Deshanel, which is one of the main characters in this film, does a lovely job. I would consider an up and coming actress who definitely plays quite well in this film too. I really enjoyed the two main characters roles together. When two actors can play together and both play their parts equally well and blend so noticabbly, and I would point that out.
definitely a great film!
Signs (2002)
A One of It's Kind.
I love generally spooky films. This movie is really unlike no other. As most of M. Night Shyamalan's movie's are. They have some type of beauty to them though that is unique and mysterious. It is really hard to even describe it. Like his work, this film contains so many turns and jerks that really make you think and wonder whats going to happen next.
I can definitely say that I'd watch this film again. Probably because it's one of a kind, generally creepiness that is hard to find in movies. If you like this one you would probably enjoy another film by this director like, "The Happening", and "Lady in the Water".
have fun!
Resident Evil (2002)
great actress, great film.
This is a hand in hand movie. The actors and characters are played well and I believe really made Milla Jovich pop in this movie. After I saw this film I watched it again and again. Her performance was played so well it definitely intrigued me, but the horror, oh the horror!
There is a genuine love for monsters in this film and the plot that so many video games are based off of. It's a great combination to put together. If you enjoyed this you'd enjoy the sequel to this, "Resident Evil: Apocalypse", that is just as (should I say) bad ass as the first.
If your looking for that classic zombie horror, good acting, and bad ass zombie butt-kicking you'll really like this one!
In the Mouth of Madness (1994)
spooky for it's time
This is a great movie. I like Sam Neil playing as the character John Trent. Perfect role for him. And if you liked him in this film you'd enjoy "Event Horizon". Generally, both creepy and truly frightening films.
It's the year 2008 now, and I just saw this movie. Realizing the year it was made and watching it now almost fourteen years later, honestly made me realize the quality of the movie. It's a film that contains some good freakishness in it as well as some genuine horror. A generally one of it's kind film you probably won't see anything like it. Just the fact that it's not really comparable to those classic horror films like Halloween or Friday the 13th. Which you can't beat, those are great films of their own. "In the House of Madness" is genuine, probably won't have a sequel, but honestly could because it's possible. and if they came out with one I would definitely watch it.
I regret seeing the film when I did and not any sooner. Now that I have watched it and enjoyed it I'll definitely be more likely to watch this again. It's definitely not a boring movie. Then, combined with it's atmosphere and story-line, becomes so much more intense.
Event Horizon (1997)
Just Plain Spooky!
This is a movie I would define as just plain spooky. I could definitely rant about this movie! The plot is so well grafted. A possibly futuristic space exploration. As soon as the film begins it's scary. This honestly has to be one of the scariest movies I have seen. I'm not saying it's a horror film, it's scary. but it does have it's share of horror.
I have seen this movie over twenty times since I was in my teenage years and it rarely gets old. It's a classic movie starring Sam Neil. If you liked this you might enjoy "In the House of Madness", also starring him and pretty good acting. If your searching for a seriously good scare fest you've got to see this film!
-Have fun!
Mirrors (2008)
scary is as scary does!
I have to admit I was on my toes. It's one that gets better and better as the movie goes. It keeps you wondering and there is pretty much no foreshadowing at all. I really didn't know what was going to happen from minute to minute. This movie is one of those you'll want to watch again. Sutherlands performance is good but I've got to give props to the other actors as well. All their performances were pretty remarkable too. I'm not the type of person that enjoys crappy films. I definitely have to say I know a good movie when I see it and I'm confident of that. The overall twist and turns... yeah it's a definite popcorn lights off cuddle with your boyfriend scary movie.
