Art for art sake
31 March 2021
The key line of the movie is about a school teacher sex tape is leaked and she is in danger of losing her job. While it is rather interesting to learn more about Romania via random fact bits and sceneries, cutting movie time in (at least) half would not change anything, the story would be completely safe. So if you are about to watch this movie (although I'm not sure I'd recommend it), keep that trusty pillow and blanked near your side, just in case. Oh yeah, the movie does contain a number of explicit material scenes, but some of them also seemed to be added just for the shock element or an unnecessary filler.

Move along, nothing to see here

I love comedies and absolutely adore Tadas Vidmantas and his works, I really liked the first movie, but this one... I'd like to forget as soon as possible. I understand that it's hard to create humour, because you have to "hit the spot", but if we excluded (really impressive) part of Ineta Stasiulytė, the rest is pretty much boring and cringy.

Lots of scenes seemed to be "overworked" (it's not easy to watch when a lame character tries to be funny very hard), some of the jokes were plainly juvenile. I understood most of the jokes / references, but it was just not funny. Speaking about the characters, Timūras seemed subdued or something like that (the memorable duo really shined in the first movie), while others just gave pretty bland performances.

Soundtrack seemed also not up to director's standards. Even the script appeared to be a little bit rushed and unfinished. The first movie had at least a solid (although small) plot and this one... like watching glued together outtakes of the first movie.

In summary: + 1 for naturally funny Ineta Stasiulytė + 1 for Tadas Vidmantas (I'll still watch whatever he will create) + 0.5 for not letting the extremely unfunny Pobedonoscevas ruin the movie + 0.5 for the whole ad campaign, that lured me into seeing this movie.

Total: 3/10

You must be THIS HIGH to watch this movie...

I don't get it. Really. All the jokes in this movie are well... seen, bland and NOT funny. Even the infamous "Scary Movie 2" is better than this. Adventure ? Way much worse than also one of the lamest movies ever made - "Dude wheres my car ?". Scenario ? Morals ? Action ? All of them make no sense.

Maybe it's one of those movies that only Americans can understand (and maybe laugh ?), but for the rest of the world, I believe, it should look like one of the worst movies ever. I still watch at the rating 7.1 and contemplate how this could happen.

Seriously, if this movie is good, then Van Wilder should get an Oscar.

A movie for pure blondes
7 July 2003
Since I have seen the trailer of this movie for the first time, I dreamed of seeing it. Yun-Fat Chow, also the main actor in a movie "Crouching tiger, hidden dragon", was also one of the main reasons why I watched the "Bulletproof monk". Sadly, I was very disappointed. Despite of a great actor, this movie has introduced nothing new. Furthermore, I'd like to call it "a mixture" what was good or at least average in other great movies. A master monk, a mysterious scroll of infinite power, a guy, who wants to take over the world, a "bad guy" with good heart ? Haven't we seen this before ? Just add a couple of average fighting scenes, a pinch of decent visual effects, "Asian style" soundtrack, and here you go - a brand new movie. Save your money, or better, watch the incredible "Crouching tiger, hidden dragon" instead.
