Objector (2019)
Well Done!
This Film is very well made and offers good insight into the topic from several angles. It manages to both elevate and humanise israelies and palestinians at the same time in an intelligent manner.
It shines both a light on the difficulties, pressures and sacrifices that come with resistance to established norms, and also puts them in the appropriate context without being sensationalist.
The discussions among the israeli familiy are fascinating. I wish there were a little more of that, although the film is very well paced and every scene seems well chosen to me.
Very much worth a watch even if, like me, you think you've seen everything on the topic.
The Maus (2017)
Criminally underated!
This is one of only 3 movies that ever gave me goosebumps throughout most of the runtime (The others being "Martyrs" and "Come and See").
The Cinematography is claustrophobic and beautiful. The acting is stellar, especially from Alma Terzic, who's character practically oozes hatred and fear out of the screen.
After reading some of the comments here i couldn't help but go look for other reviews; someone on rotten tomatoes wrote: "like actual war made into a movie"; I think that pretty much sums it up.
If you enjoy atmospheric, understated, and smart psychological horror and if you are like me, sick of the usual Hollywood-Horror stuff, then do yourself a favor and watch this. It's currently on Netflix.
