A really beautiful movie
8 January 2023
It's a really beautiful movie, especially the visuals. You don't see the typical Napoli, the one from the post cards or the tourism agencies. Instead you see the real one, the poor families, the mafia, the struggle, and most importantly, the desire of the people to survive. It felt so real, I never lived what the characters went through but at some moments, it really felt like the things on screen had happened to me before. The writing is also really good, the way the elements are brought is not heavy, and even if we don't have all the cards to understand at the beginning, we don't feel left out. Things we see at the beginning of the movie make sense when they happen, and even more sense once we get the full picture. It was also refreshing to see bits of Arabic culture, instead of having a really cliché view of it. I loved watching it, but i think if i had to watch it on my own, instead that at the movie theater, I wouldn't have been 100% focused on it and I guess I would have been bored at some point. Despite that, I still recommend it.

Really nice and unique
2 January 2023
Really nice concept, really interesting, the only problem is indeed that at some point, it becomes confusing. At each scene, you have to guess in which time line we are, remember what happened to the main characters of the scene, but also sometimes to the other two characters. To be honest, at some point, I didn't know in what timeline we were nor what happened before, like for the whale scene. But other from that, understanding what happens is possible, and even if the characters are annoying at the beginning, they become really nice. I think it's really cool to have a romcom with such a unique concept, it really makes it special.

Empty and incestuous
2 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I felt like not much happens, it didn't feel like it was going anywhere. I liked the scenes at the end where the relationship between Olivia and the guy evolve. It was really, but at the same time, idk it felt incestuous. If it was only for them being somewhat physically close (they hug and dance together) i wouldn't think much, but him asking his mother at the beginning of the movie if she'd have intercourse with him if they were the last humans on earth made me really uncomfortable. He also later look at Olivia, his step sister with a magnifying glass, and he specifically looks at her lips. Those two moments didn't bring anything to the movie, so I'm really wondering if it's just me overthinking. And other from that, yeah, I think the plot is really interesting but it wasn't taken advantage of, and instead was pretty plain. However, the songs were really cool, the scene where they dance with ragazzo solo ragazza sola was amazing, really emotional, if i had to rate this scene, I'd give it a 10/10.
