Dirty Jobs (2005– )
An extremely interesting and hilarious show...
30 August 2005
The Discovery Channel started to take a turn for the better when they added "Mythbusters" to their TV schedule. It seems, however, that they aren't done there. With "Dirty Jobs" they have another winner on their hands. Host Mike Rowe has excellent comedic timing and brings such a great atmosphere to each dirty job he encounters.

On the negative side (and it's not really "negative") some of the jobs Mike attends aren't that dirty. They should've named the show, "Jobs The Majority of Us Don't Want to Do" but since most of the jobs are really dirty, "Dirty Jobs" fits the bill quite nicely.

My only really worry is that he'll run of out of jobs to attend. It's really neat to see the people behind these careers and how every little thing works. The chick hatchery was especially interesting and equally funny.

I really hope this show stays on for a good while and can get a following like "Mythbusters". I'll end this review with a comment from another IMDb user who had to defend the host, Mike Rowe, because some others unjustly labeled Mike as "annoying" because Mike brings humor to these jobs instead of blinding acceptance and joy for the work:

User: mrp- Comment: "if he liked the jobs it wouldn't be funny

hes supposed to represent the average person who's watching the show, someone who works at walmart or behind a desk, not walking with (stuff) up to their knees down in the sewer

he makes it funny, hes not an employee hes a TV show host and the workers who teach him the jobs know this and I'm sure they don't get annoyed with him because of this

i wouldn't watch this show if he enjoyed all the dirty jobs "

Jonny Zero (2005)
Perfect example of a show that can be fixed with time...
14 January 2005
Jonny Zero is a show involving a man who is released from prison and is trying to change his life for the better while dealing with the demons from his criminal past.

Many things about this show are very cliché such as the bumbling "mafia" men and the comic-relief sidekick. The director(s) are also to blame for the quick camera work (that only fits some scenes, not all) and musical choices. This show had some of the worst music I've ever heard in a show or movie. However, at one point Jonny sees his mother again and in the background you hear some nice, Latin salsa music. That was the only example of music that actually fit the scene. Other times it was weird techno or music from a band you probably don't care about. Another problem I had was the offbeat humor. I'm a fan of humor, but the kind in this show was asinine and again, didn't fit the scenes they were in. At times, there were some funny parts but out of maybe 13 or 14 attempts at humor in the show, only 2 or 3 of them worked.

The best thing about the show, so far, is the action. I was surprised at the level of violence shown and how real it looked. In once scene, "Jonny Zero" showed more blood than ANY "Twenty-Four" episode. The gunfights were well done from a TV show standpoint and Franky G fits his role perfectly. Sometimes, Franky does come off as a little stiff but that's probably due to his inexperience in a lead role. Something that will certainly get better.

Overall, the first episode is an example of good things a show can produce and bad things it can produce. Luckily, all these negative things can be fixed within a few episodes until the show levels out and produces its own identity (its set in New York, like millions of other shows). Better humor (or ditch it altogether), sensible music, and a steadier camera work should even things out nicely for a show which will surely become more entertaining as it progresses.

No words....
12 February 2004
I'm sitting here having trouble coming up with the words for this film. From start to ending you're thrust into such a great story (beautifully shot and directed as well) that keeps getting better and really has no slow spots. Another thing I loved is that the subtitling was masterfully done in the aspect that it fits perfectly in the scenes so its nearly impossible to miss action due to reading the titles. The characters are excellently portrayed and you'll just love Rocket, the main character who narrates the whole movie. I just can't describe in words how this movie makes me feel and how just so incredible it is. Everyone needs to see this now for it cannot be missed. Its got drama, comedy, violence, action, everything. So let the screen saver on your comp kick on and head to your local theater and see it NOW.

One of the funniest MST3K episodes ever.
24 January 2004
Warning: Spoilers
I caught this one while it was already well into the story but in classic MST3K fashion it didn't take long for me to stay tuned. Immediatly the comedy rolls in as they start heckling the movie. But there is this one part *SPOILER* that made my soul explode from laughter. See, this big 'ol hairy guy captured the baby Boggy Creek Beast and had it in his house. Well the university people and Crenshaw are in the house getting ready to defend because Momma Beast is outside and she was rather perturbed. So they back up, and BAM she busts threw the door and Mike goes, "SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM OOOOHH YEAH!!!" I didn't get to see the rest of the movie because I blacked out. Even the 30, 40 minutes I saw of this MST3K more than showed that this one is up there with the funniest MST3K episodes ever. I will certainly catch this one the next time it airs so please, do yourself a favor and if this one is released on DVD or it comes back on Sci Fi, WATCH IT, RECORD IT, OOHHHH YEEAAAHHH!!!

Bike fighting.... BIKE FIGHTING
19 January 2004
I never miss the chance to see movies for free and having friends that work in the theatre, I see a ton of movies (but pay for the ones I enjoyed). The other night I got to see Torque. I didn't expect much with this movie and couldn't wait at the chance to heckle it. But when it started, it was as if a blast wave of crap hit my face while my mouth was open. I was blinded, and had a bad taste in my mouth. Now I don't enjoy a lot of movies out there (because I want to be a filmmaker and know I can do better) but sometimes that one movie comes along and makes you wonder, "people REALLY enjoy this?" Whats next from the producers of this film, "2 Torque'd"? This movie is a definate case of STYLE over substance. I can deal with crappy movies made from novels, video games and other media but I can't deal with crappy movies that are defecated out of the blue. This movie made my mind sad and now I need to go watch some BOONDOCK SAINTS to feel better.

What has happened to American Cinema?
3 August 2002
The only way this movie could be more predictable is if you've seen it before. Unoriginal and dumb. Britney fans will revel in its simplistic happy time views. Oh, she also sings!! If you didn't see that one coming then this movie is made for you.

Worst movie in history....
25 June 2002
This is the worst movie ever made. The fighting (if you can call it fighting) scenes are worse than the 3 Ninjas movies. Fart noises and stupid faces make up this movie. This is stupid even for a kid flick. Stay very far away from this movie.

Simply Outstanding
6 March 2002
Most people see this movie as a low budget carp movie. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Yes, the special effects werern't great but they were some of the best seen. Most of the 1.2 million-dollar budget was spent on renting out the mall. But, the story, and its sociological effects and meaning ar awesome. Plus, the way it affects society as a whole is really interesting and adds to th horror of the great movie. Watch it, buy it, love it.
