The Allnighter (2023)
This flick's a wild mix.
Them main peeps? They're mysterious but hella gripping - this flick's a wild mix. , if you're into flicks that keep you on your toes, leaving you pleasantly confused with some quirky characters and a storyline that's all over the place, then this joint's your vibe. Can't put it in a box, just like those indie gems that keep you hooked 'cause they ain't following no rules. The ending? Pure magic, man. It hits that sweet note that keeps the story buzzin' long after it's done. This ain't your run-of-the-mill flick, nah-it's a ride that stays kickin' in your mind. I leave it two thumbs up! The Extraordinary Ordinary (2019)
This ain't your typical coming-of-age deal.
Yo, peep The Extraordinary Ordinary-it's got a crew of messed-up folks dealin' with some heavy baggage from the past. Mental health battles? Yeah, it puts that front and center, but in a smooth, relatable vibe. These characters? They're like your homies next door-real and relatable. The flick's got this elegant touch while talkin' 'bout the struggles folks face daily. I vibed hard with their message, ya know? It's that down-to-earth feel that hooks you. This ain't your typical coming-of-age deal, nah. It's got that today's-world flavor, which is a breath of fresh air 'cause times ain't the same as before. If you're after a real-deal coming-of-age drama fit for the now, give this joint a spin.
Pocket Full of Game 2 (2021)
Feel like you're livin' the streets.
Yo, stumbled upon this flick and dang, it's got that raw, street vibe that grabs ya by the throat. This indie joint? It's straight-up real life, man. Feel like you're livin' the streets. Let me tell you 'bout Meeko-dude's fire! Like, he's the whole package, you dig? Got mad love for that cat. I might just hit play again just to catch Meeko in action. Yo, I'm hyped for Pocket Full of Game 3, bout to watch it now. Check this: Porsha Garcia bounces from NYC's East Harlem fifteen years back after her love Fresh kicks it. She takes off to Puerto Rico with their unborn kid, tryna shake them inner demons. But guess what? Past's on her tail, man. Fate plays dirty, 'cause Porsha finds out her daughter Garibelle's cut from the same cloth.
Toxic Impulses (2022)
Toxic Impulses
Toxic Impulses is a story about choices and consequences with crime, deceit, murder, secret addictions, and dark quests for redemption all mixed into one bag and man, is it a full bag! There are a lot of different things going on in this story and if you blink you will miss it. It is well paced and keeps the viewer hooked right from the start. The voice overs were a nice touch as they helped to push the narrative without dumbing everything down. I just hate it when a movie goes to great lengths to explain something because they are afraid the audience won't get it. If you are looking for something to watch that is full of dark and dangerous thriller on the contemporary side then Toxic Impulses is right up your alley. I give it two thumbs up.
As the Village Sleeps (2021)
What a trippy little ride this is!
What a trippy little ride this is! As The Village Sleeps is not your regular cabin in the woods horror film. Yes it is set in a cabin in the woods with beautiful young people that come together for a party but it's not full of a lot of blood and guts. Actually there is very little blood and no guts that I can remember. It is suspenseful and full of mystery and probably more of a mystery thriller in my opinion than a horror flick but still I found it interesting and I watched it through til the end. Maybe it doesn't quite deserve 8 stars but honestly it's not a bad flick to pass the time on a rainy day.
Jovi & Lou (2023)
Cute & Edgy!
What a refreshing indie comedy! It's cute and edgy. The idea of God as a woman is not new but a gay black Jesus is not something I have seen before and the actor who plays the character pulls it off wonderfully. I watch a lot of indie movies and I gotta say this one has a lot going for it. The story is original and though provoking yet funny as hell. Several times I was laughing out loud. All the acting is believable, something that is often lacking in indie movies. Overall the production is of high quality. It's not one of those one room movies that seem to be so popular these days. It looks like they went to great lengths to find interesting locations and sceneries. I give it two thumbs up.
