BvS is a Watchmen-style deconstruction!
28 March 2022
In order to fully appreciate this movie viewers would do well to educate themselves on what deconstruction is in film-especially for the superhero film genre. As a deconstruction I feel BvS absolutely deserves 10/10 which is what I gave it.

Pretty sure I'm not allowed to link articles in a review, and there are about eight of them that I would link if I could that lay it all out. But for those that are interested in learning more about this way of understanding the film, I would recommend that you search for Darren Mooney's excellent articles about the Snyderverse (there are at least four) at Escapist magazine. And there is also a collection of some very thoughtful articles on the subject as well at a blog titled "The Snyderverse - Taking the Deep Dive Into Zack Snyder's DC Films."

Finally, if you have this interest I'd recommend also Aaron Langerman's excellent YT video analysis of the Watchmen comic run/graphic novel, and YT channel Cartoonist Kayfabe's excellent 12 episode analysis of the comic book craft of the Watchmen run. Understanding what Watchmen is doing is extremely important to understanding what Snyder was aiming for with BvS.

If you take all this in you will be in a much better position to appreciate the director's intent, and then to judge what you personally feel works for you and what doesn't.

Better Late Than Never (1979 TV Movie)
looking for words to a poem recited in this movie
17 June 2008
It was a sweet little movie. They assembled a good cast, and I'm sure those veteran character actors must have had a great time working with one another, and the story, both.

The film included a short poem that one of the characters read after one of their group passed away when they were on the run. I think Harold Gould's character recited it and they were in the mountains on a train at the time? Anyway, my mother commented at the time that she really liked that poem and would love to have it read at her own funeral one day. If anyone ever manages to get a copy of this movie, could they please post the words to that poem? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
