Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman. (2022)
Fun romantic adventure
I really loved this anime. Specifically the Jiro - Atari arc. The way she falls for him is really lovely and adorable.
I do have a complaint though and it's the rape like tendencies that Jiro exhibits when being teased by Atari. It's a little awkward, almost as if he's getting bullied and he wants to get back at her.
Also his self confidence gets annoying after a while. Jiro apologies in every instance given to him and eventually it gets too much. He also can't see a sign if it slaps him in the face. Throughout the series he questions the most obvious signs and hints. Comes off as oblivious.

Satisfying slow buildup
This anime was a great watch. The romance is innocent and subtle and slowly builds up to something you'll find yourself invested in. Both protagonists are strong characters with individually strong personalities and it's quite the journey seeing how both characters intertwine throughout the episodes. Not only that but the side characters also have equally strong parts to play as well.
The ending was very heartwarming and has me extremely excited for the recently announced season 2. There's a bunch of questions left unanswered so I'm excited to see the story continue.
If you're looking for a love story to indulge in, this is it.
Tenki no ko (2019)
Strong start, confusing end
This was a great anime with breathtaking visuals, my only real complaint is the end of the movie when Hodaka gets arrested and taken back to his hometown where he goes years (??) With 0 communication with Mitsuha because she apparently doesn't have a phone.
I found this really odd. If she doesn't have a phone perhaps write her a letter, postcard. Hell let her borrow Keisuke's phone. Something. The fact that he did absolutely nothing for years blows my mind.
This small blip really ruined an overwise perfect movie. And is the reason for an 8. However, it's a solid 8 and was still a great movie to watch.
Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta (2023)
Cute and Charming
This series was a rollercoaster of feels. The very first episode was very strange with the 360 camera angles and the extremely high detailed renders of the school hallway and lockers. It reminds me of back in high school when students found out about 3D text effects and the yearbook for that year was an ocean of 3D text effects. It was out of place and really didn't fit into the rest of the episodes.
Not only that but they reused a lot of footage. The scene of a student rushing down the hallway trying to get to class in the morning was used about a dozen times and I rolled my eyes each time it appeared.
As for the actual anime, it was very wholesome. You can see the romance blossoming throughout the series and the small intimate moments Mie and Komura share really make you all warm and fuzzy inside.
The series leaves a lot to question at the end and definitely sets the stage for a season 2. My only concern is for Komura to stray away from the "dad" figure Mie sees him as and actually confess his love for her.
We'll see in season 2!
Byôsoku 5 senchimêtoru (2007)
Disappointing
I think I went into this movie with too high of expectations. I watched it after watching Your Name which was a great movie.
It started super sweet but abruptly switched gears by showing Takaki with another girl, Kanae who was madly in love with him but it failed to take off because of his love for his original love, Akari. However, randomly Akari decides she's done waiting for him but still loves him? While he's left broken and alone. Roll the credits.
Just seems like an unfinished story that left me annoyed and unsatisfied.
It had potential with the opening scene but goes downhill shortly after.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Almost Perfect
A love story that will leave you wanting more!
My only complaint, and the downfall that prevented me from giving it a perfect 10 was the fact that Taki and Mitsuha didn't notice the year they were in at least once while they were swapped. Seemed unrealistic considering how much they were in their phones filling out diary entries. There's no way either wouldn't have noticed the year, and comes off as extremely oblivious. I didn't really question it as it was happening but it was an afterthought that really bothered me.
Other than that it's a great story that left me satisfied at the end. Definitely worth a watch.
