The Shift (2023)
The Shift is Suspenseful, Profound, and a little Spooky.
This film had a really good message about enduring faith and I loved the elements of alternate realities as well. With the really dark lighting and the terrifying effects, this has proved to be very spooky for an Angel Studios film and I loved that. I enjoyed the main protagonist's journey throughout the film and how it related to the Book of Job. Neal McDonough once again makes a menacing villain but this time, his antagonistic approach is more terrifying. Kristoffer Polaha and Elizabeth Tabish performed perfectly not just as their characters but also their alternate versions, which showcases their talent well. I have nothing bad to say about this movie other than that I wish it came out closer to Thanksgiving because the weather and message also felt like a Thanksgiving movie. This is worth the watch and it will give you chills!
Moon Knight (2022)
Moon Knight is a wild ride!
This actually turned out to be more entertaining than I what I thought it would be. I especially liked the pacing of the series and the representation of the psychological elements of it because it was goofy and funny, but also spooky and disturbing at the same time. Oscar Issac's acting to play a character with DID in this is so underrated that it left me very impressed. May Calamwy did an amazing job as Layla as well as Ethan Hawke as the manipulative Arthur Harrow. The only thing I truly didn't like about this show was the CGI and I didn't like the way Khonshu was portrayed. I also feel like there could've been a little bit more action in the finale but this finale was better than the finales of Hawkeye and Wandavision for sure. Overall, this is probably my favorite and most entertaining Marvel series.
Journey to Bethlehem (2023)
The Most Underrated Christmas Special of the Year!
Adam Anders did a spectacular job with his first film. This movie was an amazing success and quite an amazing musical for the Christmas season. There were a couple of bits of the beginning that were confusing, but overall, it was quite spectacular. The cast performed powerfully and comedic at the same time, especially Milo Manheim and Fiona Palomo. Antonio Banderas was an amazing, creepy, terrifying antagonist that will give you chills. The music was unique, well-written, and beautifully composed. It was a good twist of modern music for something that was set in ancient Israel. The humor was also really great and was perfectly timed. Overall, this was the best musical I've seen since The Greatest Showman and I would recommend people to watch this with their family in December for sure.
After Death (2023)
The Greatest Documentary ever made!
I've never watched a lot of documentary movies but this one by Angel Studios is definitely one that makes you think about how to be prepared for eternity. The stories told by the people were very compelling and heart-touching that made me cry for almost the whole time. The imagery and background were also very well done and perfectly executed. They had a good balance between the exciting, joyful moments and the scary, terrifying moments. It makes sense why this came out close to Halloween because they did a really good job with the scary imagery. Overall, this was an amazing film that everyone should watch to know about the questions of death and eternity. I would recommend this film to anyone.
