Lazy story
31 March 2024
I'm in a rewatch and season 9 is the worst season, while season 8 gets a bad rap too I actually really enjoyed it.

This particular episode was just lazy and poor storytelling. The disfigured man is revolting and you get the feeling they did that to spice things up but it's not done well.

Scully is center stage for once this season but it's a shame it's wasted on a crap story. Oh and yes, she's crying again, that's really getting old. I really need to speed up and close out season 9 so I can get to the reboot seasons with mulder and scully. The last episode jump the shark was really excellent, so there are some bright spots in season 9 but this episode can absolutely be skipped, 4/10.

Quantum Leap: This Took Too Long! (2023)
Season 2, Episode 1

Episode title is accurate alright
2 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First off, atrocious casting. None of the actors look military, much less act militarily.

Second flaw, too much missing information. Why 1978,, why over Russia, what is Ben saving?

This episode had so many flaws and actually played more like an episode of Macgyver; which they maybe realized in name mentioning it in the episode.

I enjoyed season 1, despite the in your face , overly diverse team. Great job of tying in the original classic show, fun episodes.

Season 2 episode 1 was a stinker, it happens. I'll stick around and see where this goes.

As a big fan of the original, an ideal season or series ending would of course to rescue Sam Beckett and bring in actor Scott Bakula, hell, make an entire season with his rescue.

Better ending than Succession, Succession better show
2 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Great ending with everything tied up. Very polarizing reviews on this page, I, for one, loved it. The previous season of Billions fell flat with no Ax. But season 7 reinvigorated the show, and that was even before Ax made his reappearance.

I can't help but compare this to Succession and in almost every facet, Succession was better; except for the finales.

What I really took away from this finale was the closure, and next steps of each character, big or small. And despite no surprises, I enjoyed this finale more than Succession, because much like Game of Thrones, Succession picked the wrong heir to the throne. Don't get me wrong, Succession and Game of Thrones were much better than Billions overall. But Billions has always been well written, with little innuendos only children of the 70s or 80s would get without looking them up.

Probably the last good show we may see on Showtime, the network doesn't feel like a pay cable channel anymore, and don't get me started on crappy Yellowjackets.

Good thing you know Latin!
23 October 2023
I'm writing this with 30 minutes left. The main actor knows Latin and it's a good thing she does because what else would they do to look up what phrases mean? Oh yeah, they could google it.

This movie is neither scary or entertaining but I took the time to watch it and I appreciate you taking the time to read my review.

Jeremy Piven and Sean Aston are in this, and they probably didn't realize what they were signing up for. The script is kind of a mess, I guess there are fire riots going on and the police are nowhere to be found, leaving a paramedic to crack the case.

I was going to watch a Jennifer Lawrence movie on Netflix and ended up watching this instead and I profoundly regret it, guess I'll start cleaning while this move finishes.

Full series review -all over the place

A stellar cast can't save this from being a convoluted mess. Acting is great, but the plot is is predictable with the issue being the plot points were solved much earlier than the conclusion. This could have been a whole lot less confusing if they avoided Guyana, would've worked a lot better if was Jamaican.

Not worth 6 episodes and mercifully it's only 6 episodes. I said this in episode 3 review but it bears reminder, I think zazie beats would've been better in Claire Daines mom role and Daines would've been better as the postal inspector. Talking about convoluted, why write in postal inspectors? Just makes it more confusing, why not make them basic nypd detectives.

Side note: am I the only one confusing Timothy Olyphant with Josh Duhammel?

You have my attention
10 August 2023
A few musings having watched the first 3 episodes... The show is interesting but I feel like they really let the cat out of the bag in relation to who the "kidnapped" child is Claire Daines, as usual, is incredible. But I can't help but wonder if she wouldn't have been better cast in Zazee Beets role and Zazee to play Daines. Just a thought.

Sometimes movies are better off as more drawn out shows and sometimes shows would be better movies. This might be a better 2 hour movie.

3 episodes in, I will stick around to see how it finishes out and I won't try to make unfair comparisons to much better shows this cast has been in prior.

It Doesn't Get Better, But I Don't Hate It
21 June 2023
I'm a sucker for a good Who done it mystery, and while this show isnt a who done it, I stuck around and it wasn't half bad. I probably wouldn't watch a second season since I kind of know what I'm getting.

Writing was predictable and they went to the "they're only dreaming" well about 7 too many times. It was actually laughable because you knew it was a dream immediately and it was very poorly done, completely avoidable. And to do it as much as they did, shows lazy storytelling, please just stop

You don't find yourself rooting for any characters, they're all pretty deplorable but not in a fun way like say It's Always Sunny.

Anyway, check it out if you like mysteries, though there isn't much to solve. The show doesn't take itself too seriously and you shouldn't either.

The Diplomat: The James Bond Clause (2023)
Season 1, Episode 8

Bring on Season 2!
20 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love when a show ties it all together and completes the arc of the season in the last couple episodes, and The Diplomat did NOT do that...and I still loved it.

Spoilers here so stop reading if you must, You kind of had the feeling the Prime Minister may have had a hand in this as early as the old lady was explaining how he isn't trying to let the United Kingdom get split up on his watch. That aside they waited literally until the last 30 seconds to conclude that, and of course we have the cliffhanger of if Keri Russell's husband and her aide are impacted by the car bomb.

Overall great season even if the finale wasn't the strongest of all the episodes. This is a highly recommended show and I will be back for season 2!

The Diplomat: Some Lusty Tornado (2023)

Particularly strong performance by Rory Kinnear
19 June 2023
Show continues to impress. The writing is so intricately tied to todays real life conflict in Ukraine, it provides genuine thoughtful perspective of how things may play out.

Like in Penny Dreadful, the more screen time you give Rory Kinnear, the better your show will be. He plays the prime minister so well, you can't help but think the guy would actually make a great politician.

Love where the show is headed and I think it was wise to keep the characters to a small group. The show doesn't have any space for annoying unnecessary characters and there are none. After 6 episodes, perhaps it's time to reveal the real villain for viewers to root against instead of a shadowy country, to make it more personal.

It's been one of those days, I'm off for the federal holiday of Juneteenth; a holiday that needs more recognition. But yeah, I've just watched 6 episodes of The Diplomat and I'm all in.

Episode 4, strongest yet
19 June 2023
Well, we're now 4 episodes in for today and the Diplomat is picking up steam! You have to suspend belief that an ambassador holds this much sway, and once resigned to that, you will enjoy the show much more. I look at Keri Russell's character more like a Claire Daines in Homeland type.

The endings of these episodes are excellent and have you ready to jump into the next one.

Small critique, for a couple on the cusp of a divorce, Keri Russell and Sewell sure seem to get along.

Highlight of episode 4 is finding out who did the ship bombing , no spoilers of course, but the mystery is far from over, stay tuned!

First 2 episodes end with you saying wow
19 June 2023
I'm late to this party but this show is really good 2 episodes in. The writing is smart, the cast is outstanding, and it's just really well done.

Comparing this to other similar recently released political type shows , The Diplomat stands out. I was so disappointed in Kiefer Sutherland's Rabbit Hole, The Diplomat is everything that show aimed to be.

You get Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell shining and it's a great who done it premise while also a Birds Eye view of how jumbled politics can be. I'll be looking forward to watching these, onto episode 3, how many will I watch in one day? Stay tuned!

It's a little hard to follow
29 May 2023
The viewer is expected to understand what's going on and I'll just say it, I don't know what's going on in the finale. What is Tom trying to pull off?

There is a ton of dialogue in this episode, and at over 90 minutes, you'll find it hard to keep up. Most don't come here to read reviews BEFORE watching, so if you watched, do you mind writing a plot summary for me?

All that said, great show, last couple episodes were good not great, I think the peak of the show was season 4 , episode 8 , America Watches. That was as good of television I've ever seen, like Breaking Bad or The Wire good. I don't have anything bad to say about this show, definitely would recommend to anyone, glad it didn't go more than 4 seasons, it said all it needed to and didn't linger.

4 episode review
22 May 2023
Overall a good watch, particularly for fans of mma and the Irish. I gave it a 6/10, it's very introspective and really provides complete insider access to his day to day over the last 4 years or so.

My biggest knock and the reason it wasn't rated higher is it's too centric to the last 4 years. It could've been more of his youth and journey to the top and still be 4 episodes. Perhaps a quick walk through of each UFC match, and the screen shows his record getting better and better.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do another 3 or 4 episodes follow up in a couple years and I'd be game to watch it.

At this point wouldn't you just start walking south?
13 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The show is starting to unravel, not much left to do besides get found now that they got the cannibalism out of the way.

It's just not realistic to think an entire soccer team would go undiscovered all this time. I mean, if where they are at is so in the wilderness, why is there a large house there?

They need to start walking south until they get to civilization, instead of sitting around like lame, hungry ducks.

I will say this on season 2, the adults side of the show is much better. Whereas season 1 the kids were more entertaining, that has dramatically shifted to the adults being a better watch and the kid segments are kind of boring.

Appalling

What makes most movies good is a sure fire protagonist, a knight in shining armor. Sadly, this does not have one, all the main characters are reprehensible and represent the worst society has to offer. Sometimes they compare things to a train wreck you can't look away from, well, I could certainly look away. Started cleaning the house with about 35 minutes left, left it on but only because my ocd requires me to finish.

Deciding to make movie about the blurred lines of reality tv could have been better done than the shock and awe attempt here. I watched this as HBO kind of snuck a 6 year old movie in as newly arrived, most times they slip these sort of movies in, they're not good and this fits the bill, 3 out of 10.

Mythic Quest: Buffalo Chicken Pizza (2023)

Season 3 Review
5 May 2023
This season isn't as good as season 2; which isn't as good as season 1. Where some of the best shows start to hit their stride; Mythic Quest is regressing. They asked smaller role characters to step up more in season 3 and I think the result for me, anyway, was liking those role characters a little less when shown more.

Mythic Quest is not as good as Silicon Valley, very similar formats but the supporting cast is what sets Silcon Valley apart. You have the 2 main alphas in Ian and Poppy and everyone else. Maybe you're not going to make stars of anyone else, that's fine.

As you embark on Season 4, it would be wise to introduce a villain not from within and I don't think that's Bobby's evil brother. Branch out! Bring in s big gun, a good show needs a villain, this show has spent far too long in-fighting without an arch nemesis through three seasons.

Full season review
5 May 2023
Very bingable, I like how they tell a history behind each auction item. If you like Pawn Stars, this is very similar. The cast/employees are all likeable and seem to each bring something to the table. I don't like how they craft a story and spend an entire episode on it only to make you watch the next one for the end result, that's avoidable and makes each episode in itself a little incomplete. Would love to bring this back for a second season and making these on the fly while auctions are still running could vastly improve the show. Overall, very good show, and fans of sports, collectibles and negotiations will really enjoy!

Season 1 Episode 7
4 May 2023
This show is very complicated. 7 out of 8 episodes in and it's hard to explain in a sentence exactly what it's about. You should be able to sum it up in a sentence, and I guess if I was trying to do that it would be: Kiefer Sutherland is on the run as he tries to understand just who exactly it is that's trying to frame him. Another knock, it's pretty unrealistic, the most wanted man in America is walking into high rises and such. Charles Dance is great, about the only bright spot but the writing is all over the place. I'll stick around for season finale episode 8 , but I don't know that Paramount+ will stick around for season 2.
