Long Night's Journey Into Day (2000)
One of the best movies
This movie grows in you, even if you didn't like it that much.... like a dream.
This movie is mesmerizing. I'd highly recommend it to anyone open to dreamy/surreal filmmaking. I was so excited about this film! The dream sequence has long been a staple of the movies & this film is full of them. A highly rated film. It has been given 10 stars.
The camerawork throughout is a genius, and the visuals and writing overlap in ticklish little ways across scenes, encouraging you to connect the puzzle pieces yourself. Don't get confused because of the first hour-yeah its very slow and maybe boring, but the one hour makes up for everything. A straight masterpiece!
The Gods Must Be Crazy II (1989)
A very funny movie.
Never before or since has there been such a goofy movie with such a profound message. Extremely underrated.
There is a scene in the movie whereby the rocket launcher was blowing up a bunch of bananas... Just thinking about that scene later would make me break into a wide, stupid grin wherever I was when I thought of it. School, work, the mall, a party, didn't matter. That scene made me look like an idiot lots of times.
This is one of my favorite movies as a kid, I still love this movie. I haven't seen it in ages but I'd watch any time.
My father absolutely LOVED this movie as well as my little sister.
Tsotsi (2005)
Great movie!!
South Africa has given us some great films but this one tops it, its one of Africa best movies, it makes me proud to be African.
I was 8 when this movie came out, I couldn't watch it at that time though, I only watched it when I turned 10 at Kolonade mall, ster kinekor. Its an official child hood memory unlocked. I recently watched it for the 4th time and I'm still amazed by this movie, I'd recommend this movie to anyone who wants a South African movie to watch, this is the one to watch.
The actors are beyond phenomenal and story line itself is just brilliant!! What an amazing movie to watch.
