A Bronx Tale (1993)
My alltime favorite film
I love this movie. I've watched it over 20 times. It often makes me cry..I guess I think of my relationship with my own father.
I don't understand why this movie is virtually unknown.
When Sonny locks the bikers in the bar and says "now youse can't leave" wow...I still get gooseflesh.
It's a little unreal about how blase the Italians were about C dating a black girl. I grew up in Brooklyn in the sixties and it was unrealistic to think this wouldn't be frowned upon.
One point I think is interesting..when they are beating up the black kids on the bikes, the soundtrack is Knights in White Satin by The Moody Blues...could that be a reference to the Ku Kux Klan..white satin..white sheets...violence against blacks. I never saw any comment about this point.
Hard Times (1975)
ONE OF MY FAVORITES
This film really captures the flavor of the depression. I think it's Bronson's best, and that's saying a lot because "Mag 7" and Great Escape are also on my watch "over and over" list. Very few comments here about Strother Martin as Dr. Poe--what a great choice for a great "character". A "guy movie" to the hundredth power, I'll never tire of it.
Map of the Human Heart (1992)
Wonderful Film
I had to drive 38 miles to see it..But it was fantastic. I'm usually a "guy Movie" person, but this film moved me so profoundly. The ending was extremely sad. A beautiful movie anyone would enjoy.
The Boondock Saints (1999)
it's not Quentin-SO WHAT
All these film purist whiners make me sick ! This is a great unsung film....sure, it's corny and somewhat predictable...but it's great fun. And Willam DaFoe is fantastic as Agent Smecker. I also love The Wanderers and Map of the Human Heart---so, now you can decide to take me seriously or not. I give it a "9".
