Champions (2023)
Wholesome, cute little movie
I don't really understand why the rating is so low, this movie is a gem. It is heartwarming, uplifting and also funny. The acting is great, especially of the young actors portraying the members of the sports team which bring authenticity and sincerity to their roles.
The movie also delivers a powerful message about the value of friendship, acceptance and compassion. It also shows that competition is not always the most important part - but cohesion, support and spending time with each other.
In my opinion it's a good option for anyone that wants to watch a 'good-feel' movie, suited for audiences of all ages.
The Re-Education of Molly Singer (2023)
Forgettable comedy that 'fails to graduate'
Where do they find those lazy writers and bad actors lately???
This movie is unoriginal, trying too hard to imitate other comedies like 'No Hard Feelings' or 'Never Been Kissed'. It's as if one is watching a collection of the unfunny pieces of former comedy movies lazily stitched together with the actors just accidentally being there without any spark between them. Even the loud, mainly teal costume design feels tired. Rather than offering fresh insights or original humor the movie constantly leans into situations that border on the absurd without ever fully committing to the humor (for example an overly lengthy drinking game scene with a terrible narration that has no punchline).
The dialogues and story line appear to be AI generated - as do all the positive reviews on here to be honest - and with lackluster performances and jokes that don't land, this film struggles to elicit even a chuckle from its audience. I wish i could give it less than one star.
