Charmed (2018)
It isn't the original. And that's the whole point of a reboot!
To start, I was a HUGE fan of the original, and still am. The Halliwells were fierce and super-cool.
When I heard about the CW reboot, I was really excited, and I always go into remakes/reboots with an open mind. I never expect a carbon-copy of the originals, because they aren't meant to be!
I've seen every episode of the 2018 series. In a nutshell, it's about 3 sisters who's names start with the same letter. Their mother is dead and they realise they are the most powerful witches every born, known to supernaturals as the Charmed Ones. Together with their guide, known as a whitelighter, they vanquish demons and other creatures. Sound familiar?
This is a fresh and fun reboot, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It isn't the original and that's the point.
The reason for the 2 stars knocked off is because they really could take their foot off the political gas pedal. But other than that, you go, girls!
Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever (2009)
It really isn't too bad...!
I'm giving this a 7, because if you ignore the fact that it is meant to follow up Cabin Fever and just look at it as a stand-alone bio-shocker, it's a pretty entertaining film! Where else would you find a 'horror' flick with a getting-ready-montage (complete with gay school principal) set to a classic disco track?! OK, it was cheap, sticky-taped together then chucked lovelessly aside by the director, but it's a fun, and funny, camp, cheesy comedy-horror. It isn't intended to be the next blockbuster, never was, and most certainly never will be, but the acting was believable, the story was entertaining, the effects were fun, and the lead actor is very cute! If you are getting a few mates round for beer, take-out and a bit of a laugh, I recommend it. I will definitely watch it again! (don't berate me too much please, haters!)
The Dreaded (1990)
Perfectly awful!
I saw this film on the Horror Channel on SkyTV, and thought instantly that it was absolutely terrible. And one of the best I've seen for a while!
It doesn't take itself too seriously, and who would? The acting, script, camera-work and continuity are dire, but this film does not pertain to be the next horror masterpiece. I
I was so excited when my sister phoned me yesterday to say she'd find some DVD's and had no idea where they came from and read out the titles to me!!! I went straight over and grabbed this film first!
I am certainly going to watch it tonight with a can of beer and have a thoroughly good time.
