Awesometastic, for the lack of a better word
This was one of the cutest dramas I've ever watched. The chemistry between the two main leads was perfect! It had a kind-of engaging plot so I binged it over the course of a few days.
Some things that I didn't like were how there were a lot of things going on in the plot. Sometimes it felt like too much. With the murder mystery that we're introduced to in the first episode to the side stories of each one of the ghosts, it feels like the show is running multiple different plots.
But -- and a very big but -- this can easily be overlooked if you just focus on the comedy and cute scenes in this drama. Don't take it seriously, and only watch if you want something light.
Definitely would recommend!

I really wish it was better...
I love the Webtoon that this is based on and have been reading it for quite a while. I had known that there was a show based on it but was putting off watching it because my life was kind of crazy at that time. When I finally sat down to watch it, I was disappointed immediately. The female lead is super adorable, but the actor who plays Who Joon does not live up to my expectations. To be honest, I was expecting a super hot, charismatic hunk and this Who Joon just didn't give me that. Most of the side characters have annoying personalities and are kind of bad at acting (sorry!). The FL and Joon are too different from what they're supposed to be as per the webtoon, and Joon's basically bipolar in the show. There's too many cliche scenes, I'm not satisfied with their chemistry... I could go on and on. After the end of each episode, I would sit there and think, "What did I just watch?"
Don't watch it unless you're really into cheesy, half-put-together romantic stuff.

my kind of romance
THIS. This is what I'm looking for in a romance show. It has equal parts drama, humor, suspense, and above all, a sweet and passionate romance. At first, I thought the FL was kind of a... female dog, but I changed my mind as the show slowly revealed more things about her past and why she acts the way she does. Her experiences and struggles as a blind person seemed very real, not dramatized or romanticized as many shows do. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to watch this because it has to do with Christianity and I'm not Christian, however, they didn't bring up as much as I thought they would. Non-Christians will have no problem watching this. Kim Dan is literally so cute and he's the perfect person for this role. I love everything about this show, from the side plot of the Geum family being kinda evil and the conflict of Dan not being able to become a human. It wasn't all sweet and lovey-dovey like most romance shows are.
One thing I didn't like was that the ending felt too short and rushed, as it often is with most kdramas. They usually try to pack in the main characters' happy ending in just one episode. I wish we could have had another episode to see Dan and Yeon-seo's life together. The series ends at a kind-of cliffhanger and that makes me mad. Regardless, it's still a masterpiece.

don't believe the bad reviews
This drama is literally my favorite drama of all time. I've rewatched it more than ten times but nothing can top it. The emotional attachment I have to HiP is insane! It's a mix of so many different genres, such as mystery, comedy, thriller, romance, supernatural, fantasy, and even more. It does a wonderful job of tying all of these genres together and presenting them in a beautiful, cohesive show.
It starts off slightly slow, but it picks up the pace after the time jump around episode three. After Ep 3, it's really interesting to watch and there's never a dull moment. The two main leads have SUCH GOOD CHEMISTRY it feels like they're dating/married even in real life! Both of them have had traumatic experiences in their pasts, but their trauma and experiences feel very real and not dramatized like many other kdramas do. HiP does an excellent job of showing what trauma is actually like and how it affects people (for example, Jae-in's panic disorder).
The two main leads as well as the supporting roles act wonderfully. They take my breath away. One of the most interesting characters is defintely Kim Kwon's character, Lee An's older brother Seung Mo. Seung Mo is a multi-dimensional character who has many faces and aspects of his personality and his past are revealed slowly throughout the entire show. At the start of HiP, he seems quite normal, but his past is shown slowly as pieces of the puzzle start falling in place. I won't elaborate further on this topic as I don't want to include any spoilers, but I really fell in love with Kim Kwon's acting as Seung Mo. He does a phenomenal job playing such a unique character.
One last thing I wanna say is that you shouldn't believe the bad reviews! I know that some people have said it starts off a little slow, but you have to wait patiently for the story to come into full swing. There are also some reviews complaining about the ending, but the ending cannot be looked at objectively. Some people will like it, some people won't. So you have to watch it first before judging it! The last 2 episodes do feel slightly rushed and messily put together, but the rest of the show compensates for that mistake.
I know that this drama is extremely underrated which might make you a little hesitant to watch it. BUT YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW!
RIGHT. NOW!
Thank me later <3.

IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THIS YET WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING?
It's honestly kind of crazy to me how much I like this show. From the very first scene, I was hooked, even though I didn't click on this show with the intention of watching it. I had thought, "Oh, what is this?" and started the first episode out of curiosity. I didn't know that Flower of Evil would end up being one of my favorite shows ever.
With this show, there's never a dull moment. It had never failed to keep my attention. There are a lot of intense, heavy, and emotional scenes. I do admit, I have cried a lot while watching FoE.
The acting, the storyline, the plot twists, everything is just perfectly executed. Lee Joon-gi may not be the hottest (appearance-wise) kdrama actor out there, but he is definitely one of the best. Towards the end of the show, there were a lot of heart-wrenching scenes that made me scream and shout and cry and squeal at the same time. It's really hard to make viewers feel that much emotion, but Lee Joon-gi brings it out with his acting. Everyone acted wonderfully.
Also, Hyun Soo's character definitely has a mental disorder in the show, and LJG does a great job of portraying his internal struggles. FoE doesn't romanticize or sugarcoat mental illnesses. It shows the reality of what it's like to be different from everybody, and I think it does a phenomenal job showing what PTSD is truly like. In his childhood, Hyun Soo was called a psychopath and everyone in his village had convinced him that he couldn't feel emotions. However, that was a misdiagnosis and his symptoms appear to be more like PTSD and schizophrenia. Hyun Soo always believed that he couldn't feel emotions and struggled to accept that emotions affected him as well. After watching FoE, I researched these two illnesses a lot and from what I've learned, FoE is truly an accurate representation of what people suffering from these diseases go through. I really empathize with everyone who's going through these kinds of things because through FoE, I have seen how much it can affect your life, actions, and relationships. Flower of Evil does justice to these illnesses, especially PTSD.
I don't want to include any spoilers in this review, so I don't have much more to say. YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW RIGHT NOW! Trust me, you won't regret it.

Heartwarming and interesting (might contain some spoilers)
18 Again is out of my alley because I'm definitely into more fast-paced thrillers and murder mystery type kdramas. However, this drama, with its eye-catching plot and beautifully cast characters, kept my attention till the very end. I'm sure you've read lots of reviews singing praises of this kdrama, and I wholeheartedly agree with them. However, let me tell you a few things (just a few!) that felt a little off to me.
1. The age gap problems that Da Jung and Dae Young faced.
When Dae Young was living as Wooyoung, he tried to make moves on Da Jung because, obviously, she was his wife and he was in love with her. However, to Da Jung, he was just another teenage boy who had something like a celebrity crush on her. I'm okay with the "young boy liking older woman" trope, and I know Dae Young isn't actually young because his real age is something like 38. But Da Jung doesn't know that, and in that one scene where Wooyoung/Dae Young makes a move on her, she KISSES HIM BACK! Same thing with Chu Aerin. They both were fantasizing about a TEENAGE BOY!!! I don't know about you, but that makes me feel kind of uncomfortable. I think their chemistry could have been shown without the weird romantic moments.
2. I wish we could've known why he turned 18 again.
Throughout the show, there are hints towards somebody orchestrating this entire scenario as a sort of experiment on Dae Young. There are clips of somebody taking pictures of him and writing everything he does in a case file sort of document. I WANNA KNOW WHO THAT IS!!!!! I feel like the story would have been so much more interesting if there was a side plot of the people who were running this experiment on Dae Young. It would have given the show something more to offer other than just romance (not that romance is a bad thing!).
I thought I would find more things wrong with this drama, but I really don't have any more complaints about it! Overall, if you like slow-paced, romantic-comedy dramas with just a touch of supernatural, THIS DRAMA IS FOR YOU!
Final rating: 8/10.
