The Million Dollar Hotel (2000)
Not for me
While this movie had some humorous moments, for the most part I found it boring. Another problem I had with it was that there were times I couldn't hear or make out the dialogue. Either the actor was talking way to softly or they had their hand over their mouth muffling the sound. There were some interesting characters but the whole thing was just too slow and hard to understand. I stayed with it through the end just wanting to know what really happened to Israel but I would definitely not recommend it to anyone. I purchased this one as a previously viewed at the video store and had never heard of it before. So glad I only paid $1.50 for it! And now I am trying to get this thing to submit but it keeps telling me it isn't long enough -o.k.now it will go thru.
Waiting... (2005)
not worth the rental price
I work as a waitress and so was hoping for more of the interaction between the servers and customers.
That was the only part I liked and if there had been more of that I would have rated it higher. I found most of the other parts just stupid. The whole S/L line about their little "game" was disgusting and insulting to those of us who work in the industry. Sorry I wasted my money on this one. And now I have to figure out what else to type because this site requires 10 lines What else can I say about a movie I didn't like at all? I guess just to add a warning to those who are considering renting this piece of junk. There that did it.
Huckleberry Finn (1975)
They should have made this sooner!
This movie was a good one to share with kids- no fears of bad language- sex -etc as in todays movies. The one thing I truly wish is that they would have made this version 10 years sooner when Ron Howard and Donny Most were the right ages to play Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. Even with "babyish" faces they look at least 20 and not the 14 or 15 that they should have been. Ron was about the perfect guy to play the part when he was the right age. I am thinking about the time The Andy Griffith Show ended would have been the right time to do it. The fight scene with Pap made this even more clear. Granted a boy in that era might not have wanted to fight with his father but Ron was actually as big or bigger than his dad. Made the scene too unbelievable. And Donny was even bigger. I would have absolutely loved it had it been made with the same characters earlier. That said I give it an 8 - and earlier version would have gotten a 10.
Summer Magic (1963)
loved it!
I adored this movie- I bought it because when I was on vacation I had seen all but the last half hour of it on TV and wanted to see the end. I bought it and have watched it at least 5 times. My 5 year old granddaughter also loves it. You should hear her sing Ugly Bug Ball! The songs are wonderful catchy tunes- especially the one's Burl Ives from an innocent time. How I long for the days when movies were made like this. So much better than what is considered acceptable today. The dresses were just beautiful. There are some hilarious scenes- such as when Burl Ive's character is looking for a picture of Mr. Hamilton's "Mother". If you listen to the comments from his wife about the woman in the picture.
