Bajo la metralla (1983)
Not your typical cartoonish Mexican acction flix
Bajo la metralla is actually one of those movies that keep you at the edge of your seat. It has it all! Maria Rojo is one of the best "unpolished" jewels to come out of Mexico. This movie was splendidly made without falling into the typical crappy caricature acction movie that Mexicans tend to do in movies like Siete en la mira, Lola la trailera or anything made by the Almada brothers.
Los caifanes (1967)
One of the best pieces of Mexican film ever!
This movie, for it's day and age was way ahead of its time. The movie catches a rare decadent lifestyle that hasn't been seen until recent movies. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone who's into Lynch, Kubrik or Tarantino. You will not be disappointed. Now, if I can just find a place where I can buy it, I'll be set!
