Steel Country (2018)
What a simple, yet powerful movie
A slow burner, but with patience this soon becomes a very interesting story of how the locals and law enforcement cover up a young boy's death. Donald is not deterred, by anyone and his need to get to the bottom of Tyler's death and to get justice for Tyler makes this even more gripping. Donald's character is not one you'd expect for this story. He quiet, shy and possibly on the spectrum himself, explains his obsession. He will not rest until he knows what happened. He is a superhero without a cape, because his love for his own children, especially his relationship with daughter is evident throughout the film and this love is what drives him to not let this go. Bronagh Waugh is on of favourite actresses, so I was pleasantly surprised to see her supporting. Another superhero working in the background. There's no fancy camera angles or bright lights, which makes a change. Good to see another great British production doing the rounds.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Phenomenal
Yes it's childish, but it's a superhero movie. I loved every minute of it. You're in for a big surprise. So many villains and heroes in one place, we have been throughly spoilt. I'm not going to spoil it for you, just enjoy.
King Richard (2021)
I wish the movie was longer
Don't be put off by the haters. I knew I'd come here to find a barrage of negative reviews. Why does that not surprise me? I held my hand up with pride watching this movie and I loved it. I know it will inspire young black girls to take sports like tennis and golf where they would previous not have been welcome. My only gripe is, I wish the film had told the story of Sareena as well. There's definitely room for a sequel or biopic based on Sareena.
Suspect (2022)
Make your own judgement. Personally I really liked it
I really don't understand why people say "Don't waste your time" or "Don't bother" Do they really think that we don't have minds of or own? Give I've a go and see for yourself. Each to their own I say. I personally like everything that James Nesbitt is in, so I'm quite biased. I'm enjoying it so far, as the twist at the beginning already has me gripped. I will certainly watch it until the end. I quite like the fact that each episode is only 30 minutes long.
Vendetta (2022)
Worth a watch
These kinds of films make me so angry. It was neither good or bad. These scumbags kill an innocent child and are out for revenge after her father kills the perpetrator. Now there's a full on war. I really shouldn't watch these films. I know they're only fiction, but they do boarder on reality. Imagine people out there thinking they can do what they want and seemingly get away with it. I do wonder if these wannabe gangsters get their ideas from films? Maybe I'm just getting old. Don't like seeing Bruce Willis playing a baddie.
Black Mirror (2011)
Every episode leaves me flabbergasted!
I'm a huge Black Mirror fan and was extremely honoured to have taken part in one of the episodes. This shows never fails to enlighten and inform us. It's so ahead of it's time and serves as a real lesson to us, even it seems a little weird. Life is getting weird, so we better be prepared for what's ahead. Charlie Brooker is a genius.
Dynasty: Something Desperate (2019)
Still watching, definitely my guilty pleasure
Ok, it has been getting a bit far fetched as it goes along, but I'm still watching, and this episode is by far the best one. It shows that actors can sing and dance too. Let's be honest, a lot of actors and actresses are not given the credit they deserve. I really loved the singing. Fallon is definitely a love or hate character, devious, but caring, dim, but smart and I'm loving her outfis. I can't help thinking that I'm watching Lindsay Lohan. And Blake singing? It's complete madness, but I'm here for it. I was singing along to the 80s songs. Everybody wants to rule the world.
Beckett (2021)
Don't be put of by the negative reviews
John David Washington is a rising star. Can't think for the life of me why people don't like him (That was sarcasm)
I've been drawn to a few of his movies and have always ended up liking them. BlacKkKlansman, Tenet and now this.
Yes it's dramatic and far fetched, but that's the movies for you. It's not based on real life, except for the corruption and the lengths people will go to get what they want.
Here we have a black man in a country where he doesn't speak the language and he sticks ouy like a sore thumb. He's the good guy, not a thief or a drug dealer and I'm here for it. Looking forward to seeing him in more positive roles.
Ride (2018)
A real tear jerker
Jeez, I didn't think I'd be sobbing so early in the morning. I wish they'd make more films like this. A real heartwarming story, with a great cast and a happy ending. My daughtr use to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater on her PlayStation. She wasn't into skateboarding or BMX riding, but for some reason the film poster brought back all those memories, and of course Ludacris is starring in it, playing a softer side I've never seen before. I don't want to spoil the film, so give it a watch, you won't be disappointed. Just good, honest fun, with lessons to be learned. Watching a person rise from adversity always gets me. Bravo!
Greta (2018)
Chilling, but bizarre
I watched it all the way through, but I was screaming at the TV. A bit obvious, with a few holes, but I quite enjoyed it. She deserved everything she got, silly girl. The moral to this story, listen to your friends. Good ending.
