So bad its...almost great
17 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie last night, not expecting anything good. That's exactly what I got. The acting was fair, Ice-T pulls a baseball bat out of his afro. A leprechaun raps and smokes weed. "A friend with weed is a friend indeed," he says. This movie is just too stupid and silly to have anything even remotely scary in it. I was laughing really hard at all the gory parts just because they were really cheesy. Also, I love it whenever Ice-T's friends get killed he just says "eww" and doesn't even think about it again. There's also the black drag queen and the magical flute. It seems really weird when all the rappers care about is making money while there is a killer leprechaun on the loose. Hmm...whatever.

Guess who's back in town?
12 April 2009
Okay, now its Poltergeist III. The only two returning actresses are Heather O'Rourke and Zelda Rubenstein. Its about Carol Anne who moved to her aunt (played by Nancy Allen) and uncle's (played by Tom Skerrit) high rise apartment building. Her aunt and uncle's daughter (played by Lara Flynn Boyle) lives there too. Carol Anne finds out that Reverend Kane (from the 2nd movie) has returned to make her lead him into the light, and the more she doesn't, the more friends of hers will get killed.

The acting is terrible mostly but Heather O'Rourke does an excellent job in her last performance and Lara Flynn Boyle also does very good. Tom Skerrit didn't do too good in this one and neither did Nancy Allen. Reverend Kane doesn't even look like himself. The special effects were very good and the use of mirrors was also really cool. The part where the kids were sneaking around was the most intense part of the movie because the movie is not intense. Richard Fire was atrocious as Dr. Seaton and him denying everything just goes way too far. The movie is entertaining and fun. The ending was somewhat abrupt because Heather O'Rourke was dead before filming finished. An average sequel and an okay way to end the story.

They're back!
11 April 2009
This is the sequel to one of the best movies of all time. It stars Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Heather O'Rourke, Oliver Robins, Zelda Rubenstein, Julian Beck, and Will Sampson. The movie centers around the family from the first movie (Dominique Dunne is dead but they don't mention her once) and they are broke. They stay at a different house after their other one imploded. Things go from bad to worse when they meet Reverend Kane at the mall. He goes to their house and tries to convince them that the Indian they're staying with is dangerous. After that, the ghosts come back and wreak havoc on the family.

Mediocre but watchable sequel. The sappiness of it really annoyed me and the acting was over-dramatic at times. The special effects weren't near as good as the ones in the first. Heather O'Rourke does a fantastic job as Carol Anne. Julian Beck did a wonderful job playing Reverend Kane, who is the scariest thing about this movie. The music was composed by Jerry Goldsmith and was decent. Overall, the movie was was good but the sappiness and the bad editing really hurt the movie.

They're here!
11 April 2009
Wow, I was astonished when I first saw this movie. It is so incredible and one of the best horror movies I've ever seen! This was directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and starred Craig T. Nelson (The Incredibles), JoBeth Williams (The Big Chill), and Heather O'Rourke (Poltergeist 1, 2, & 3). The story is simple but is very well executed in this classic.

There is almost nothing that is wrong about this movie. The performances are great, all of them. It's very suspenseful and one particular scene (involving a clown doll) made me jump out of my seat. Steven Spielberg produced this and wrote it.

The special effects are great even by todays standards so back then, they must have been amazing. The film was sappy at times but it was made up for with the awesomeness of it! Any horror fan, or movie fan in general should DEFINITELY see this movie! 10/10
