The Movies (2005)
A great game about the movies industry!
It is one of the very few attempts where a game is about the movies industry. The game is very detailed, and it represents the whole movie making process very well. It is very accurate concerning the movies history and the technology used in your movies fits in the era you are. I really enjoyed the idea of a radio station broadcasting the news and giving you information about the movies industry.
However, it is not so simple, and it might take you some time to play the game without difficulties. You will have to take care of many things at the same time, such as movie making, lot maintenance, taking care of your stars etc. The competition also, during the award ceremonies is tough, and you'll have to be tolerant in order to achieve your goals.
There is also the choice of making your very own movie. In fact, you must chose carefully scenes that are relevant. You can not chose a standard plot and work on it, however, you can work on ready movies and improve them. You can also add soundtrack and other sounds, as well as subtitles. It is a good attempts that gives the player the chance to make his own movie, but if you think you can create something like "Lord of the Rings" or "Godfather", you'll be a bit disappointed.
To conclude, it is a great game that everyone should play, especially Sim game and movies lovers.
Rambo (2008)
Welcome to the slaughter!
Rambo is back! I had seen all the previous movies in DVDs and I liked them. But the new film beats all the previous! Although too cruel, it was interesting and I did not felt bored at all during the film. I really enjoyed the flashback John Rambo had, which could give you an idea about John, if someone had not seen any of the previous movies.
However, it was a bit tough to see all those heads, arms and legs flying during the battles, but it boosts your adrenaline for sure! When the films ends, you want to punch whoever is in front of you! All those scenes where representing the hell over Vietnam and the nearby areas (such as Burma), during the civil war.
Finally, I liked very much the soundtrack, especially the epic main theme.
A film that action lovers (over 17) must see!
Silent Hill (2006)
Good movie-not like the game though!
I saw that movie not long ago. There are good points but some bad as well. First of all, I would like a male character. There was a man in the game, not a woman. She is TOO tough for a woman! Then, the setting was very good, the town was creepy and the siren sound was terrifying! Good atmosphere, good actors but not the best director. Somewhere in the middle it was getting a bit boring, as the only thing the star was doing was running in the city looking for her child. Her man's role was not so important, although he could give us some information about the whole story about Silent Hill (when he met with the policeman). The monsters where carefully designed, although they gave you a splatter/b-movie sense.
It is worth watching though, especially with all those Extras included.
Dagon (2001)
A very good film.
I have already rent Dagon 2 times. My opinion on the film is that it uses very good the atmosphere of the novel. Espesially the town is creepy and it gives you a sense that you are completely isolated. I liked the representation of the places and all the buildings. The actors where quite good. I was only a bit disappointed from the ending (I didn't like it in the novel as well). Worth renting it, especially if you are a thriller/b-movie fan. Barbara was really beautiful, although a bit over-dramatic. The director was good too. The soundtrack, although pleasing, it would not be remembered by anyone. But it is not disturbing as well.
