8MM (1999)
disturbing, but without a doubt a must see!
8mm is a great movie, without a doubt its in my top 10
This movie has the same kind of disturbing topic than se7en, of course it has the same screenwriter, but I think this one's way better. If you're sick and tired of corny endings this movie is for you, this is what reality looks like.
***SPOILERS (kind of)*** my favorite quotes: Tom Welles: "I'll never get tired of hurting you Eddie" (when the private detective is beating the sh*t of one of the snuff film makers
Machine: "What did you expected, a monster?" (when the killer loses his mask and reveals his face)
awesome movie
my rating: 9 out of 10 (10 being perfection)
The Last Boy Scout (1991)
The sky is blue, the water is wet, this movie rocks
"The Last Boy Scout" is one of those movies I've catched like a hundred times on TV, and every single time I've watched it and enjoyed it even more than the last time. It´s a great 90´s flick with lots of action, and sarcastic dialogue. If you like Bruce Willis Playing a really tough guy with an attitude that loves to do the right thing, this movie is for you.
Willis plays this type of characters great, Joe Hallenbeck (Willis' character) is pretty similar to John McLane (Willis' character in Die Hard). Plus this time he has a sidekick, Jimmy Dix (Wayans' character).
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
Basically the plot is about a scum bag detective who's trying to save the life of the man who ruined his career, and avenge the death of the guy that was having sex with his wife.
Not that you care, but my favorite part is when some thugs kidnap Joe, and he's like all cool and asks one of the thugs for a cigarette, he hands him the pack and Joe pulls one, then he asks for a light, and the thug says "yeah why not?" and when he's about to light Joe's cigarette, he punches him, then Hallenbeck spits some blood and says "I'm sorry, I dropped my cigarette, can I have another one?" both thugs are like "what's wrong with this guy?" the same guy hands him his pack again just when Joe says "I need a light, touch me again and I'll kill you" - "here you go" says the thug, and punches Joe again and gets a laugh, just when out of nowhere Joe stands up and punches that dude's nose into his brain killing him, leans down for the lighter and calmly says "Told ya".
If you have seen the movie you know what I mean, and if you haven't, and like what you just read, let me tell you, the movie is full of stuff like that.
The What a Cartoon Show: Johnny Bravo (1995)
Great cartoon's cartoon
In 1995 cartoon network came up with "world premiere toons", such as "the powerpuff girls", "cow and chicken", and of course "Johnny Bravo" this guy is a male bimbo, with Elvis' haircut, Travolta's moves plus he is a graduate in all forms of martial arts except zumo, he's still studying it. The animation is pretty good, the plot is ok and the dialogs are great. I strongly recommend it. 10 out of 10
Desperado (1995)
Awful sequel
Contains ***spoilers***, but in my opinion, this movie is not worth the time.
O.k. in "El Mariachi" it was cool idea a guitar case full of guns, but here we see a guitar case that contains a guitar that contains guns, but thats not all, we also see Banderas' sidekicks (Campa and Quino, who by the way, one of them is Carlos Gallardo, the original mariachi) that use guitar cases disguising a machine gun and a bazooka!!! I mean c'mon, which takes me to the next question, where did Campa and Quino came from? o.k. el mariachi could have met them between the first movie and this one, but why do this guys carry massive destruction weapons on their guitar cases? And what's with the main plot? Banderas is seeking this guy Bucho to kill him because he is supposed to be Moco's boss (Moco is the man who killed the woman el mariachi loved), but el Mariachi had already taken care of Moco, so where does Bucho fits the picture? but that's not all, it turns that Bucho is el mariachi's brother. It's bad stuff followed by worse.
I think Desperado fits in the top ten of bad second parts, and if you were planning on watching this movies to see Salma Hayek nude, think twice or watch it frame by frame.
Interesting performances by Tarantino and Buscemi.
I loved "El Mariachi" but I think Rodriguez didn't took very well the hollywoodization. He made the movie that gave him a name with $7000, and a few years later we see this terrible big budget movie.
But hey, give it a try, the worst thing that could happen is that you hate the movie just as I did, but if you like lots of bullets and lots of bad guys dead you may as well like it, like some of my friends.
G-Force: Guardians of Space (1987)
Some loved it, some hated it
I remember being about 11 and talking with my friends about about our favorite cartoons during the recess, and like I said before some loved it some hated it, obviously I was one of the followers. Even though it was an 80s cartoon it seemed like it tried to represent the 70s, when our heroes were not in action. My favorite character was Dirk, but they were all great, always fighting against Gallactor's lieutenants, and their soldiers, the costumes were great! One thing that I have to admit was pretty annoying was the background music, it didnt changed in romantic scenes, nor action, nor drama nor any, but besides that everything was more than O.K. Since I didnt saw the cartoon in English some names may not be the original ones, but we had Ace, the leather, Dirk, Agi, Pee Wee, and Auti (the Phoenix's pilot) Gallactor a super villain and of course Dr. Brilliant Mind (at least that was the translation).
I only saw the final episode once and sadly all I can remember is... (you may not want to keep reading since I will reveal the same of the real hero and Gallactor's identity) ...that Dirk was the one who unmasked Gallactor and it was like pretty weird he explodes and becomes one with Computor (the prime evil one).
Dont you just hate when you happen to find a re-run on t.v. and it is ALWAYS the same one? I've seen the first episode like 15 times.
Why cant we see again cartoons like this one, or Defenders of the Earth, He-Man, Bravestarr, Thundarr the Barbarian, Kidd Video, and all of those 80s cartoons lots of us grew up with...
