Sentimental fan service but my 10 year old loved it
15 November 2021
Don't want give away any spoilers but for a sequel to an irreverent and sarcastic comedy, this lacked that tone and was instead filled to the brim with reverence to all details, big and small, of that original. And that seemed misplaced to me - especially a very sentimental, cliché and corny ending. The kids were good and had some funny dialogue. The plot lacked stakes and clarity. As someone who loves the original, it had some cool moments that made me remember the original, but then often also didn't make a lot of sense in the logic of this story. All in all; entertaining and much better then the 2016 remake. But still nowhere close to the original in regards to comedy, tone and story. My 10 year old did however think it was the best film ever - so maybe i'm just old, grumpy and over-critical.

Just HORRIBLE!
28 December 2008
Just goes to show that quality has nothing to do with success. This was a huge hit in the cinema but both me and my girlfriend found it absolutely horrible.

It's not funny or romantic. Everyone is frantically doing their best to try to make it work and have it be fun but fail horribly. I wanted to throw something heavy at my TV screen.

And i work in a videostore and see about two films a day. Also, i have nothing against musicals, or ABBA. In fact i have their greatest hits cd and liked "hairspray" very much.

I just found it very poorly written, shot, staged and acted. It tried so hard to be fun(ny) but tried way too hard. I still can't understand it. To mess it up with THIS cast? How is that possible? After this debacle we watched Disney's "Enchanted". Now THAT was a good, funny and romantic movie that also has singing and dancing. That worked. This didn't! Say away from this piece of .... Far away!

a 6.0? That's a joke right?
29 November 2008
How could this get a 6.0 rating? Are we as horror fans so used to horror films being so utterly bad these days, that when one comes along that has some, and i repeat 'only some', redeeming quality's, we get much too excited and give a rating that is just a wee bit too high? The director has a certain visual flair. No doubt about that. But in between some decent shots he forgot a good story, mood or scares. It had a very slow first act, lazy killing scene's, annoying and flat characters and a very stupid and very unbelievable twist. And what's with the portrayal of American teenagers in so many of these kinds of films? Do they always have to be this stupid, irritating and so godd#mn superficial. I don't remember teens being like this when i grew up here in Holland. All things considered, in can't give this film anything more that a 4 out of 10 rating.

THE FORCE IS BACK!!!! (with me...)
25 May 2005
Sure, compared to many other movies, this one doesn't deserve a 10.

But for someone who grew up on the first movies (still have the old toys to prove it), and was very disappointed with the "clones" and "phantom" movies, "SITH" comes as a wonderful surprise.

The story is dark & serious, the acting = better, the cgi Yoda worked as did most of the special effects. The ending was the best of all - It really ties everything together in a wonderful way.

It's still not a perfect movie but it made me feel like that kid again, and i didn't expect that, and loved it for that reason.

BTW - I LOVE JOHN WILLIAMS

just a few words
12 February 2004
just HAD to put my comment here. I think that the rating given to this movie is far below what it deserves. I first saw this film when i was 17 and it scared the pans of me. Now more than ten years later i still think it works well. The story is simple and has a few holes but it's got a great soundtrack and very nice cinematography. The acting is better than in your common horror film. I rate this one 8 stars out of 10. And i believe that anything below a five rating is given by people who don't appreciate a good horror movie.

nothing to add.
22 April 2003
after watching this incredible film, i started reading all the comments posted on this site. I cannot add anything new that hasn't been written about by others. But this film left such a feeling of sorrow in my gut, that just for myself, i had to add my voice and say:"i will forever love this film" (...and will never watch it again)

Zus & Zo (2001)
just not funny
16 March 2003
an oscar nomination? why? this is first of all a play...not a movie. i don't think the people who made this ever heard of the "don't tell them, show them" concept. and if only the dialog was funny. but i didn't think it was. i missed the most important thing in this movie, the clear reason i should care (or understand) why the sisters wanted to stop the wedding. Yes, to keep the hotel. But why, other then for sentimental reasons, make such a big fight about it. There should have been a stronger reason for them to try and stop the wedding. All in all, it was a boring experience for me because i didn't care about (nor understood) the people and it just wasn't funny.

great muppet movie...
27 December 2002
i love this film. the songs and story lines are great fun. and the song "saying goodbye" always moves me. what a brilliant thing to do to bring puppets to life, in a way that you actually care about these things made of cloth and fabric and whatever. great voices and great talent. why were all the other muppet films that came after this one so much less interesting, moving and funny? is it that mr. henson is just so very missed?

14 September 2002
a lot has been written about this film. what can i add. words cannot come close as to how i feel about this film. i am a film student. an as an expressive art form this film isn't anything special BUT as an emotional experience, i can say that i cannot think of a more funny, exiting and moving film. thanx to everyone involved for just that warm little place that i can go to when i need it.

before spiderman
8 July 2002
long before Spiderman there was a sequel to a good horror film called "the evil dead". this sequel was the most outragious, wild, brilliant film i'd seen, and have seen since. the first half hour is absolutely brilliant. the "hand sequence" is unbelievable. and bruce campbell is just sooo good. "we just cut up our girlfriend with a chainsaw, now does that sound fine?": he makes lines like these work so well, you'll quote them forever....be warned

great BAD film
5 July 2002
this is not just a bad film, it's one of the worst films ever. it's so bad that i found it to be quite enjoyable. the acting, oh my god, the script, you gotta be kiddin'. how can you imagine the writer coming up with things like: - a kid who makes fireworks in school, fireworks SO powerfull, that when someone gets hit by it, they fly a hundred yards backwards and explode. -a girl is trapped in the celler, the killer is trying to break open the door. she gets a drill, but the wire isn't long enough. she first makes an extension cord, oh the horror, and then, when she's done, she drills through the door and drills through the head of the killer. WOW - and there are plenty more examples like that. oh yeah, and what happened to George Kennedy, he used to be great (Thunderbolt and Lightfoot/Cool hand Luke)
