The Marvels (2023)

Waste of my time
21 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So I'm guessing you had to see the mini series called Ms. Marvel to understand what's going on in this movie but I do not want to watch MCU series, I've tried a few, I didn't like them. It was the same thing with the "Multiverse of Mandness", suddenly Wanda had two kids, WTH? I started watching WandaVision, it didn't work for me.

But I've seen all the Marvel movies, I should be able to understand what's going on! If Disney is going to force people to watch their series too then the only thing they are going to achieve is that I'm not going to watch their movies either. I'm furious, this movie was a waste of my time and money, next time make movies that stand on their own.

Latino Iron Man
1 October 2023
In one word: pathetic. It's somewhat of a mix of Iron Man, Black Panther, Venom and the story of Cyborg. But none of these films featured a Latino dude so here we go, now we have a Latino one too now. But literally nothing else new. DCEU movies used to be dark but then I guess Warner Brothers saw a little humour adds to the movie so they started doing that too, it kind of worked in other DCEU movies but not in this one, it's not funny it's just plain lame. What's up with the fighter grandma jokes? Oh my god, this movie is so cringe. It used to be Wonder Woman 2 but this is now the worst DCEU movie ever made.

Season 3, Episode 1

Surprising season start
9 June 2022
I always thought of this show as a goofy Star Trek... what's the word... parody... maybe. But this episode was not that. I fully expected that a lot of people will not like it and well, look at the user reviews. And I can even understand them, this was not the show we've seen so far, but I liked it, it had the emotional charge of some of the more serious Voyager episodes. Without spoiling anything I can say that the episode tackles how people behave in a shaken community and how our emotions are like social reflexes not very different from what a computer would compute.

A lot of talk
21 May 2022
The pilot was promising but then the show became dull. I've just finished wathcing episode 4 and honestly I fell asleep for a few minutes. This is one of those shows where they talk and talk and people investigate and the writers don't reveal details in an attempt to try to keep the story interesting but to me it just comes off as boring. I'll watch a few more episodes before I abandon the show but I don't have high hopes.

Halo (2022– )

Facepalm
5 May 2022
Halo CE used to be my second favorite singleplayer game, I played it so much, finished it on legendary even. I don't mind that they changed the story or that you can actually see Master Chief's face but all that backstory and politics end empty talk is just tiresome. Season 1 episode 7 in it's entirety was about people I couldn't care less about. One more episode like this and I'm abandoning the show. Edit: Season 2 is just as tiresome and action scarce as the 1st so I decided not to waste my time on this show.

Abandoning after 12 episodes
3 March 2022
I was so excited about this show because I love Steve Carell and I haven't even realized John Malkovich is in it too. With two huge names like this in it how can this show be so mundane?! It's nowhere near funny enough to be called a comedy and it's not interesting enough to be a drama o sci-fi or anything. I think I gave it enough chances in 12 episodes, good bye.

Watched for the EVERYONE scene and I'm glad I did
24 February 2022
I was just a little boy when this movie was released so no wonder I missed it. Better late than never, this movie is worth a watch. It's not the most action packed, which I usually go for, but these three lead actors, Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman create such a unique atmosphere. So go watch it, tonight.

I loved it
12 January 2022
Especially after that brainless Shang-Chi fight movie, it was a nice change of pace. My only criticism is that the exposition part felt a little drawn out, maybe they should've written it in a way so it doesn't feel like exposition, instead just part of the story organically. Otherwise the visuals are astonishing and very stylish and I love how besides the armed conflicts there are so many moral conflicts among many sides even within teams. And of course how there are always concequences to your actions.

I couldn't watch it
31 December 2021
Because of all the unstructured randomly played notes that some people call Jazz. So I abandoned the show very early. Also, the main character looks like a joke, not an action hero.

Lots of potential
12 November 2021
I'd be lying if I said I like the show as much as the original but thinking back the original show's first season wasn't the best either, so I see a lot of potential. So far the stories are more simplistic than in the original but there's tasteful and light humor, a little action, a little excitement so let's go steal a second season and see where it goes.

My favorite sitcom
4 November 2021
I like it more than "Friends" or "Seinfeld". I've just rewatched the whole show and naturally I found problems with it. The Amy character first starts with a very robotic delivery, it was overdone. Fortunately later she started to talk normally without loosing the weirdness factor. But Bernadette was even worse, it's like the writers didn't know what to do with her. She starts as an almost stupid girl who can't get a simple joke, then she starts with the squicky voice, talk about overdoing something, so annoying, then the mean thing and finally in the last season when the writers wrote that "making people better" stuff, that was plain untrue. Too bad, but I guess nothing can be perfect. Still, this sitcom is different, great character developments going on all around, not as static as sitcoms usually are, which is good because people's lives change in 12 years. And great secondary and tertiary characters, like Zack, so likeable even though he's an idiot.

Not the best of the franchise
16 August 2021
The main idea of the movie is okay and the franchise can still pick up however the plot of this movie is not interesting at all, it's wafer thin, after the setup it's just a bunch of people constantly running away from stuff. I was also annoyed by the weak attempts of jumpscares and all the untranslated Spanish chatter.

Ruined by the lead actress
28 February 2021
Melissa McCarty is not funny. Not even a very good actress. She can play a supporting role but that's about it. I'm not saying that this would've been a 10/10 movie with a better lead actress but it could've been funny and quirky and a lot more enjoyable. I demand a remake with Kristen Bell or Christina Applegate. When your rice cooker starts to talk to you and you stand there like a log that's not good movie making, just saying. And I felt no chemistry between her and her love interest either.

My Zoe (2019)

Yeah, okay, but
27 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
She achieved nothing. I can't understand the pain of loosing a child because unfortunately I don't have one but this seems like an awful lot of money and risk to have a child that looks and sounds like your dead one. And the movie acts as this is okay, in fact it is only mentioned once around the 101 minute mark that the cloned child will not be Zoe. I'm also not happy with the pacing of the movie, too much time is spent with the exposition and death of the child and too little with the cloning and ethical dilemma part.

I wish this movie was a lot better
26 December 2020
The first half was a snoozefest the second half was just plain dumb. Don't waste a movie ticket for this. I mean if you want to watch it so you know what's happening in the DCEU, then sure, just have something to do for more than an hour while you wait for the movie to start. I mean I have no words. I've enjoyed both Batman v Superman and Justice league even though they were flawed, but this.. wtf was this WB? Wonder Woman was the only good thing in the DCEU.

This is something
2 October 2020
Don't get me wrong, I love the Avengers and I'd love Justice League if they had writers and a director but this show is something else. It seems to me that a lot of people, including me, binge watched it when they found it and for a reason, it's a crazy ride. And the other thing I really like is the casting. Not one actor out of place! I loved Karl Urban before but now he has the "always a win" title for me (CinemaWins fans know what I'm talking about). I did not know Antony Starr before but he is such a great Antisuperman, but really, everybody, good job.

Don't tempt me HBO
2 October 2020
I've abandoned many shows before they crashed and burned and I will do the same with this one too! For a show with such an interesting premise and such strong start it went downhill pretty fast with all the mysticism nonsense and then the season finale was a big mess. I suppose they wanted a great cliffhanger but they overcooked it. So at this point my position is that I'll watch a few more episodes from season 2 and if it doesn't get better very fast I'll abandon it.

Meh...
1 October 2020
Not much to say about this movie, it has a wafer thin plot just to have a carnage movie. If you like that kind of stuff then watch it just don't expect much meaning behind it.

Watchable

It was okay. In a few words: good casting, acceptable storyline, poorly developed antagonist, bad soundtracks. At the end there was a scene which would suggest there would be a sequel and although the movie was entertaining I will not shed a tear if the sequel doesn't happen.

Wow, I've got to say this movie has aged well. Just a few scenes could be done better these days, and I'm only talking about the visuals. If someone wants to remake this movie, please don't change anything else, especially not the ending, no Hollywood BS please. This movie has really caught me by surprise, I'm so glad I've stumbled upon it, I wonder why I haven't seen it on TV or somewhere all these years, it's really worth your time.

Hardly a tale.
6 June 2020
I've only watched the Pilot and I'll tel you upfront, I'm not gonna watch more episodes. The people who loved this show tell you that this is not a CGI battle sci-fi but I would argue that, at least the Pilot, was not a sci-fi at all. A ball of floating rocks is not sci-fi and the rest of the movie is a little girl wandering around. I don't need a CGI space battle to enjoy a movie but I would need a story, and this was hardly one, it had no conflicts, no resolutions, no answers, no nothing. 10 minutes worth of scenes streched out into 50 minutes. And based on the reviews that hated the show it will not get better, so goodbye.

Finally an X-Men I'm on board with
18 May 2020
I mean only the situation is similar to X-Men, not the story. This is how I would imagine it would play out in real life if there were people like these. No flashy effects, no ridiculous tech no distinct good guys and bad guys only the cold truth.

Unwatchable
27 April 2020
Not just because it's bad but because the camera keeps shaking violently and there is a cut in every 2 - 5 seconds. Whoever thinks this is a good way to raise the tension or whatever should just do us all a favor and quit their job today. Without notice. My eyes hurt from this unwatchable mess.

Surprisingly good
29 March 2020
I only watch these kind of movies because of my wife, I find most of them cheesy and full of clichés but this one was pretty okay, there are real emotions in it and, at least for the protagonist, real character development. Emilia Clarke was a superb choice for the lead role, she was cute and believeable. Even without the plot twist, which was clever by the way, I would have enjoyed the movie.

Works for me
29 March 2020
I don't usually like horror misteries but this one worked for me. You know how these movies build tension by not doing much, only some scary moments, usually jumpscares? I usually turn off those movies but this one kept me interested right until the end and that's more important than the number of plot holes.
