FMW: Legend Dawns (2000)
Pretty Good Stuff
I'm a pretty big fan of FMW. Being that it's in Japan, it's hard to get a hold of their stuff. So when I heard that FMW would release some videos here in the States, I was pretty stoked. What these videos are, Legend Dawns specifically, are just various matches from early on in FMW's history, going up to maybe 1994 or 1995. So you're not getting anything too recent, but you are getting a quality product. The tape is filled with some great matches and great wrestlers (Hayabusa, Masato Tanaka, Yoshiaki Fujiwara, Megumi Kudo, Super Leather, Mike Awesome, etc.). If you're new to FMW, it's the perfect thing to introduce you to them and their style. For established FMW fans, if you haven't seen or own any of their older stuff, it's a great thing to get. There are quite a few other American FMW tapes put out, so I recommend that you check 'em out, as well. The only downsides to this tape is that there are no exploding cage deathmatches (what FMW is known for) and John Wantanabe and Eric Gellar's commentary can get really really annoying, but the great action will pretty much overshadow it. All in all, it's good watchin'!
Ceremony (1994)
The worst movie I have ever seen!
I first saw "Ceremony" after my friend and I rented it at Blockbuster. We were looking for a good movie to get and were torn between "Something About Mary" and "Ceremony". Now "Ceremony" had a very cool cover (gothic lettering, big ol' demon on the front), so we naturally assumed that it was an awseome flick, which led to us renting it. I wish we got "Something About Mary". After the first 10 minutes of this snorefest we were about ready to throw the VCR out the window. I won't spoil the ending, because I was too confused by the uneven plot to know what happened (I also stopped paying attention mid-way through. Maybe that's why). To sum up, A very slow-moving film with bad acting, bad dialouge, and something that looks like grape jelly being used for blood; that is "Ceremony". So if you are considering seeing this movie, beware! It is not what you expect. They say, "Don't judge a book by its cover," and for "Ceremony", it's true (except it's a movie, not a book).
