a whole lot of build up...
17 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
So I went into this moving feeling very positive about it, knowing mostly all of the characters because of past movies or roles they have played. The stepfather is rated PG-13, meaning there wasn't going to be any gore, or swearing or nudity. Which is fine, because that doesn't make the movie at all. The story of David (the stepfather) is very unique, and he does do a very good job hiding everything and putting on a good, well amazing show to the family. He always seams to have an answer for any question about himself, but when he refuses to fill out paperwork to get paid for work, questions are raised about who this guy really is. The buildup in this movie is insane, literally I think I sat in the theater waiting for some drastic ending to the families lives for the whole hour and 40 so minutes. Don't get me wrong, the storyline is awesome and the anticipation of David killing the family is almost unbearable. But literally this movie wasn't suspenseful, it wasn't very 'thriller-ish' and definitely not scary. I jumped at one point in the movie when the son and stepfather were on the roof, thats it. I would wait to save the 10 bucks and watch it when it finally is released on TV, and thats only if its a REALLY rainy day.

I'm hungry for more!
18 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I just had the opportunity to see cloudy with a chance of meatballs in Dolby 3D, and to say the least it was amazing! I am a huge fan of this book, and have been looking forward to the release of this movie for months, however if you go into this moving hoping that its following the storyline of the book then you have it all wrong. It definitely was a KNOCKOUT in 3D, the animation was amazing and the hair on the characters looked so real that I could touch it! The storyline was extremely easy to follow, and the characters were so fun loving, especially the monkey 'steve', you felt sympathy for the town and the hard time they were going through, up until crazy scientist flint came in and made it rain cheeseburgers! In 3D it honestly looked good enough to eat, with spurts of mustard, cheese and the burger patties flopping right in front of me. I would definitely suggest seeing this film in 3D, i feel as if the writers made this film specifically to be shown in 3D, however thats not to say they rely on the 3D aspect for the film to be good. With or without the 3-D animation, this film is an amazing family film, extremely funny, and it makes you 'ice' screaming for more!

Maybe I was waiting for something more?
28 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
No matter what Ice Age will always do what it is known best for, have comedy and a fun loving story plot all in one. Of course everyone is in love and knows all of the familular faces and characters in the previous ice age movies, so that is no surprise. However, I was presently surprised with the introduction of Ellie into the movie. Shes perfect, and witty. She knows exactly when to say her peace, and when to shake her head and keep on moving. The movie overall was good, great story line and great lovable characters. You cant help to laugh at the 3 little eggs that Sid is taking care of for a whole day. Buck is hilarious! The way he goes about things is semi crazy, but a whole lot of fun. I brought my kids from day camp to see it, ranging in ages from 4-12, and when we left the theater they were all very happy at the end result and singing along to the song that was playing during the end credits. I personally will always admire Ice Age 2, I think that one was perfectly written and beautifully done, but Ice Age 3 hits the spot as well.

Orphan (2009)
8/10
Disturbing, On the edge of your seat film.
28 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
So I went into the Orphan thinking I just paid a good $7 to see a film like, The Ring or One Missed Call. However to my surprise Orphan kept me guessing until the very end! Not only is this film extremely disturbing, it also hits all the necessary horror film quotas. The cast is phenomenal. Isabelle Fuhrman who plays Ester is amazing. She puts on a great show, and really lives in the characters feelings and emotions. You honestly fall in love with her character within minutes, but know there is something terribly wrong with this little girl. Both Kate and John (the parents) are in short, perfect. Not only do they drive the best cars, and live in the nicest house but they have big enough hearts to adopt after losing a child in the womb. Im not going to lie, I was extremely disturbed and grossed out with Kates dream which showed her racing to the hospital with baby Jessica in her stomach, and as she is being wheeled down the hall a pool of blood is pouring on the floor behind her. Then the images and the graphic detail of Jessica being literally ripped out, and the doctor handing her a bloody baby was one of the most disturbing thing I've seen shown in a movie in a REALLY long time. You have to feel bad for Kate, not only did she lose a child at full term, but her daughter Max is deaf. I felt a lot of remorse for both Kate and John while I began watching this movie, especially with the white roses. (Nothing to do with the film, but the characters names, Kate and John, ironic because there is a famous couple Jon and Kate Gosslin who are very well known and very successful)

The movie was very well written and the secret behind Ester was GREAT! I was extremely pleased when I walked out of the theater, and am glad I didn't waste my $7 on another lousy horror flick.

Katherine Hiegl and Gerard Butler are perfect!
28 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
So not only are the previews for the movie hilarious, but literally the entire movie I was sitting on the edge of my seat laughing at all of the raunchy comedy that Hiegl and Butler put together. The story of Hiegl's character is one that is all too familular, the beautiful successful work-a-holic who is waiting for the perfect guy to come around. But Butler's twist on what the perfect guy really is really kicks Hiegl in the butt! The comedic relief is outstanding in this movie. I not only found myself laughing, but every guy in the theater cracking up every time Butler spoke, as well as when Hiegl and Butler were in a scene together. The movie is terrific, the very last scene just makes perfect sense for the movie. Hiegl and Butler really hit this one out of the park!

Year One (2009)
4/10
a LOT of 'high school' humor
20 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
so, i went into this movie already knowing that there were going to be a ton of sexual innuendos, but honestly i didn't know how many they could pack into one movie at a time. i do admit the characters were very intriguing and funny, they put on an amazing show, but the references to biblical characters and situations, put a non-church goer questioning almost every scene.

so michael cera as Oh, did a fantabulous job. his character was incredibly witty and cooky. almost every time he said a line a laugh came bursting out of my mouth. jack black was also very entertaining, i particularly am not a black fan, but he did have me laughing a whole lot!

it was nice to see a fresh face like juno temple as eema. her character was like the typical 13-15 year old with the attitude and the uncanny jokes. and maya (june diana raphael) her by-far funniest moment in the movie was when she was about to be sacrificed.

overall, this isn't a movie to run out to the theaters and go see.. it is funny and it is all about 'year one' but, it would have been just as good (and a whole lot cheaper) to wait until it came out on DVD and watch it at home.

wow.
24 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
wow, i was completely taken back (ha ha) by this movie. it is so inspiring and the love liam nelsons character has for his daughter is breathtaking. this truly is an amazing movie that was written really well. there is little to no down time in this movie, constant fight and a constant run to save his little girl. i found this movie to be inspiring and full of action all at once. he literally takes down half of Paris to save his girl. of course anyone would cringe watching those helpless girls be sold towards the end of the movie, it was sickening to think things like this really do happen. liam nelson definitely won the 'dad of the year' award with this movie, and im hoping a lot more w/ Oscars and grammys coming up soon! amazing plot and action packed!

breath of fresh air!
19 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
i find myself not only dvr'ing this entire series but sitting in front of the TV anxiously awaiting of the arrival of amy and rickys baby. the story behind the show of the whole 'band camp' thing is kinda lame because American pie has already done that. however, this show is inspiring and enlightening. every show they try and throw something in there that teens need to be aware of, weather it is the pill, getting tested, practing safe sex or even being comfortable talking to a doctor or your parents they are constintally trying to put things into the show that will influence watchers to do good. i love the characters and can relate to them so well. I was the typical girl in high school who honestly didn't do anything wrong, i stuck to the 'plan' and had my beliefs about teen pregnancies and pro-choice. i strongly believe that the choice of amy either keeping her baby or giving it to a loving couple is all up to the writers. because as an avid watcher i cant make my mind up myself, as to what she should do. BUT. i do want to see amy and ben back together. they are the one good thing in this show. i love the connection between all of the characters, ricky is such a 'bad' kid and the actor who plays ricky does this part SO well. he really puts himself into rickys shoes and you can tell, he shines as an actor. amy plays her character well as well, with the amount of intelligence she has to do with staying in school and making the right decisions not only for her but for her baby really shows how mature she is as an actress and a person. the other characters grace, tom, adrian, ben they all do a lovely job really placing themselves in their characters shoes. the show is a really moving one, with a lot of twists and turns. you could start watching it half way through the season and pick up on the characters and the storyline at any time!

love kevin james!
19 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I've always been a huge kevin james fan ever since king of queens. he always happens to play this character who you want to feel bad for, but cant help laughing at and with him. the entire concept of the movie is hilarious, simply because in my local mall we do have 'mall cops' who ride around on those segways. i do find it quite comical how they interpret all cops to be that intense with their job. honestly, i can think of at leat 3 malls i have been to that has ONE blart in their somewhere. i liked the twist the movie takes with the newbie being the bad guy, its funny yet serious. blarts family is cute and quaint, the irony of the whole online dating thing did bring a little humor to the film. one thing i did question the moment james popped up on the screen was how much weight he gained. im wondering if it was for this role - because in turn he was playing an overweight character - but he did appear to be a bit hefty. it was disappointing, and i hope to see him a little more in shape in future films. but his weight did have a positive role in this movie with all of the puns at how big he was he squished one girl and TRIED to break down hallmarks doors. good film, with a ton of funny parts!

interesting for sure!
19 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
so i went into this film not really knowing much about the story behind it, other then in the previews drew berrymore says something on the lines of 'he myspaced me' and then began to discuss flirting while texting. its funny to think that we all do it, we're in this huge generation who relies on technology to get our information and be our key resource to the outside world. it almost seamed as if i was watching a TV show with all of the different story lines going on. jumping from one story to the other was difficult to keep my focus, it seamed almost as if once i began to care about one character and put together the pieces of their problem, the story ended and went on to another character and their issue. the movie however did flow well, and the cast is HUGE with a ton of big name characters. it was definitely a movie i would take my girlfriends to see. it did run rather long however, about an hour into the movie i found myself loosing focus. however, that is when the story is starting to get good with the whole cheating aspect and loosing the one you begin to care about. cute movie, 6 out of 10.

not that great...
19 February 2009
so this is the first time I've ever seen a Friday the 13th movie and i was pretty disappointed. i was expecting a scary movie, and yes there were some jumpy parts, however i found myself laughing and cheering on the victim's as they ran away from Jason. The whole thought behind being stranded in the woods always creeps me out, personally, so it did attract my attention somewhat. the story made total sense however, with the whole - this is why Jason is the person he is. it was nice being able to watch one of the what? thirty Friday the 13ths and not feel like i had no idea what was going on. it was an okay movie, the acting was well, pretty much nudity, some jumpy parts, a lot of crude humor and some story line. 4 our of 10.

great movie! (SPOILERS)
8 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I suppose the first time I saw a preview for 21 was probably close to 7 months ago, so I did know there was a film coming out and it looked fairly interesting. Since I am getting around the age of being able to gamble and go to vegas, it was nice being able to see the scene of vegas in an up-to-date movie! I love the characters, and im sorry the Asian kid.. haha all I could think of was disturbia ringtone.. HAHA!

I loved the way Kevin Spacey played the whole good guy, bad guy role.. It was nice seeing him in a role like this, simply because I relate him back to Pay it Forward, and I believe that this is a great role for his personality. The main character does a great job really showing the struggles that college students do face everyday. Though most of us cannot say that we have a 4.0 at MIT and are awaiting money to attend Harvard, I can personally relate to the financial struggle college does bring to myself personally. Maybe I should go card count!??

Once you started to pay attention I really began figuring out the true meaning behind card counting and it really is very simple, with the word connection to the card value. As for the gestures, they were a big out there, and I really think that Vegas PD would catch on to the whole arm behind the back thing 10 times quicker, simply because it is such a drastic move.

The movie is great, and I personally loved it because it played out the roles of each of the characters and came to a conclusion with all of them. Sorry, but it was nice seeing what happened to Spacey at the end. :]

7 out of 10! Go see this film!

okay
25 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
So going into this movie I was trying to be optimistic and have a positive view point. I had seen all of the previous scary movies, date movie, epic movie.. etc..etc..etc! So when I first saw previews for this movie, I didn't think much of it. Simply because they were pretty much making fun of some of the best movies of the year. 300 was an amazing movie, and they poke fun at it.. once.. HA. Overall it was a funny movie, made fun of Britney and the fact that she doesn't take care of her children, and poked fun at Donald trump. Of course, Carmen Electra is back.. is this the only kind of movies she can do? Movies that poke fun at her, and stereotype her. LAME. But personal preference. March of the penguins, Stomp the yard, Norbit (kind of with the fat girl), 300 & all those Spartans.. made fun of.

Cloverfield (2008)
8/10
GREAT TWIST AT END! (if you caught it!) SPOILERS!
25 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
So like most movie buffs, I lined up for the 9 o clock showing on Friday night for cloverfield. The previous viewers, the 7 o clock showing was leaving and of course some game away the movie, but luckily enough I had already read all about it on IMDb before hand. The movie at first starts out with a warning that this is evidence found from central park, which pretty much insists that the characters that were in central park were dead. The relationship is built between the main character Rob and Beth seamed helpless... however, that is what the movie is pretty much based upon.

I think the most intense scene in the movie is when they are sitting in the subway station waiting. It almost seamed crazy they were going down there, but where else would you hide? I was waiting for a loud boom, or some creature to appear suddenly while at the station, however, nothing happened. Which left you with more fear of what is happening above ground.

Marlena exploding was amazing. Some people in the theater thought that she was shot, however, you can clearly see the two army men holding her and her body going crazy and her head exploding.

The run to get beth was full of intense action and loud noises. The camera was NOT steady at all during the running scenes, however, it was easy to catch everything going on.

The monster seamed to be a cross between a crab and a spider.. with little babies? or workers. Some believe that the monster WAS a baby, and the mother will be the main MONSTER in cloverfield2.

STAY TUNED!

SPOILERS.

*while on the bridge there is a quick shot of robs brother on the pole, then for a brief second the camera focuses on someone else recording.

*at the end in the central park scene, at the very last second it cuts back to the ferris wheel, then back to them. if you look closely you can see that the monster drops the minis into the ocean/lake right before heading towards central park.

*end credits. at the very end of the credits there is a code that is written backwards. of course, i didn't have time to figure out what it said. but stay until the VERY END.

Surprisingly hilarious
25 January 2008
When I think of Ben Stiller, instantly I think of Meet the parents, and Meet the Fokers. So when I saw he was coming out with what appeared to be a romantic comedy, it was definitely added to the top of my Netflix cue (ha ha). The movie starts out fairly plain and boring, average guy that cant find a woman, then out of no where he meets the woman of his dreams.. come to find out she is a complete physco. I really felt for his character when they were in the Mini Coop while she is singing every single song on the radio. The vacation seamed a bit off when Carlos Mencia (mind of mencia) is one of the main characters. The movie was hilarious. Especially the awkward nude sex scenes where all the wife is doing is yelling out obnoxious things at Stiller while naming off random sex positions.. I found myself laughing the most during the sex scenes, simply because they were so far out and crazy.. Pretty much if you could imagine your honeymoon in an amazing beautiful place + everything imaginable going wrong + finding a better, nicer and richer woman.. is pretty much this movie.

Surprisingly hilarious. With a twist at the end. Didn't care for the ending, I was hoping it was going to end by him getting the girl...

rent it!

Greek (2007–2011)
8/10
kappa..kappa
16 January 2008
So when I first saw commercials for Greek I did have a few questions to how they were going to approach Greek life, if they were going to give away sacred frat and sorority secrets, if they were going to focus on the brother and sisterhood a fraternity or sorority brings, or what most college kids think of Greek life as a huge party.

Luckily, it covered everything. The story plot was great, it gave you a character to love, hate, someone you want to be like, someone you don't want to be like, and of course a crazy roommate!

It was one of my first looks at what writers believed Greek life to be like, and I can honestly say they hit the nail pretty dead on.

I love how one of the biggest things they covered throughout the season was the relationship between Rusty and his crazy roommate. Its hard enough moving away from home, and being forced to live in a small room with someone you don't even know, then come to find out.. you have nothing in common. Probably every college bound freshmens worst nightmare.

Rustys sister Casey was pretty much the typical girl on campus EVERYONE is jealous of. What didn't she have? Oh thats right.. Evan all to herself. Rebecca and Evan had an "affair" early into the season, which made you feel fairly sympathetic for Casey. Her character evolved, and her relationship with Rusty became more and more loving and outgoing.

Cappie is one of the most fun loving characters, and absolutely insane. One of my favorite episodes included him getting completely trashed at a strip club, and Rusty having to call Casey to bail them out. I like how they addressed the issue of gay people in Greek houses, Calvin was a very real feeling character, and I really respected him because he stuck to his standards. So Jen K was fairly crazy, but she actually liked Rusty. It was surprising and I continued to question her from the start, but of course, I did want it to work out between her and Rusty.

I am definitely looking forward to the return of Greek. It takes you into the truth of Greek life, something that a lot of people look past. One of the biggest things that frats and sororities are known for is parties and drinking. Greek is a great show, and the characters are easy to relate to.

I thought foreign movies were suppose to be scary?
16 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
So when I decided to go see this movie with a few friends, I was definitely on the edge of my seat, hoping it was going to be good. The previews spooked me a bit, with the crazy faces and images. A few minuets into the movie Meagan Good is instantly killed off. Personally, I respect her as an actress and not only does my boyfriend find her attractive, but I was shocked they would kill off the "pretty girl". First negative.

As the movie progresses, there is barely any story line behind any of the characters. I personally found it to be funny that she was afraid of peep-holes, until we found out why. The movie was definitely a jumper, it did do well with having you thinking something was going to happen, then just before that moment scaring you.. but I just was not impressed with the ending. So, pretty much the entire movie we were suppose to be afraid of an inhaler and a cell phone. Inatamate objects, awesome. I was hoping this movie with the small hype it did receive it would for once follow through with a scary, on the edge of your seat movie. DENIED! So, pretty much this leaves me hoping that the next movie made from a foreign film, please be scary. PLEASE!

Saw IV (2007)

finally answers!
16 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Every Halloween I look forward to the Saw movies, Saw 3 left us with questions with no answers. Luckily enough this movie does answer most of mine.

I personally enjoyed this movie, and cannot wait until the next one comes out. It goes into the story of John the 'dead' man who started this entire thing, and reasons why he does this to people he believe are un-deserving of their life. I think the right people were brought back, However, there was a small part of me that wanted John to still be alive, and the body be a dud. WRONG!! The torture scenes are awesome, and creative all in one. I love the saw movies because of the torture scenes, and the thought process he goes through to put them together. Every time I watch the movies I find myself questioning if I am deserving of my life, is anyone for that matter? What would John do with the negative choices each and every one of us make every day. With the choice of driving our cars and polluting the air, Eating fast food and contributing to an overly obese society... and the list goes on and on.

Saw movies are made for the gore, torture and of course to make MONEY! The movie is great, and answers A lot of questions, but also made me question myself as well.

The Girls Next Door (2005–2010)

I absolutely love this show and the DVD box sets. I didn't know much about playboy, and through watching the show and getting to know the girls you come to realize Hef does so much for them. The girls are fun loving and crazy, they definitely keep Hef on his toes!

I love the relationship you learn about between Holly Madison and Hef. I think it really shows viewers and critics that it is possible for someone to love someone who is much older or younger then them, and not be with them just for the money.

I also think it was inspiring that Hef really wants the girls to succeed, and by doing so helps them with schooling and furthering their education. The girls are very lucky to Hef in their life, and they do not take him for granite at all! It's clear to any viewer that Hef cares deeply for the girls and they are not just another bunch of girlfriends.
