Best Series EVER
8 November 2023
Sad to know there will be no further seasons. I felt there was excellent character development, acting and filming. Storylines were well written, easy to follow and had no dumbing down. They were very cohesive. I am sure the budget was fairly high per episode and that contributed to the series being cancelled. I feel it should seriously be reconsidered. The costuming was done quite accurately and I found it quite believable.

My thanks to the entire cast, writers and crew. Y'all did absolutely FABULOUS!! You All have room to be Very Be Proud. This was a great Ensemble Cast, A Great Writing Crew, Wonderfully Directed, Beautifully Filmed and Edited. How it comes to be cancelled is a puzzle.

Moonfall (2022)

Fun and Active movie
10 July 2023
Gotta love Roland Emmerich for creating light hearted entertainment. I enjoyed this for just that reason. The acting was fine, no academy awards coming out of this but the actors were all on top of it, the premise was fun and wildly out there but so much could be taken with a degree of concern. It was a great balance of humor and drama. Never a dull moment. The ending left me wondering if a sequel is in the plan.

The movie is full of cgi, lovely shots of Halle Berry with her beautiful smile and the moon cast as a machine in need of NASAs assistance to remain in orbit. Halle as an astronaut is perfect.

Excellent backstory
3 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Not having read TLOU I don't know how the miniseries is tracking with the game. I do think this was a great insight into how folks were dealing with the pandemic. I appreciate the survivalist thinking and off grid preparation Bill had. I was happy he and Frank found each other. I was especially happy they formed a friendship with Tess and Joel. Things in our post pandemic times we are begining to resume/do. I thought the writing was strong. The acting was eloquent. Well played All. Maybe folks need to just relax and enjoy the series for what it is. It's really a kudos to what it was derived from.

Beautifully done replicant
6 August 2022
I have zero complaint to state about this movie. I initially saw it prior to 'In Order Of Disappearence', and now feel I can say they both are wonderful. It's a strong and complete story, answering the questions and pulling you along. In a simplistic statement, a mans son is killed, he seeks revenge and gains it. It is the cross stories that make this a compelling and fulfilling piece of entertainment. The landscape is integral to the story and beautiful, northern snowy mountains with icy gusting winds. Chilling like this movie. Acting of Liam Neesen is so powerful, and the rest of the actors all just spot on.

Harder to watch than Finding Pvt Ryan
4 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I despise racism. I am Mexican American & have faced my share. I applaud Spike Lee for again crossing the line and blow torching the point into our eyes, but this was heartbreaking in its ruthless use of black actors portraying black face minstrels for a mainstream TV show. This has been called a comedy. I am uncertain why. I found nothing comedic in it. The use of ridicule and stereotyping of blacks by showing old clips, by the minstrel show itself, I didn't find funny. The script was cohesive, the filming well done. Directorially Mr Lee was, as usual, spot on. But I hated this movie. Actors did their roles to perfection. They broke my heart. Bravo to the production. I will never watch it again.

Deep dark intelligent study on human coping
31 July 2022
While this movie is based on two men of the law pursuing a serial killer, it is actually about the human condition. Mr Washington and Mr Malek have delivered some the finest, most subtle performances I have seen on the screen in years. The script was well written and, if followed by viewers, shows how we, as complex beings, attempt to cope with our darker sides. None of us ever wishes to encounter the antithesis of who we believe we are, but sometimes we are forced to. Each of these men does, and finds a method of living with it. There isn't a lot of shoot em up or chase scenes, no beating of suspects. There is turmoil and conflict. There is personal assessment. But then, there isn't a lot of responsibility in society anymore, just a lot of ego and self gratification.

Excellent film about apocalyptic flooded Earth

Warning: Spoilers
I would have given this movie a solid ten for the story, cast, directing, action, stunts, filming and editing. To me, it was hurt by the costuming and properties. I know, trivialities but they ARE a major part of the movie. The boat Costner had was great, the atoll was great, the mangled Valdez was even believable, but come on... these folks NEVER SAW DRYLAND. NEVER saw a cow, horse, no animal to skin. Nothing to make leather from. The rifles, the spear guns? Talk about jumping the shark. Sorry knocked off a couple of points for those.

BOAT that has a factual error but stands pretty strong
29 December 2021
I truly enjoyed this. It is a BOAT story, and done exceptionally well, except Churchill wasn't the PM of the UK in 1939. ( I docked 1 point for that, it was Neville Chamberlain) I thought the acting was great, the costuming and filming spot on, the locations perfect. I found the story believeable up to the PM goof.

This school was something I hadn't heard about before and found both fascinating and sad. In war too many folks die, and that makes me sad.

Simply put, this was a GREAT show
2 December 2021
MOET was an intelligent, interesting, likeable show. Sadly, we only got to experience this, in all its convoluted elegance, for one season.

Mare is the Chief of Police in Easttown, PA and our primary character. She comes complete with parents, an ex husband, and kids.

Good thing Mare is good at her job, though some of the citizens are equally good at decent, offering her roadblocks and red herrings.

Her birth family and divorced family are equally dysfunctional, though loving. Life might just be like a typical middle class America, circa 2019.

Well written, brilliantly acted. Characters were believeable from many views: costuming, story, acting. Material was adult oriented covering serious issues. Mild nudity, strong language, violence, murder.

What a thoroughly enjoyable film!
13 November 2021
Just watched on Netflix and can't wait: a) for the sequel (hint hint) and b) to purchase my own blu ray (hint hint).

In these stressful times this movie is the best. It is funny, heart warming, tantalizing and filled with likeable characters. There is mild suspense and a cohesive storyline. And, what the heck, a boy gets a girl. What more do you want? Oh yeah, a few robberies, chase scenes, dramatic escapes and gunfights. Lots of fun.

When you just need a good relaxing laugh out loud movie
28 May 2021
Funny well written bit of cinema that I finally got to see six years after it came out. Great cast with spot on acting from scene one to wrap. Beautiful flow as David, our bumbling protagonist, tries to work his debt off by being a mule for his weed supplier. Of course, what could possibly go wrong with this? Maybe just one or five tiny things? Laughed til I cried.

Just Wonderful
25 April 2021
Soul is heart warming and will bring a tear to your eye. It is the first Pixar for adults, so I feel many will identify with the main character Joe. The story is well developed and Pixar is the best at animation. It remains so since it has been joined with Disney, which I worried about. The amazing characters & the acting was so spot on. Just a delight from start to finish.

Carrie Mulligan Rocked It!!!
25 April 2021
This was a suspenceful rapid paced movie on a modern topic. Strong storyline, well developed characters with brilliant casting and spot on acting by ALL. Cinematography was clean and settings were beautiful. I haven't got one complaint to voice. We rented, DVD only available, bet blue ray would be amazing.

Great performances in seriously strange movie
23 March 2021
These are some of the best performances I have seen in years in a beautifully filmed & costumed movie. I only disliked the story. The main character has addictive personality disorder combined with self esteem issues. He is not bound to anyone. He is not likeable. Yet, I found this film to be both strange and magnetizing.

Not a decent Alex Cross
13 March 2021
Sorry to say but this just didn't fly. Mr Perry wasn't very strong as Alex Cross. The script was too flabby, and what the DP was thinking of with the chopped up filming techniques is beyond me. Nana Mama was brilliantly portrayed by Cicely Tyson, which was the high point of the film. All the other law enforcement were ok. Mr Peterson has written Alex Cross as a strong and decisive person. Mr Perry just wasn't quite there. Perhaps leaner and meaner material would have helped.

Tenet (2020)

You will need 'Those Little Grey Cells'
25 January 2021
I found Tenet to be a little confusing, but a very exciting, impassioned and delightful movie. It is fast paced, has a storyline that does actually complete itself, if you follow it, it has excellent acting in all rôles and the action scenes are spot on. The cut we saw was a perfect length. Cinematography was beautiful, with rich colors where appropriate. This is the type movie you actually need to watch, not sit and chatter your way through. I trained in costuming for theater and give kudos to the costumer, as the leading lady is 6'3" and looked ravishing where possible for a spy movie. (The guys all look great, too, but who cares. If you don't enjoy the movie just stay for Elizabeth Debicki's screen shots. She is beautiful.) No, seriously. This is a highly entertaining movie and I am hoping there will be a sequel, as the ending loosely left room for one. Great job to ALL involved in this project. Considering the pandemic impacting movies, it wasn't a blockbuster, but if more folks rent or buy it, it will have a bit better return. Hint hint. Watch it. Relax and just pay attention.

Seriously Underrated
18 October 2020
This fast paced, well acted movie was a joy to watch. The script was strong until the last three minutes, thus my 9/10 rating. I don't do spoilers, so let's just say I wanted our characters together for dinner. The action scenes were believable & appropriate, the dialogue was great- often witty with funny sarcasm. The bloodiness was proportional for a cop show, the R rating is fair. There were moments of insight & personal growth, so don't get other reviews claiming the movie had "no heart". We liked it, and I will buy a copy on blue ray. Nuff said.

Delightful Movie about Sherlock & Mycrofts Sister
29 September 2020
This film was totally enjoyable in every way. The story was compelling and well written, the costumes were spot on, the acting was perfection, and to see beautiful England, well what more can one ask?! The overall settings and historical references were just delicious. Cinematography was clean and beautiful. We enjoyed the movie for all this but truely it was just a fun soft mystery without profanity, harsh bloodshed or distressing scenes. A relaxing and entertaining fare. What a joy. There were some stretches of reality, but so what? They added to the film. It is a keeper and I hope they make more of the Enola Holmes tales.

Too many flaws
24 September 2020
The concept is great. The acting was lovely. The costuming is much too modern, the language 2020, not 1870s. The story is interesting but the pace is slow. The martial arts were well done, but how can you have a series when the protagonist meets his goal in the first episode? Nice sets and good filming EXCEPT it was very dark throughout, which didn't give a sense of impending doom, just poor lighting. I've never seen boring sex before. There is no tension in this pilot. Not in the tong wars, not in the sex, not in the fights. Sorry. Banshee this is NOT. Good luck.

Funny funny funny
20 September 2020
I don't understand the negative reviews. I am a 65-year-old feminist bi woman and found this to be quite funny. A day gone very bad. Far-fetched, but not so out of bounds, since how many folks really do step up and help anyone? In today's world folks tend to make snap decisions and walk away. Sad to say. This movie addressed this and one woman's issues stemming from it. Elizabeth Banks was great as was all the cast. I think the writer brought things full circle and while some have cited this picture saccharine and insulting to women, I fully disagree. I guess they have never had a day where EVERYTHING GOES SIDEWAYS. Well, good for You, folks, but cut the rest of the world a break. This is life & sometimes it is just the sticky end of the stick. My husband and I enjoyed this and will watch it again. If you like farce, then relax back and enjoy. Filming was spot on, dialogue so TODAY. GREAT JOB CAST & CREW. LOVED IT!

Intriguing and puzzling
20 September 2020
This movie has been sadly underrated by viewers. It is set at a pace designed to allow the audience to feel the intensity of the main character's loss and to identify with it. This is a humbling movie, one that causes the viewer to be introspective. It was not intended, IMHO, to ramp up the viewer, but instead to lead one down a path, forcing us to recognize that we, too, could one day deal with catastrophic loss that leaves one lost, trapped in confusion to the point of hallucination, self abuse and isolation. In the midst of this angst, there were moments of humor. Just like life. I felt the script was intense, intriguing, at times puzzling, though later my questions were answered. The acting was good. The filming was excellent. Tension held us through to the end. We both felt the ending was the weakest part. It needed just a bit more. I own this and will watch it again.

Will make you cry and be amazed
16 September 2020
Biopic of Dr Don Shirley & his driver Tony Vallelonga on the Shirley Trio's tour through the midwest & deep south. A well written, acted & filmed piece. Well worth watching. The music will bring calm to your soul. The pacing was spot on allowing for development of the relationship between our main characters. You will find yourself feeling the full gamut of emotions. The movie is especially relevant to these times.

Slightly slow but well acted
2 September 2020
This movie is really good. It is slightly slow but the script is strong, the acting believable, the filming is gorgeous and performances of the four main actors (Ted Levine as Sheriff Quinn, Brenton Thwaites as Sheriffs Deputy Norman Young, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Normans wife Frances & Ben Robson as Normans brother Ray) are dynamic. I have heard this called a sluggish new film noir. I disagree. I call it a cut of life with a salting of that which goes incredibly wrong. It is worth watching, it draws you in and holds you captive with its absorbing tale.
