Hiroki's transformation from a timid introvert to a brave leader is one of the highlights, as he becomes the linchpin for the group's unity and determination. The romantic tension between him and the charismatic and outgoing Kaori adds depth to the plot, creating emotional moments that resonate with the audience.

Sound and Music (8/10): The anime's soundtrack complements the narrative wonderfully, with a mix of haunting melodies and catchy summer tunes. The sound effects during ghostly encounters effectively heighten the eerie atmosphere, sending shivers down viewers' spines. As the characters confront their fears and regrets, they develop a profound appreciation for life and the connections they share. The ghostly encounters serve as a metaphor for the emotional baggage that can haunt individuals, emphasizing the importance of facing one's inner demons.

Overall, Summer Shadows is a captivating ghost anime that successfully blends supernatural elements with heartfelt human drama. It will undoubtedly appeal to fans of both the supernatural and slice-of-life genres. Though it might not push the boundaries of its genre, the well-executed animation, compelling characters, and poignant themes make it a must-watch for any anime enthusiast, especially during the summer season.

Jujutsu Kaisen (2020– )
7/10
A Promising Start with Room for Improvement
6 July 2023
Jujutsu Kaisen, an anime series adapted from Gege Akutami's manga, offers a thrilling supernatural story filled with unique characters and captivating action. While it boasts many commendable aspects, there are a few areas that prevent it from reaching the pinnacle of excellence.

Engaging Plot: Jujutsu Kaisen presents an intriguing narrative centered around the world of curses and jujutsu sorcery. The blend of supernatural elements, well-executed battles, and intense stakes keeps the story consistently captivating. The initial premise and subsequent arcs demonstrate strong potential for long-term storytelling.

Memorable Characters: The anime introduces a diverse cast of characters, each with their distinct personalities and abilities. Protagonist Yuji Itadori showcases growth and depth as he grapples with his newfound powers. However, some supporting characters receive less development and may leave viewers wanting more.

Animation and Art: The animation quality in Jujutsu Kaisen is outstanding. From the fluid fight sequences to the vibrant visuals, the animation studio brings the manga's dynamic artwork to life. The attention to detail in character designs and visually striking curses enhances the overall viewing experience.

Action-Packed Battles: Jujutsu Kaisen excels in delivering intense and well-choreographed battles. The clash between jujutsu sorcerers and curses is a visual treat, combining flashy techniques with strategic maneuvering. The fight scenes are a definite highlight, packed with adrenaline-pumping moments.

Pacing Issues: One drawback of the series is its occasionally inconsistent pacing. Certain arcs may feel rushed, compromising the depth and emotional impact of the story. The need for a more balanced narrative flow is apparent, particularly in certain transitional moments between arcs.

Lack of World-Building: While Jujutsu Kaisen introduces a fascinating world with its own rules and mythos, the anime doesn't fully explore the depths of this universe. Greater emphasis on world-building would have enriched the viewers' understanding of the jujutsu sorcery system and the overall lore.

Soundtrack and Voice Acting: The anime's soundtrack contributes to the overall ambiance, enhancing key moments with fitting music. Additionally, the voice acting performances are commendable, effectively conveying the emotions and personalities of the characters.

Overall, Jujutsu Kaisen is an enjoyable anime that showcases strong storytelling, stunning animation, and thrilling battles. While some pacing issues and a lack of extensive world-building hinder its potential, it remains a solid entry in the supernatural action genre. Fans of shonen anime and those seeking supernatural adventures will find plenty to appreciate in Jujutsu Kaisen's supernatural world.

A Captivating Tale of Young Love and Self-Discovery
4 July 2023
Blue Spring Ride, adapted from the manga of the same name, is a captivating anime that explores the complexities of young love and personal growth. With its endearing characters, heartfelt storytelling, and visually appealing animation, it delivers an emotionally resonant experience for viewers.

One of the strongest aspects of Blue Spring Ride lies in its characters. Protagonist Futaba Yoshioka is a relatable and multi-dimensional lead, navigating the challenges of her past while discovering her true self. Her growth throughout the series, as she learns to express her emotions and confront her vulnerabilities, is inspiring. The supporting cast adds depth and variety to the narrative, each with their own unique struggles and motivations, contributing to the overall richness of the story.

The romance in Blue Spring Ride is beautifully portrayed, capturing the tumultuous nature of adolescent relationships. The central relationship between Futaba and Kou Mabuchi, the enigmatic male lead, is both heartwarming and bittersweet. Their journey from reconnecting after a long separation to navigating their complicated feelings is portrayed with sensitivity and authenticity. The series effectively explores themes of unrequited love, friendship, and the importance of communication in relationships.

Visually, Blue Spring Ride boasts appealing animation that complements the story's tone and emotions. The character designs are expressive, and the animation fluidly captures the characters' subtle gestures and facial expressions. The art style is vibrant and aesthetically pleasing, creating an inviting and immersive atmosphere.

The storytelling in Blue Spring Ride strikes a balance between lighthearted moments and emotional depth. It effectively delves into the characters' internal struggles and explores themes of self-discovery and personal growth. The pacing is generally well-executed, although some viewers may find certain episodes slower in comparison to others. Nevertheless, the overall narrative arc remains engaging and thought-provoking.

Despite its strengths, Blue Spring Ride does have a few minor shortcomings. Some plot points may feel predictable, adhering to common romantic tropes. Additionally, certain character arcs could have been further developed to provide a more comprehensive exploration of their individual stories.

In conclusion, Blue Spring Ride is a captivating anime that successfully captures the essence of young love and self-discovery. With its endearing characters, heartfelt storytelling, and visually appealing animation, it offers an emotionally resonant experience. While it may have a few predictable elements and missed opportunities for character development, the overall quality of the series is undeniably strong, warranting a solid 8/10 rating.

A flawed but rewarding isekai
1 July 2023
I think it is a flawed anime, but it is also a rewarding one. The show has some serious problems, such as its protagonist's questionable behavior and the way it handles certain sexual themes. However, it also has many strengths, such as its beautiful animation, its engaging story, and its well-developed characters.

One of the things that I appreciate most about Mushoku Tensei is its animation. The show is produced by Studio Bind, which is a relatively new studio, but they have done an amazing job with this anime. The animation is fluid, detailed, and expressive. The character designs are also very well-done.

The story of Mushoku Tensei is also very engaging. The show follows the journey of Rudeus Greyrat, a man who is reincarnated into a fantasy world as a baby. Rudeus is a talented mage and swordsman, but he also has a lot of personal baggage from his previous life. As the show progresses, Rudeus learns to overcome his flaws and become a better person.

The characters in Mushoku Tensei are also very well-developed. Rudeus is a complex and relatable protagonist, and he is surrounded by a cast of interesting and supporting characters. The show does a good job of exploring the relationships between these characters, and it shows how they grow and change over time.

Overall, I think Mushoku Tensei is a flawed but rewarding anime. It is not perfect, but it is still a very enjoyable show. If you can look past its flaws, I think you will find a lot to love about this anime.

Here are some additional thoughts on Mushoku Tensei:

The show's world-building is impressive. The setting is well-developed and feels lived-in.

The magic system is interesting and creative.

There are a lot of different spells and abilities to learn about.

The action scenes are well-animated and exciting.

The voice acting is top-notch. The English dub is especially good.

If you are looking for an isekai anime with beautiful animation, a compelling story, and well-developed characters, then I recommend checking out Mushoku Tensei. Just be aware that the show does have some serious flaws, such as its protagonist's questionable behavior and the way it handles certain sexual themes.

Missed Marks and Hollow Vengeance
29 June 2023
This anime Had the potential to offer a unique and compelling story. However, what could have been an intriguing exploration of personal growth, revenge, and self-discovery turned out to be a shallow and disappointing experience. This criticising review aims to shed light on the numerous shortcomings and missed opportunities that plague this series.

First and foremost, the show's protagonist, Masamune Makabe, is an utterly unlikable and one-dimensional character. While revenge narratives often present complex anti-heroes, Masamune comes across as nothing more than a superficial caricature of vengeance. His entire motivation revolves around getting back at a girl who rejected him in his childhood due to his weight. This shallow objective does not provide enough substance to sustain the story, making it difficult for viewers to invest in his journey.

The supporting characters in Masamune-kun's Revenge fare no better. Aki Adagaki, the primary target of Masamune's revenge, is portrayed as a cold-hearted, arrogant girl with very little depth beyond her initial impression. The romantic tension between Masamune and Aki lacks any genuine chemistry or emotional resonance, leaving the viewer disinterested in their relationship. The ensemble cast, including side characters like Yoshino Koiwai and Neko Fujinomiya, fail to receive adequate development, making their involvement in the narrative feel forced and unnecessary.

The series suffers from a severe lack of narrative progression. The story revolves around Masamune's attempts to win Aki's heart, but it becomes a repetitive cycle of failed attempts, comedic misunderstandings, and contrived situations. The plot fails to explore the characters' growth or offer any meaningful introspection. Instead, it relies on overused tropes and fan service to keep viewers engaged, resulting in a narrative that feels stale and predictable.

Furthermore, the humor in Masamune-kun's Revenge often falls flat. The attempts at comedy rely heavily on cheap gags, slapstick humor, and the sexualization of characters, which undermines any potential for genuine comedic moments. The reliance on such crass humor further detracts from the show's supposed focus on revenge and personal growth.

Visually, the anime is unremarkable. While the character designs are decent, the animation quality lacks consistency, resulting in stiff and uninspiring action sequences. The background art and overall aesthetic fail to leave a lasting impression, making the series visually forgettable.

In conclusion, Masamune-kun's Revenge is a disappointingly shallow anime that fails to live up to its potential. The lackluster characters, stagnant plot, and reliance on tired tropes make for an uninspired viewing experience. This series fails to deliver on its promise of a compelling revenge story, leaving audiences with an empty and unfulfilling narrative. It's best to steer clear of this anime and seek out more engaging and thought-provoking series instead.

Sweet and heartwarming
29 June 2023
My Clueless First Friend is a heartwarming anime about the friendship between two young people from different worlds. Nishimura is a shy and gloomy fifth-grade girl who is the target of her classmates' relentless bullying and teasing. Takada is the new kid at school, and he is as clueless as he is well-meaning. But somehow, he possesses the magic ability to start drawing Nishimura out of her shell.

The anime does a good job of portraying the complex emotions of bullying and friendship. Nishimura is understandably withdrawn and self-doubting, but Takada's kindness and patience slowly help her to open up. The two of them form a genuine bond, and they learn to rely on each other for support.

The anime is also funny and charming. Takada's cluelessness is often played for laughs, but it also serves to highlight his good heart. And Nishimura's gradual transformation from a gloomy girl to a happy and confident one is heartwarming to watch.

Love, Drama, and Mixed Emotions
22 June 2023
Domestic Girlfriend is an anime that offers a whirlwind of emotions, a rollercoaster of love triangles, and a blend of drama that will keep you captivated. While it has its fair share of strengths and weaknesses, it manages to offer a unique and compelling story that will leave you pondering its complexities.

On the positive side, Domestic Girlfriend excels in delivering intense and emotionally charged moments. The narrative explores the intricate relationships between the characters, diving deep into their struggles, desires, and insecurities. The complex love triangles and forbidden relationships add layers of tension, making each episode a gripping experience. The anime isn't afraid to tackle mature themes such as love, sexuality, and self-discovery, which sets it apart from more conventional romance series.

Another strong aspect of Domestic Girlfriend is its character development. The main protagonists, Natsuo, Rui, and Hina, undergo significant growth throughout the series. Their journeys are filled with obstacles and heartbreak, and witnessing their personal transformations is both captivating and relatable. The supporting cast also adds depth to the story, each bringing their own unique dynamics and perspectives.

However, Domestic Girlfriend does have its shortcomings. One notable flaw is the pacing of the story. At times, it feels rushed, particularly when important events or character developments occur in quick succession. This can make it difficult to fully digest the emotional impact of certain scenes or grasp the nuances of the relationships. Additionally, the anime occasionally relies on melodramatic moments that may feel forced or overly exaggerated, taking away from the authenticity of the story.

Furthermore, while the series explores mature themes, it occasionally struggles to handle them with the necessary depth and sensitivity. Certain plotlines and character arcs could have been explored more thoroughly, providing a better understanding of the characters' motivations and inner conflicts. Some viewers may find this lack of depth to be a missed opportunity, preventing them from fully connecting with the characters and their choices.

In conclusion, Domestic Girlfriend offers a compelling and emotionally charged story that delves into the complexities of love, relationships, and personal growth. It succeeds in delivering intense moments and character development, but falls short in terms of pacing and handling certain themes. If you enjoy dramatic romance series with flawed but relatable characters, Domestic Girlfriend is worth a watch. However, if you prefer a more measured and nuanced exploration of complex relationships, you may find it lacking.

Adipurush (2023)
3/10
Utterly Disappointing
18 June 2023
Adipurush is a 2023 Indian epic action film that had the potential to be a great adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana. However, the film is ultimately a disappointment, thanks to its slow pacing, uneven tone, and lack of emotional depth.

The film's performances are all solid, with Prabhas giving a good performance as Rama and Saif Ali Khan giving a more nuanced performance as Ravana. However, the film's supporting cast is largely underutilized, and the film's action sequences are not as exciting as they could have been.

The film's biggest problem is its pacing. The first half of the film is slow and ponderous, and the film's tone is uneven, veering between serious and comedic. This makes it difficult to get invested in the story or the characters.

The film also lacks emotional depth. The film's battle scenes are exciting, but they lack the emotional impact that they could have had. The film's love story between Rama and Sita is also underdeveloped.

Overall, Adipurush is a missed opportunity. The film had the potential to be a great adaptation of the Ramayana, but it is ultimately a disappointment.

Komi Can't Communicate (2021–2022)
6/10
Repetitive and Annoying
17 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Komi Can't Communicate is a boring, repetitive, and annoying anime that is not worth your time. The show is about a high school girl named Komi who has a severe case of social anxiety. She is so afraid of talking to people that she is unable to utter a single word. The only way that Komi can communicate is through handwritten notes.

The show's premise is interesting, but it is not executed well. The characters are one-dimensional and the plot is predictable. The show relies too heavily on Komi's social anxiety for laughs, and it quickly becomes tiresome.

The worst part of the show is the special treatment that Komi receives. She is constantly given special passes and privileges that no other student gets. This makes her seem like a Mary Sue, and it undermines the show's message about the importance of overcoming social anxiety.

If you are looking for a good anime about social anxiety, I would recommend A Silent Voice. It is a much more realistic and nuanced portrayal of the condition. Komi Can't Communicate is a waste of time, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I know that some people love this anime, but I just couldn't get into it. I found it to be boring, repetitive, and annoying. If you're looking for a good anime about social anxiety, I would recommend A Silent Voice instead.
