Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
Even trying not to compare to the animated series, it's still just a bland, lifeless, and clunky tv-show
Even trying to look at this as it's own thing and not compare it to the original animated series, it's still a bland and clunky tv-show, with terrible pacing, dialogue, acting, and overall writing. All of the characters feel flat with little to no agency, the bending and fight scenes feel limited and have no real kick to them. Every single episode someone will just start doing some of the most egregious exposition dumping out of nowhere, the writers for this must have never heard of the show don't tell rule somehow. The pacing is awful, one second the characters are like "We must get to the northern water tribe, we have no time to waste, we're all business not play now" and then the next Aang's like "oh no look down there, some random burnt patch in the woods, better drop everything we're doing and go check out the burnt trees for some reason". When comparing it to the actual show it's even worse, ever single time something is changed or altered from the source material it's always for the worse, there isn't a single instances where something was done as an improvement, some of the changes don't even make sense half the time. None of the characters other than maybe Aang and Jet feel like the characters their supposed to be playing, half the time they feel like their doing a bad impersonation or parodying the character. And the other half of the time their just straight up not even trying to play the characters, saying and doing things the characters would never do. All in all, I didn't expect much from this show but still, this hurt to watch. I'll give it a full 1 star and not lower just because it is technically a marginable improvement over the movie version.
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Chapters: Special 2 (2023)
The Ending to One of the Greatest Animes & TV-Shows Of All Time
Attack on titan is one the only long running anime I've had the pleasure of watching over the years as each ep aired. Every time a new season started dropping eps, I was there to watch every one of them as they each came out. Currently I'm a writer and artist, and am working to create my Manga's, and I can say with a high amount of certainty that without Aot, I'd never been where I am in my creative endeavors, it's offered endless amounts of both motivational and inspiration, and after watching this final ep, it once again lit that same fire in me again. Thank you to Hajime Isayama for creating such an incredible thrilling piece of fiction, and thank you to both wit studio and mappa for bring that manga into the masterful visual anime it is now that I've had the pleasure of being able to watch and enjoy throughout all these years, you have my upmost respect and gratitude. Aot will most likely forever remain, no matter what I may watch or read in the future, at the top of my list of favorite animes and shows in general.
Ahsoka (2023)
I'm at a loss for words after watching episode 4...
After so many let downs, Kenobi, BoBF, MandoSe3, the entire sequel trilogy... I was pretty much never thought I'd get to feel that star wars magic again. And episode 1-3 seemed like that would be the case, they were solid, but nothing amazing, and I was still thinking that it probably go down hill pretty soon and drop in quality just like all the others had before, none of them seeming to know how to write well written star wars. But man Dave Filoni took his time cooking AND DELIVERED! Episode 4 without a shadow of a doubt is the best live action star wars we've gotten since the prequals, the pacing was fast but still knew the perfect moments to slow down and pause, the fight choreography felt like something strange out of old samurai film, having those similar moves, beats, and dueling feel. The music was absolutely fantastic all throughout the ep. The tension was maintained and never lost, Baylen is a great and imposing villain, this ep alone easily made him one of my new fav sw villains in the entire franchise, the part where he speaks to Sabbie and literal does the signature darkside seduce techinuq to convince her to willing go with him was so cool to see and was genaually not expecting Sabbine to actually give in as well. To top is all of and add a cheer to the the top, we got the one and only Haden back playing Anakin (he called Ashoka snips bro, had me tearing up), and your not gonna believe this, but it seems Lucasfilm actually learned from there mistake in Kenobi and used CGI de-aging for him and actually looks good! Like he popped right out of ROTS. Oh and Shin is a badie, and >>>> Rey.
Bakugan Battle Brawlers (2007)
This show was a key part of my childhood
Haven't watched this show since I was a kid, but I can still clearly remember many of the main big moments in the show and the main characters of it. And man was it good, such a blast to watch, an easy 10/10 everything you could want in a kids anime show it has. AND THE OPENING, BRO DOES IT STEAL GO HARD ASF! WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO! THE ODS ARE STACKED AGAINST YOU! YOUR BACKS AGAINST THE WALL GOTTA GIVE YOUR UH UH UH UALL! Damn it's such a bop, and the designs for the Bakugon were so good, peak monster designs, transformations, weapons, gear, and all. Obviously a part of why I give it such a high rating is due to some amount of nostalgia, but I'm fairly confident just going off of what I remember from back in the day, that it defiantly still holds up as a solid show.
