Maxine's Baby: Tyler Perry's Story Gets the CliffsNotes Treatment
19 November 2023
The anticipation for Amazon's 'Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story' led me to expect a detailed exploration of Tyler Perry's upbringing, family dynamics, and his journey in Hollywood.

However, the documentary falls short of expectations, offering only a few scenes where Perry discusses his early days in theatre and television production.

The narrative lacks vulnerability, with Perry speaking sparingly about his abusive childhood.

The film raises the intriguing question of how Perry's life would unfold without the pain that shaped him, yet it provides scant information on this crucial aspect.

Many stories are introduced but left unexplored, creating more questions than answers. The documentary feels controlled, with a sense that certain narratives are carefully curated.

Despite occasional church services and choirs, there's a lack of substantial content that viewers would eagerly want to know.

Perry's criticism of the traditional Hollywood system's wastefulness lacks conviction, and the documentary leaves unanswered questions about his creative process.

The excessive focus on race, coupled with repetitive language, detracts from the overall impact.

The documentary's repetitive nature, constant praise, and lack of in-depth exploration make it fall short of delivering the comprehensive and detailed account expected from such a prominent filmmaker's story.

Let me explain,

Tyler being a major filmmaker, I expected a better documentary.

The documentary predominantly showcases scenes of Perry opening studios, attending premieres, and making appearances on talk shows with figures like Oprah.

The content seems shallow, lacking the detailed insights that viewers were hoping for. Perry, dressed impeccably in suits, offers little personal disclosure, leaving the audience wanting more substance and context.

The documentary heavily emphasizes Perry's spirituality and frequently delves into discussions about race, highlighting his triumphs as a black man overcoming challenges in the industry.

While the theme is undoubtedly crucial, the documentary fails to provide sufficient depth and context, rendering it forgettable and disappointing. Perry's appearances on various talk shows appear to offer more engaging insights than this documentary.

One positive aspect is Perry's evident appreciation for his mother and aunt, providing some touching moments.

Overall, while there may be some takeaway from the documentary, it offers disappointingly little in terms of a comprehensive and detailed exploration of Tyler Perry's life and career.

FOE Review: The Cast Can't Save this Black Mirror Wannabe
12 November 2023
The story unfolds with the mysterious arrival of Terrance, claiming government affiliation. He proposes that Junior leaves home for years to pilot a space program amid Earth's rapid deterioration. Junior resists, but Henrietta absorbs the news, aware of an extensive plan to watch over her during his absence.

Terrance integrates into their lives, conducting interviews and revealing startling visions of the future and grim truths from the past.

Despite stunning visuals and A-list talent, "FOE" falls short. Efforts to inject substance are undermined by nonsensical storytelling and awkward dialogue. Esteemed actors can't salvage the film's status, and deep conversations fall short due to a weak script.

On the surface, "FOE" presents a visually stunning experience, featuring the talents of Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal, and Aaron Pierre as they journey through, picturesque landscapes and delve into profound human emotions like love and loss.

Despite being the central focus, the exploration of Hen and Junior's marriage is not interesting at all.

Junior's possessiveness and jealousy of Hen's interactions with Terrance are unsurprising, while Hen expresses a feeling of stifling predictability in the marriage.

She shares with Terrance the struggle of losing her sense of self within the confines of her unhappy marriage.

Despite her evident discontent, the film persistently attempts to portray her situation as if everything is fine, thereby undermining the sole narrative thread of the story.

The film's superficial ending may prompt you to question the worth of the time you've spent watching it.

Even though it strives to take cues from the sci-fi thriller genre, specifically "Black Mirror," "FOE" fails miserably.

Hulu's new show "Black Cake" is a must-watch.

This multi-generational saga, led by showrunner and executive producer Marissa Jo Cerar, weaves together elements of murder mystery and family drama.

It kicked off on November 1st.

Black Cake delivers an expansive family saga, showcasing mixed-race identities seldom seen in today's TV landscape.

Wartime Realism Meets Nostalgia in 'All the Light We Cannot See'
3 November 2023
"Shawn Levy's Epic Series 'All the Light We Cannot See' premiered on Netflix on Nov. 2, 2023.

Based on Anthony Doerr's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, the four-episode limited series unfolds in a besieged city, immersing viewers in the lives of Marie-Laure, a blind French teenager, and Werner, a German soldier. Their paths cross in occupied France as they navigate the challenges of World War II.

Marie-Laure's story begins in Paris, where her father works at the Museum of Natural History. With the Nazi occupation, they seek refuge in the fortress city of Saint-Malo, accompanied by a precious and perilous museum artifact.

Meanwhile, in a German mining town, orphan Werner and his sister find solace in a radio that brings them tales from distant lands. Werner's talent for building and repairing these radios leads him into the resistance.

While the narrative flirts with romantic and fairy tale elements, it occasionally grounds itself in realism, offering a unique blend of myth and reality.

The casting of visually impaired actors, such as Loberti and Nell Sutton, who portrays young Marie, adds authenticity to the characters, story. This casting choice enhances the representation and genuine portrayal of the story's protagonists.

'All the Light We Cannot See' may not be a typical comfort watch, it offers a glimpse into a simpler time, contrasting with its wartime setting."

NOTHING TO WATCH HERE
28 October 2023
"Burning Betrayal" is unabashedly focused on explicit adult content. If it revealed any more, it might have been better suited for platforms like Pornhub.

It leans heavily on intimate scenes and nudity.

The narrative is thin, centering around a woman betrayed by her fiancé, despite their five-year relationship on the verge of marriage. SO , He has been cheating on her for two years.

Unfortunately, the film lacks a compelling plot and character development, offering little beyond a tired storyline.

The explicit nature of the content may align more with platforms like Pornhub or X Videos.

Nevertheless, the cinematography is commendable, showcasing a well-executed aspect of the film - the nudity.

Big Mouth is a Bold Hilarious Contender Among Adult Animated Series
28 October 2023
"Season seven of 'Big Mouth' maintains its reputation for skillfully combining explicit humor with insightful examinations of mental well being and sexuality.

The season introduces rich storylines that lead to a cliffhanger finale, a departure from previous seasons' fantastical resolutions.

The addition of musical numbers remains a standout feature, with Megan Thee Stallion's contribution as the Hormone Monstress Megan being a highlight.

The bonus episode, featuring international dubbing casts, celebrates the universal awkwardness of puberty in a brilliantly entertaining manner.

This Season came with an exciting addition of new guest stars including accomplished Kenyan actors Lupita Nyong'o, Nice Githinji and Nyokabi Macharia.

Season 7's ambition and creativity rival past standout episodes, proving that 'Big Mouth' still has plenty of excellent ideas up its sleeve.

As the series heads into high school and explores global perspectives the Season has delivered more hilarious and meaningful stories in its penultimate run.

Season 8 will mark this Series' end - bringing the show's total to eight and making it the longest scripted series in Netflix history."

'The Royal Hotel' is a Dirty Drunken Mess
25 October 2023
North Americans Hanna and Liv are best friends backpacking in Australia.

After they run out of money, Liv, looking for an adventure, convinces Hanna to take a temporary live-in job behind the bar of a pub called 'The Royal Hotel' in a remote Outback mining town.

Bar owner Billy and a host of locals give the girls a riotous introduction to Down Under drinking culture but soon Hannah and Liv find themselves trapped in an unnerving situation that grows rapidly out of their control.

Ozark's Julia Garner and her Best Friend Jessica Henwick Star in this dramatic slow burn thriller.

The pacing is deliberate yet engrossing, offering a vivid portrayal of gender roles.

It serves as a stark illustration of the objectification of women and the unchecked behavior of some men under the influence of alcohol.

Set in a remote Australian town, the local pub operates around the clock as the sole source of entertainment.

The imbalance of genders is palpable, with a surplus of men.

While there are unsettling moments where some men display predatory intentions, actual incidents of assault are averted.

The question that lingers is the motive behind the pub's eventual destruction.

Overall, it's a compelling viewing experience, striking a balance between engaging and measured.

Daddy Yankee's 'Neon' Series Glamorizes Hustle Culture
20 October 2023
"Neon," the reggaeton series, debuted on Netflix on October 19th, featuring a cast including Jessie Camacho, Rose Eshay, and Daddy Yankee, who also serves as an executive producer.

Daddy Yankee's 'Neon' series falls short of capturing the real essence of hustling. While young people hustle for their dreams, it's far from glamorous.

There are no piles of cash, extravagant strip club celebrations, Porsche rides, or encounters with A-list celebrities with private plane journeys, all within a mere 24 hours.

The series consists of 8 episodes and follows the journey of three friends who relocate from a small Florida town to pursue their reggaeton dreams in Miami - led by Santi, the artist.

While the premise holds promise, the series begins to lose its grip as it progresses. The storyline takes a turn for the worse, becoming increasingly implausible by the fourth episode.

It's safe to say that you might not find it worthwhile to finish all the episodes, as the narrative becomes unbelievable for a group of young hustlers.

The story of their struggle could have been presented more convincingly. The way they stumble upon record deals, private planes, strip clubs, bundles of cash, and endless parties seems far from reality.

It's cringeworthy and not worth following the storyline, although the reggaeton music in the series is a highlight.

The trailer hinted at potential sex scenes, intimate moments, and romance, but unfortunately, none of that materialized in the series. Including such elements might have added value to the show and made it more engaging.

As it stands, it's rather lacking in entertainment value and comes across as somewhat dull.

The series had immense potential for compelling storylines.

The struggles of the record label owner in his failing marriage could have been a gripping narrative.

The unjust dismissal of the assistant was utterly nonsensical.

The powerful LGBTQ theme in the series was not adequately explored. NEON could have been vastly improved with the inclusion of these promising storylines.

Jamie Foxx, Jurnee Smollett Expose Corporate Greed in 'The Burial'
15 October 2023
In the film 'The Burial', Jamie Foxx brilliantly portrays Willie E. Gary, an unorthodox lawyer who teams up with Jeremiah Joseph O'Keefe, played by Tommy Lee Jones, a struggling funeral home owner, to save his family business from a corporate giant.

From the first two minutes, I knew this courtroom drama had me hooked. The film was graced by Jamie Foxx's comedic finesse - Okey but he is hilarious. His expressive face and humor, even in the tense courtroom scenes, had me in stitches.

When Jurnee Smollett appeared, I was even more certain this would be a great movie. She portrays the opposing counsel, Mame Downes. I have loved Smollett since Tyler Perry's 'Temptations', Netflix's 'Lou', 'The Twilight Zone', 'Birds of Prey', 'Hands of Stone' and more.

The plot, which exposes corporate greed and the exploitation of small business owners, is compelling. The story illustrates the battle of a small entrepreneur against the machinations of a powerful corporation. It sheds light on the company's relentless pursuit to acquire the business at a fraction of its value, aiming to turn it into millions. The film effectively portrays how the pursuit of wealth can lead individuals to lose sight of life's fundamental values, such as the true cost of their own sustenance.

Mamoudou Athie (from Netflix's Archive 81) delivers an outstanding performance.

Overall, 'The Burial' is a must-watch. Catch it on Prime Video.

The Exorcist: Believer and Its Horrific Failings - Review
8 October 2023
"The Exorcist: Believer" is disappointingly a lackluster addition to the horror genre.

Its attempts at instilling fear and suspense falls flat. It left me disengaged and unaffected.

The film's pacing drags, with long stretches of monotony punctuated by predictable and underwhelming scares.

Characters fail to evoke any genuine investment, making it difficult to empathize with their plight.

The plot, devoid of any fresh or inventive elements, follows tired and familiar tropes without offering any refreshing twists or surprises.

It totally fails to deliver on both the comedic and horror fronts.

Throughout the film, I found myself growing increasingly disengaged, repeatedly checking the time in hopes of its imminent conclusion.

The characters lacked memorability, the plot offered nothing groundbreaking, and the acting prompted unintended laughter on numerous occasions. Ridiculous. Laughable.

While I can't speak to the original film, it's safe to say that this particular installment fell short of expectations.

The trailer, in fact, encapsulated virtually the entirety of the movie.

As a fan of quality horror films, I regret to say that "The Exorcist: Believer" does not meet the mark.

"Love at First Sight" Evokes Pure 'Awwww 😍' with its Drama-Free Charm
22 September 2023
"Love at First Sight" on Netflix offers a sweet and often moving romantic comedy experience.

The film relies on the charm of its leads, Richardson and the equally endearing Ben Hardy.

The couple's chemistry shines, making them believable even amidst the film's occasionally overly sentimental dialogue.

While the plot is fairly predictable, it doesn't take away from the fun and heartwarming journey the characters undertake.

From chance meetings at the airport to shared adventures in London, every moment feels serendipitous.

Watching them chase love is genuinely heartening, and you can't help but root for their happy ending.

The film leaves you with a warm, "Awwww..." and an appreciation for its undeniable cuteness.

"Love at First Sight" is a light-hearted, feel-good film with a straightforward and predictable storyline.

It smoothly follows the expected trajectory, delivering exactly what you'd hope for. Overall, it's an enjoyable watch.

"A Haunting in Venice," is a Visual Feast
18 September 2023
In "A Haunting in Venice," set in post-World War II Venice on All Hallows' Eve, the renowned detective Hercule Poirot comes out of retirement for a séance at a decaying palazzo, only to find himself entangled in a sinister web of shadows and secrets when a guest is murdered.

Review - A Haunting in Venice (2023)

The film's execution is commendable, with impressive cinematography, compelling writing, and a gripping murder mystery narrative.

Across its 1 hour and 40 minutes runtime, events unfold in unexpected ways.

The film opens with action sequences, but then transitions into a blend of horror and murder mystery. The cast delivers excellent performances in both genres.

Tina Fey gives a standout performance, and the rest of the ensemble cast, including the young actor, all contribute to the film's success.

The film has emotional undertones that are subtly woven into the story. The characters go through notable transformations, especially in the third act.

"A Haunting in Venice" offers a compelling murder mystery experience. The film's visual aspects, set against the captivating backdrop of Venice, are exceptional.

The camera work, angles, and focus create a fittingly atmospheric and sinister ambiance.

The costumes, masks, and robes add to the 'Halloween aesthetic'. I highly recommend this film. Watch at IMAX!!

The Nun II (2023)

The Nun 2 Review: Valak Returns But Fails to Scare😨
11 September 2023
The sequel, 'The Nun 2', disappointingly offers little in terms of fresh narrative or depth to the established series.

It relies heavily on familiar tropes, resulting in a somewhat monotonous viewing experience.

While dedicated fans of the Conjuring Universe might still find it worth a watch, it's crucial to acknowledge that this installment doesn't bring anything groundbreaking to the table.

The screenplay follows a predictable path, which is understandable given the saturated nature of the genre. Also there's too much screaming and shouting. Okay. Too much.

The latest installment in the Conjuring universe, gets the title of being the weakest entry thus far. The Nun 2 brings back Sister Irene, portrayed by Taissa Farmiga, as she confronts the demonic entity Valak for a thrilling showdown.

The Nun 2 falls short in delivering the essence that made the original film intriguing. Excessive reliance on special effects detracts from the potential impact of simpler scenes.

The climax, involving the defeat of a demon by wine, feels rather anticlimactic. Despite attempts, Valak's eerie appearance and antics still fail to induce genuine fear.

Regrettably, many of the elements that elevated the first film to an underrated gem are conspicuously absent in this installment, including adept pacing, character development, a balanced mix of scares, atmospheric suspense, and a satisfying conclusion.

Multilayered Drama
31 August 2023
This film follows Nina (Drew Sidora) and Maurice (Rob Riley), a married couple who decide to explore an unconventional idea - a "hall pass" from fidelity.

What starts as a straightforward concept takes an unexpected turn,

leading to deception and intrigue.

The film's clever storytelling keeps viewers on the edge, surprising them with unexpected plot twists just when they think they've figured it all out.

In "The Pass," creative storytelling and gripping intrigue blend seamlessly to deliver an engaging cinematic experience.

While Kandi shines on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and in her music career, her foray into acting might not be her strongest suit.

Her performances lack conviction and appear somewhat lackluster. In "The Pass," her portrayal falls a bit short, lacking the necessary depth.

However, the film remains enjoyable, especially with a glass of wine in hand. The drama.

Gal Gadot Blends Espionage and Sci-Fi in Thrilling Spy Tale
12 August 2023
Netflix Film 'Heart of Stone' Review - Gentle Grace Meets High-Octane Action , Gal Gadot's Role in 'Heart of Stone', It is worth watching.

In the Netflix film "Heart of Stone," featuring Gal Gadot in the lead role, her commitment to undertaking many of her own stunts deserves commendation.

Gal Gadot brings a gentle yet graceful demeanor to her character in this intriguing spy thriller, which also incorporates elements of science fiction.

However, I must admit that I found certain aspects of the movie, particularly the combination of Gal Gadot's character working for an organization (The Charter) with a delicate item situated in the Senegalese desert amidst the sky, to be somewhat clichéd and bordering on the absurd.

This aspect of the plot came across as a bit cringe-worthy and caused me to raise an eyebrow.

The film clearly boasts a significant budget and showcases stunning filming locations, including Iceland and Senegal, among others.

While I found the movie enjoyable and engaging, the inclusion of some sci-fi elements left me skeptical and, at times, chuckling due to their somewhat implausible nature.

One of the standout features of the film is Gal Gadot's performance, particularly in delivering high-octane action sequences that are both convincing and impressive.

The notion of Gal Gadot portraying a female counterpart to James Bond does seem to stretch the limits of believability.

Despite this, she manages to deliver a performance that keeps viewers engaged and entertained throughout Netflix's "Heart of Stone."

'Meg 2: The Trench' Review - A Wild Ride of Dumb Fun
8 August 2023
When it comes to movies, sometimes all we need is some good old dumb fun, and "Meg 2: The Trench" delivers just that!

While it may not be an epic or extraordinary film with jaw-dropping moments, it sure knows how to entertain without taking itself too seriously.

The movie is filled with over-the-top creatures and scenarios.

Jonah has transformed into an eco-warrior, taking on a role similar to Jason Statham's, running around beating up the bad guys. He's essentially an overly aggressive Captain Planet, making for a hilarious and action-packed storyline.

Most of the crew from the first movie returns, adding to the familiar and enjoyable atmosphere.

"Meg 2: The Trench" embraces its status as a fan movie set in the deep seas, offering a thrilling ride packed with non-stop action that keeps you engaged throughout.

While it may not aim for greatness, the film delivers on its promise of entertainment.

It's not concerned about scientific accuracy or complex plots, but rather focuses on providing pure joy for shark movie enthusiasts and fans of Jason Statham's action style.

The supporting cast may not steal the show, and the CGI might not be top-notch, but the movie's fun factor outweighs any minor flaws.

"Meg 2: The Trench" is a rollercoaster ride that captivates from start to finish, leaving no room for serious analysis or nitpicking.

If you're a Jason Statham fan or love shark movies, this film will undoubtedly satisfy your craving for action & thrill.

Prepare for an exhilarating two-hour joyride filled with pure, unadulterated bonkers movie-making that will keep you entertained - an experience that's all about good vibes.

Critics Rave About 'Oppenheimer': A Brilliantly Layered Biopic
27 July 2023
Initially, the prospect of enduring a 3-hour film raised doubts within me, contemplating how I could possibly remain engaged for such an extended duration. However, my uncertainty was swiftly dispelled.

Directed and written by the renowned Christopher Nolan, the mastermind behind iconic films like "The Dark Knight trilogy," "Inception," "Interstellar," and "Dunkirk," "Oppenheimer" stands as yet another testament to Nolan's filmmaking expertise.

This weekend, Cinephiles were in for a treat as two highly-anticipated films, "Oppenheimer" and "Barbie," marked their much-awaited debut at the box office.

"Oppenheimer" has emerged as a remarkable biographical thriller, leaving audiences deeply engaged and intellectually stimulated throughout its ambitious 3-hour runtime.

Based on the biography "American Prometheus" by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, the film delves into the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, brilliantly portrayed by the versatile and talented Cillian Murphy.

Sharing the screen with Murphy are powerhouse actors Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh.

Upon entering the theater, viewers are immediately made aware that "Oppenheimer" demands their undivided attention.

The film treats its audience with great respect, offering intelligent storytelling that requires one's wits and fully switched-on brain.

Nolan masterfully crafts a dense and layered screenplay which fires dialogue packed with information at a relentless pace.

The cinematography in "Oppenheimer" is visually arresting, presenting a stark and spare aesthetic while occasionally bursting with vivid and luscious colors, especially during scenes featuring the captivating Florence Pugh.

The score, though beautiful at times, largely contributes to the film's pervasive sense of anxiety and oppression, perfectly complementing the relentless pacing that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.

While the 3-hour runtime might seem daunting to some, "Oppenheimer" surprisingly flies by.

It is a must watch. I rate it 9 out of 10. Awesome.

The Mother (2023)

Uninteresting plot and artificial characters make Netflix's "The Mother" a snooze fest
12 May 2023
"The Mother," a Netflix film, unfortunately falls into the realm of cliché and lacks any interesting elements.

The only reason I continued watching was due to Jennifer Lopez's portrayal of the mother character. However, even her performance felt artificial and lacked originality.

The plot itself was uninteresting, to the point where I almost dozed off within the first 20 minutes.

The moment Omari Hardwick's character was shot, I realized there was nothing substantial to anticipate.

The screenplay failed to engage me, which was a disappointment considering Jennifer Lopez's involvement as a producer.

The only scene that captured my attention was the one set in Cuba, which reminded me of Zoe Saldana's thrilling performance in "Colombiana."

It's disheartening to see Netflix producing such lackluster movies.

I would not recommend "The Mother" unless you have a specific interest in watching a formulaic and unexciting film with a weak plot and script.

If it weren't for Jennifer Lopez's involvement, I wouldn't have bothered watching it.

Omari Hardwick's lack of enthusiasm at "The Mother" Premiere mirrors the film's disappointing and uninspiring nature.

Renfield Offers a Gory and Visceral Cinematic Experience
11 May 2023
Renfield, the highly anticipated horror flick, delivers a thrilling and visceral cinematic experience.

This dark and twisted take on the classic character of Renfield is a gory, fun, and bloody good ride from start to finish.

Renfield isn't just about the gore. The film strikes a perfect balance between horror and dark humor, injecting moments of levity that provide a welcome respite from the intense and graphic nature of the story.

The witty dialogue and cleverly written scenes add a layer of entertainment and make the experience thoroughly enjoyable.

The film's pacing is relentless, maintaining a steady rhythm of tension and excitement throughout.

As the plot unfolds, Renfield's psychological journey becomes increasingly twisted and unpredictable.

Nicolas Cage delivers a flawless portrayal of Renfield, capturing the character's essence with exceptional execution.

Lame Low Budget, Tedious Flick
3 May 2023
First of all, Which couple spends their time on vacation in a cabin together, with no interesting conversations, intimacy or any sort of entertainment, making it seem as though they are bored out of their minds??

A waste of time for anyone who watches it. From the outset, the film lacks any semblance of a coherent plot, leaving viewers scratching their heads in confusion.

The acting is so wooden and unconvincing making it difficult to suspend disbelief and get lost in the story.

Additionally, the script is poorly written, with dialogue that is not only uninteresting but also frequently cringe-worthy.

The jump scares are predictable, and the special effects even worse, so laughably bad that they only serve to break the already fragile suspension of disbelief.

To summarize, it is a low budget horror movie with a lame script, no plot, bad acting, and lackluster.

The viewing experience left me feeling confused and underwhelmed.

While the central theme was strong, the acting and pace were lackluster, and the storyline could have easily been condensed into a single 40-minute episode.

The characters were uninteresting and lacked passion, falling short of the expectations set by the trailer.

The writing and casting choices were subpar, failing to capture the intensity of the more provocative scenes, which seemed to draw inspiration from Fifty Shades of Grey.

Overall, the series failed to captivate and lacked the thrills and excitement needed to keep the audience engaged.

Finally watched Amazon's "Gangs of Lagos" and I was impressed with its authentic acting and engaging plot.

The sound design, photography, sound engineering, and score all added to the overall positive experience. They effectively conveyed the energy and atmosphere of Lagos,(a place I have never been before) - immersing us in the world of Oba (Tobi Bakre) and his companions as they traversed the gritty city streets.

The film's portrayal of Nigerian culture is truly captivating. It authentically showcases various aspects such as the cuisine, music, clothing, and fashion, which I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing.

Although the chemistry between the three main characters could have been improved, "Gangs of Lagos" successfully captures the essence of corruption, political violence, and the struggles of life in the ghetto. This film marks a significant milestone for Nollywood, and other African nations would benefit from watching and learning from its successes.
