Carmen (1984)
Makes you appreciate Opera!
17 August 2003
I'm not an opera fan ... mainly because the words usually seem so trite compared to the music which carries the real meaning of the story and actions. Anyway, after years of enjoying the music without ever seeing the Opera of Carmen I watched this video and am totally enthralled! Bravo! Encore! Francesco Rosi certainly brings the story to life in a most wonderful way using the medium of film ... Bravo! Encore!!! Bravo!!!

Noah's Ark (1999)

Maliciously criticized video
18 December 2002
I've read the comments and the majority of them remind me of a scene from this video where Noah and Company are building the Ark and the nearby townspeople come to KILL him ... it's not clear why they're are so enraged about his innocent enterprise ... but it sure as h..l resembles a lot of the criticism here of this very sweet and non-prejudicial movie. The comments remind me of 'lynch-mob' mentality. Maybe the negative nay-sayers have their personal 'sodom' threatened by it, I don't know .. but watch the video and decide for yourself. You might also watch 'Sakharov' starring Jason Robards and let me know if the 'court attendees' at the 'inquests' remind you of many of the 'user comments' for this video ... I know I can see a striking resemblance. Anyways, if you read Genesis and add up the years and generations after Adam, you'll realize that Noah had about 30 years left to live when Lot's father was born ... so he could have been alive at the same time, even though other parts of the Movie don't exactly correspond to the King James version chronology. Read the Nag Hammadi Library for more information about what really happened during the Biblical era. QED ... and God Bless You (P.S. This Movie is NOT anti-semitic!!!)

An amazing love story!
27 October 2002
I've watched this video so many times ... and each time it moves me dramatically. It is a most amazing love story between a defrocked priest who found that as he reached for the stars his feet were made of clay and a scientist (Jodie Foster) who knew that her feet were made of clay but reached for the stars anyway.

The casting in this movie is, perhaps, the best that I have come across. Each character so vividly and accurately portrays the role chosen ... a remarkable production meriting abundant awards and kudos.

grade 'B', but you should really view it!!!!!!
20 September 2002
This movie, although a grade 'B, movie.. warrants viewing ... believe me, if you like MST3k videos, you'll like this one even without robotic comments. There's something about the honesty and simplicity of the actresses that makes it a very wholesome movie ... so watch it, or drop out!

A sleeper ... an OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION!!!!
24 August 2002
This Movie is so refreshing I can't believe it! So many Biblical Movies use exact wording with the thee's and thou's and unto's and smoteth's etc. The producer, director, writer and actors in this Movie bring the Biblical story of Noah and the flood to Vivid Life using present day wording and such very human feelings and comedy expressed remarkably well ... as it probably would be if it happened today (know of any current Sodom's?). This Movie is a real sleeper and I think the low score voting reflects either extremely rigid/stoic viewers and/or atheistic viewers. Don't miss it!!! It's a total inspiration (if you believe the Bible, that is!)
