I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006)
Might As Well Have Been Labeled A Remake
I didn't expect much anyway considering how many times can you basically make the same movie, but this might as well have just been a lower budget remake of the original but with poorer acting. It's not an awful movie, but it does leave a lot to be desired.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Weak Freddy
I was really excited to see this movie at midnight on opening night. The movie theater was completely packed and the thought of being able to watch this on the big screen was really exciting to my best friend and me. Unfortunately, by the end of the movie we did not feel the same excitement as we shared when the movie started. I thought the acting was decent, but what lacked was the fear that Freddy inflicted in us in the original classic. The Freddy in this remake appears deformed and less frightening as Robert Englund's character. He lacks the typical one-liners that Robert used as well...although he did have a few of them here and there. There were certain elements from the original that were used in this, but all in all I found it to be disappointing compared to the original. I also didn't like that they went beyond Freddy's child-murdering past and made him a child molester instead. That really was unnecessary as the child murderer character was much scarier. I also didn't really think it was necessary that they showed his past and how he led up to the monster that he became after he died...we all know him as a killer, there really isn't a psychological need to know why he's killing these teens. I kinda liked the ending scene, although it's still not as classic as the ending in the original. I'm sure with this ending, there'll be a sequel...hopefully it'll be much better than the mediocre Freddy's Revenge sequel...
Paranormal Activity (2007)
Waste of time
I just saw this movie in the movie theater after a few weeks of anticipation. After hearing this was such a great horror movie...and of course with all the hype about it...I was really wanting to see it. So my best friend and I went to see it. An hour and a half of my life that I will never get back later, I decided this movie was a huge waste of time. Actually, I decided that about 10 minutes into the movie but I just decided to hang on in case it got really good. There were a few climatic moments but really nothing that could hold a candle to a true horror (or even suspense) movie. Hell, even the mediocre Blair Witch Project was better than this piece of garbage. So if you're wanting to see it...unless you love home made camera movies mixed with bad acting, don't waste your time on this one...
My Date with Drew (2004)
Very Good Movie
After reading the pitiful comment left by I_John_Barrymore_I, I felt it necessary to comment on this title. I had been wanting to see this movie for a long time only because I love Drew Barrymore and I think she's an incredible actress...and the main character of this movie could be any one of us who just wants to have a chance to meet one of our heroes. In this case, he gets to meet (and have a date with) Drew Barrymore after many days of trying relentlessly to communicate with her...all while documenting this film on a camera he doesn't even own and with a budget of $1,100 that he won as a contestant on a game show. I think it stirs emotion within a lot of people because again, this could be any one of us. I, for instance, would love for an opportunity to sit and have dinner and a conversation with Stevie Nicks...not because I want to have a "date" with her, but just for a chance to meet a personal hero of mine. So I encourage anyone who hasn't seen this movie to check it out. Of course it's not a blockbuster movie...it's a documentary...but a very well-done documentary with a very cool ending.
Prom Night (2008)
People Are Retarded
I can't believe that this movie doesn't have a higher rating. Obviously those who voted either didn't watch it or were just plan stupid. This movie is one of the best newer horror movies I've seen in a long time. I'm so sick of the gore horror movies...we've been needing a really good horror flick that's more scary than gross and we finally have it. The acting in this movie was pretty good I thought, and the cast did a great job. The story line was good. It may not have been TOTALLY believable, but it was a lot more believable than Hatchet or some of those other retarded movies I've seen recently. I definitely think this movie deserves a watch because it really is an incredible movie. :)
I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
Very Well Done
I can't understand why the rating on this movie was so low. I thought it was very well done. This movie is filled with lots of suspense and the acting isn't too bad here. I've been seeing a lot of movies lately and most of them have been really bad so maybe those are making this one stand out, but either way I thought this was a very good movie and well worth the hour and a half to watch it. Those who rated it really low clearly weren't paying attention to the movie or probably hadn't even seen it in the first place. I've never been all that big on Lindsay Lohan, but I felt she did a very good job in this movie. Of course the title is kinda catchy too, so that gives it a whole new persona all its own.
Dressed to Kill (1980)
A Classic!!
I just saw this movie for the first time this evening and I have to say this was a totally incredible classic movie. I can't believe that I hadn't ever seen it before. Actually, the only reason I even wanted to see it was because it was referenced in an episode of my favorite TV show, The Golden Girls. In that episode, Dorothy says to Blanche "...this from a woman who tells her dates that she was Angie Dickinson's body double in 'Dressed To Kill." So I was kinda curious to see this movie after that, however I was never very active about getting a copy of it until I stumbled across it on Blockbuster.com and ordered it immediately. I must say, this movie has a ton of sex appeal, even tho the cast members aren't too terribly sexy here. If you haven't seen this movie, I HIGHLY recommend it as it is probably one of the most intensely created movies I've ever seen.
B.T.K. Killer (2005)
WOW What a crappy film!
OK so there's a reason why this movie has a 1.5 rating out of a possible 10. This is one of the WORST movies I've ever seen in my entire life. The acting was embarrassing, at best. The montage shots of the slaughterhouse were just too plentiful and I got really tired of hearing "Have you ever been to a slaughterhouse?" I had high hopes on this because I saw the Lionsgate logo on this DVD so I figured it'd have to have some kind of decent standards, but clearly it doesn't. I watched it mainly to learn a little bit about the BTK killer and I figured this would be an educational yet suspenseful film, but what we get is bad acting, low-budget and low-quality filming, and a storyline that is mediocre at best. I would HIGHLY recommend that you don't waste your time on this movie as I totally wasted 82 minutes of my life that I'll never get back, not to mention the wasted money spent charging it to my Blockbuster account.
Flinch (1994)
Awesome Movie
I have loved this movie for years. Tho I'd not seen it since about 1997, I finally just watched it again. And of course I still love it. Gina Gershon is such an awesome actress. I love her character in this movie. Judd Nelson is really good in this too.
The first half of this movie is my favorite part...not that I dislike the second half...I just think the parts where Judd and Gina play mannequins are really good. Just the chemistry between Gina and Judd is amazing. I couldn't have imagined any other actors to play those parts.
I highly recommend this movie. Too bad it wasn't a well-known movie cuz it really deserved some recognition.
Park (2006)
Not too bad of a movie...
I actually liked this movie for the most part. Some parts of it got on my nerves, like the obnoxious whiny character of April. I wanted her to just kill herself and get it over with. I didn't really have any likable characters in this movie, but I thought William Baldwin looked hot running around in his little see-thru undies...and the nudists guys in the van were kinda hot too. But all in all, this movie was pretty funny and entertaining. Cheri O'Teri and Ricki Lake played some quite interesting characters (though seeing Ricki as a lesbian was kinda funny for a change). I wanted to see the two guys kiss like Ricki and Cheri kissed...but of course that didn't happen. Oh well... *sigh* I definitely recommend this movie because it's very different than most movies. Tho I don't really think it has much of a plot, but oh well...
Gypsy 83 (2001)
Not A Bad Movie
I had been wanting to see this movie since I first heard it was being made. Being a huge Stevie Nicks fan, I figured there'd be something in this movie for me. I even remember when they were inviting extras to come to New York City to be in the club for filming (of course I couldn't go at the time). At any rate, this DVD is actually pretty good. I wasn't really sure how I'd like it. It does kinda remind me of my younger days of trying to find some kind of acceptance in a world full of morons. I'm from the West Virginia/Ohio area, so I could relate to the idiots that were in this movie who were so clueless that you just wanna smack the hell out of them. I was bummed that they couldn't get the rights to use Stevie's music for this movie...I think that would have made a slight difference. But with or without her music, I thought the movie was really good. I wasn't so crazy about Karen Black's character, but that's just my opinion. I think the two main characters tho, Gypsy and Clive, gave a really good performance in this. Good acting.
Get a Life (2006)
Waste Of Time
OK so at about 23 minutes and 30 seconds into this DVD, I decided that I had totally had enough. My boyfriend and I rented this DVD from Blockbusted cuz the cover was kinda cute in a goofy sorta way...so we decided to try it. WHAT A FREAKING WASTE OF TIME!!!...not to mention waste of a budget. Fortunately we got this as a free rental so at least we didn't waste any money on it. It's just a lame movie with really overly bad acting. I mean, bad acting is actually a compliment for this because the acting is so awful. And no one wants to watch trolls in sex clubs hitting on young boys. No one! So really...don't waste your time with this one. I gave it a 1 because I couldn't rate it any lower...
Halloween (2007)
Two Hours Of My Life...Gone...
I give this movie 3 stars only because it opened with a KISS song. I was so waiting for this movie to get released that I couldn't stand it. The original Halloween has been my favorite movie for many years. Of course whenever there's a remake, be it a song or a movie, we always compare it against the original. That may not necessarily be fair, but that's just how it is. When I finally got to see this movie, I was expecting a masterpiece. And as soon as the movie started, that's exactly what I thought it was. Only Rob Zombie would have the balls to begin his movie with a KISS song (I'm a huge KISS fan so this was like a sacred thing for me). And then, Michael Myers and his family are all of a sudden total white trash. No one wants their favorite serial killer to be white trash. And there were NO sexy people in this movie either. And I agree with the last comment...I wanted Laurie Strode to die in this version. She was such a BAD actress and she definitely doesn't do Jamie Lee Curtis justice. So after watching this wasted attempt at a movie, I feel that I've wasted two hours of my life that I'll never get back. We all have the original and that's all we need...don't waste your time with this crap.
Halloween Night (2006)
Don't Waste Your Time With This One
I thought this movie was a lame attempt at re-creating another Halloween movie...and after Rob Zombie screwed that up, we don't need another. I can't say that this movie was all THAT bad in its entirety, but it definitely doesn't stack up against any of the classic horror movies. The bloody affects weren't even realistic. And I could never understand why directors think that the key to a great horror/scary movie is to show as much blood and gore as possible. I love horror movies but I'm not into those that are so gory that they take all the focus away from the thrilling part of it. I gave this movie four stars because after it was all over, that's about what I felt it was worth. I wouldn't watch it again. Tho I must say the blonde who played Shannon is a pretty good actress...she was great in the Eating Out movies. She was about the only talented one in this movie...
FAQs (2005)
Not A Bad Movie...
While I liked the movie, I didn't really like the beginning. It has a documentary feel with facts about gays and the state of Texas...and then all of a sudden we're in L.A. So that was confusing. The eye-candy in this film is pretty good. Some of it is predictable and some is just really not believable as far as I'm concerned. I hated the ending tho. I thought the ending scene could have been written much better. I thought the main character, India, was really cute but Spencer really got on my nerves and I kinda wish he'd have been ditched at some point. And I usually can't stand drag queens, but Destiny was actually a pretty cool character. All in all tho I gave the movie a 7.
