The Entitled (2011)
100% better than expected!
I watched this film with the fear that I was going to encounter yet another budget movie thrown together with a loose plot and mediocre acting. Well, needless to say, I was proved wrong on all counts. The background story was built up nicely and the plot laid out for you to see clearly, but then it twists and makes you think, then twists again making you doubt your theories of what is really going on. Liotta, Garber and McHattie were brilliant and worked perfectly together. I wouldn't mind seeing this trio working together in the future. Dustin Milligan was a surprisingly competent and believable actor which was a breath of fresh air as I don't recall ever seeing him in film before now. All in all a very good thriller/suspense that kept me entertained. Give it a watch is all I can say, hope this helps!
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)
I just do not understand the hype
I may seem to be missing the point on this film. As I trawled through most of the IMDb users reviews for this film (as I normally do because generally they are reliable, I thought "wow, I have to see this". Being an avid horror fan I was looking forward to this very much, and then I watched it. I don't understand why everybody was so "shocked, disturbed, scared, scarred" etc, etc, etc. There are many movies out there that are far scarier/disturbing than this (Bill Moseley in The Devil's Rejects was much better than this). I just felt bored through the whole film and could not wait for it to wrap up. The ending was fairly obvious and could easily be worked out right after they left the apartment. Anyway, this is my opinion so no hard feelings. I gave this film 2 points, purely for the "clay head, eye stab" scene that made me chuckle briefly ;)
The Killer Inside Me (2010)
I don't know what to say...
For me, this film made very little sense. Nowhere in the film does it express why Lou is suddenly behaving as he is (the only things I could pick up on were maybe him being raped by another boy when younger or having his (sister?) make him spank her). There does not seem to be any motive for his spontaneous violence.
That aside, affleck's acting was not that bad. I've not seen him in any other films that I recall so I was able to base my opinion of him on this film.
I suppose it is just one of those films where the main character "flips" for no reason and starts killing people and we are not really supposed to know why. From start to finish I kept finding myself thinking "what is happening? Am I missing something important?". If anyone can enlighten me, please do.
Overall, a fairly rubbish film in my opinion but I watched to the end to see if there was a conclusion or explanation. None.
