Grimm: The Law of Sacrifice (2014)
This Is My Stopping Point
This episode is where I just can't watch this anymore. I lost respect for every single one of the characters, and can't stand any of them has people. Especially Juliette. Seriously, she's the worst character in a TV show ever. Truble's worse, and her storyline starts in the next episode, so I am DONE. These kind of subplots where there's a massive 'bady' organization who's a threat to everything is what ruined BtVS and why shows like Grimm don't stand the test of time. It becomes more and more about the organizations, and less about the characters and you know, the cases, which were why we watched the show in the first place.
Marple: Why Didn't They Ask Evans? (2009)
One of the worst adaptations of a book EVER.
Dear Lord, what an awful load of trash. Completely abandons the original plot, you could never figure out what was going on. There were far too many characters, especially original characters. I could never figure out what was going on with the girl 'investigator', why she seemed to think she knew everything constantly. Perhaps something was lost in the adaptation with her character, which with this production, probably wasn't hard to do, since everything else was messed up.
And what in the name of GOD was going on with the end?! What was the point of murdering (YES MURDERING) The poor children that were abandoned in China? Especially Moira aka Alice, that one was BLATANT murder. There was no need to inject HER with the poison! At least the Uncle and Mother did/would have deserved what they got! They created the monsters that came into their home.
I have never been so disappointed in a Miss Marple before. I am really disliking this series. I miss the old ones. I adore Miss Marple programs, but this one just left me feeling frustrated, and as if I'd just lost a portion of my life I can never get back, for absolute trash.
Paranormal State (2007)
A Poorly Made Attempt at Ghost Hunting
This show, Paranormal State, has an almost "Blairwitch Project" feel to it. As in, you're watching a 'documentary' that's actually just a scripted movie, made to look and feel like a documentary.
My biggest problem with the show, is their 'go to' outside advisers of the Warren's, who were made famous for their 'investigations' of the Amityville murders, which were shown to be completely fraudulent, just based upon the police reports of the family's deaths! (such as the eldest daughter actually having been involved in the entire thing, to the point of possibly even helping with some of the deaths!) Then there's the way they constantly jump to blaming demons for everything. Not to mention how haughty the group is about what cases they take. They don't want to help those who need it most, they just want the weirdest cases, that will get them the most press and attention.
They're complete frauds, plain and simple.
Underfunded (2006)
Dear Lord, THERE'S 90 minutes of my life I won't get back!
AND I WANT THEM BACK!!!!!! I've never been more bored by a supposed comedy in my life! I know they're trying to be quirky and funny, but the jokes are obvious and it goes beyond the realm of passable believability.
I mean, what kind of SECRET AGENCY would EVER write a check to their Internet company FROM THE ROYAL Canadian GOVERNMENT?! The jokes are just stupid. while I get they're supposed to be underfunded, this is just ridiculous.
OK, if his father was CIA and such a legend, why the hell is he working in Canada. Who cares if he moved there when he was six?! If he wanted to be a REAL agent, why didn't he join an American agent.
Dude, was that a picture of JAMES BOND on the target the bodyguard (Alex) was shooting at??? OK, watching the whole American spy scene, but OK American's AREN'T that well funded. And they definitely don't have the budget for over 50 agents and 4 Apache helicopters.
On top of which. I'm only 30 minutes into this, and it's soooooooo freaking obvious the wife did it. Hell, I called it the moment we first saw her.
10 MINUTES LATER: OK, the more I see of this, the worse it gets.
And I still can't figure out if the assistant has a crush on him, or just wants something.
DEAR GOD, why was he still listening to his boss when he figured out his boss's issue was financial.
The Viagra joke wasn't funny, and they don't stop people for taking prescription drugs across the border. The hard evidence joke WOULD have been funny, if he had made it as a pun. But it was dumb the way they did it.
Why the heck WOULD anyone work at such an underfunded place. It's obvious that nothing ever gets done there. If he was sooo serious about helping people, being a secret agent, there's no way he would have remained at the agency. ESPECIALLY not for so long.
OK, WHY is this supposedly smart agent, telling a widow who obviously profited from her husband's death, EVERYTHING he suspects. Who cares if she's more connected than he is? He didn't have to tell her EVERYTHING. Ugh.
Um, why would the American Agent, who's obviously so young, be in a position of such power and have direct access to the President.
This movie is like this is Space Balls or Airplane. At least they were TRYING To make fun of those types of movies. This is supposed to be a SERIES?! PSYCH on the other hand, is funny, intelligent, and the jokes are so obvious that it's like they were trying to entertain children. Plus, it's actually good.
I wouldn't be sad if this doesn't get picked up for a series.
Garden State (2004)
An amazing film for the Affectless generation.
This is a movie that perfectly reflects the generation born in the 80's. A generation of 20-somethings brought up in an emerging technically savy world, where it was just becoming popular to drug your children for being 'different' or hyper. A generation that was drugged to the gills, whether it be with prescription medications or freely chosen street drugs.
The numbness and tranquility of the first part of the movie perfectly reflects what life is like for those on a multitude of prescriptions, having completely forgotten what it's like to experience life un-modulated.
As the movie goes on, life seems to gain more color, and stop moving so slowly for Andrew, as he wakes up from his drug induced haze and starts experiencing life. Life as it really is, raw, and at times painful, but also full of joy and love that one is unable to experience when one's emotions are so tightly controlled by medication.
It's truly THE movie that speaks to this generation, and will always remind us of how it was.
I just can't understand how anyone can say it was a bad movie. The only explanation I can come up with is they didn't have the intelligence to understand the film.
Buried Secrets (1996)
I loved this movie
I loved this movie from the very first time I watched it. I have watched it over an over again, since then, and loved it more and more as time has passed.
It's a storyline that tugs at your heart, because it's a ghost story that plays not 100 years after the ghost's death, but less than a decade, so all the people affected by the tragedy are still alive. That just makes the desire for the truth to come out even more poignant. You just have to feel so horrible for her poor father, who was unknowingly married to his wife's killer for all that time. To know that the woman responsible for your child's death, is the mother of the only child you have left.
Then there's Johnny . . . wow. Probably the real reason I watched the movie so many times. Very sexy. And he did the tough, but grieving ex-boyfriend thing so well.
Best of all, the bad guy, or gal as it would be in this movie, gets it in the end! And the formerly possessed, spirit seeing girl, gets the hot mechanic.
Sure, it's not a blockbuster quality film, but it doesn't change the fact that it was a very cool movie, which I will blissfully enjoy for years to come.
Roseanne: Don't Make Me Over (1992)
A fantastic episode
This episode has always been one of my absolute favorites. What I love most about it, is for once you get to see an emotionally vulnerable Roseanne after she's hurt by her daughters' cruel actions. The callousness of Becky and Darlene was shocking the first time I watched it, and it's never failed to get a reaction out of me each time I see it again. It's an episode that actually teaches a lesson. That parents are people with feelings too.
I've been an avid watcher of the shows since I was allowed to stay up late enough to catch it when they were still putting out new episodes.
This is a wonderful episode everyone can enjoy. It's yet another example of why "Roseanne" was such a popular show and still continues to be in syndication. Everyone should get the chance to experience this show.
