Dura (2005)
This film is NOT comedy!
Advertising of "Dura" make sense of funny film for resting. Really it is hard, offensive drama. Grotesque, 'cartoon' persons of second plane. Great actors, nice play in the center of view.
Film opens souls of three main characters. Film asks about responsibility of creator. Any creator. Artist or actor, director or mother... Film cause you to laugh and cry at the same time. Many times. Film is based on some 'today' situation here, in Russia. But it's basic senses, ideas are eternal.
In film we see invalid woman. But she is shown WITHOUT pity to her, WITHOUT any 'social dramatization' of her life. She lives in real world, and this world is NOT 'politically correct' at all.
Zloy dukh Yambuya (1979)
One of the best thrillers made in Soviet Union
In the aesthetic sphere, this film may be compared with 'Dersu Uzala', great masterpiece of Akira Kurosava. You may even see some trivial parallelism in story lines of these two films.
If we talk about psychological and emotional aspect, we may compare it with Hitchcock's movies.
I've got great suspense from this film. Horror is growing from episode to episode. Far cry take your heart by cold fingers. Steps on the ground. Steps on rocks... You don't see danger until it close enough. You are not sure you see what you get.
Nature is full of power. You are small in comparison with it. You are great to choose right way through it. You are happy to return home after all.
Pereval (1988)
This is not simple adventure. It's cultural trip.
Look with attention.
Alien planet. Look! See Pictures from Earth culture. See art of mathematician A.Fomenko becoming alive here. Listen to Poems of Sasha Chyorny and songs of Vladimir Vertinsky.
Strange, kind adventure.

It's better to say 'Horror', not Science-Fiction-only story. ;-)
It is not film of 'clean genre'.
I think, that this film is of psychological/Horror theme.
Of course, it's based on Science-Fiction story.
Film contains some references to world-wide culture and some references to Russian/Soviet reality.
Many episodes are built without traditional horror elements, but the result is great psychological pressing. The end of film is much closer to Horror genre.
