Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (2009)
It's a nice popcorn flick that has some odd flaws
The good being: Superman and Batman's banter and chemistry on-screen being my absolute favorite parts of the film. Close second goes to seeing the two's rogues gallery mixed together, with some obscure picks making the cut.
On the mid point: Some of the fight scenes lacked impact. To be more specific, it felt like half of the hits in a scene had proper weight behind them. While the other half fell flat. The redesigns of some characters were...interesting to say the least. Not that any design looked outright bad, just strange.
And finally the bad: The art style made certain characters look too detailed and busy. With others being bland or just outright off-putting, Power Girl being the main example of this.
Best Seller (1987)
Nice Thriller
A fun crime thriller that kept me on edge for the entire film.
Though at times it feels more like a buddy cop film. Not that it's a bad thing, what with the amazing chemistry between Cleve and Dennis. With my personal favorite being Cleve. I just love how the character switches between different masks given the situation. From a sweet family loving son to a cunning snake in waiting and everything in between. And seeing the cracks in those masks as the film goes on is just priceless
Only real complaints I have are that all the other characters aren't as developed or fleshed out as the main two. And that the ending falls flat a little.
Go give it a watch, at about an hour and a half, it flies by and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix (2023)
A little light but enjoyable nonetheless
Coming into Captain Laserhawk, I had little to no expectations or knowledge as to what I was getting into.
To my surprise, I was greeted to a cast that consisted of characters or references of various Ubisoft properties. (Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good and Evil, and Far Cry to name a few.) All taking place within a cyberpunk setting composed of regular humans and hybrids. (Anthropomorphic animals.)
If you're familiar with the Suicide Squad, you'll have an idea of how to main story plays out. With criminals being used to combat a greater evil at the cost of their lives if needed. Though criminals in this sense are simply people that go against or don't fit in with the ideals of Eden. The corporation that controls most facets of life and the main antagonist of the series.
While the ride was fun, the pace of the plot both increases and stalls at the same time leading to an unsatisfying cliffhanger for the ending. This also leads to the characters feeling underdeveloped. Even after the majority of them being killed off in the first few episodes, the remaining few still seem a bit one dimensional.
On the technical side, I have only good things to say. The character designs are top notch and all the voice actors did a fantastic job. The music while a little sparse, pulls above it's own weight when used.
Overall, despite problems with the story and character development, I had an enjoyable time and hope they get another season to properly wrap things up.
