Eden Lake (2008)

Welcome to England Circa 2008.

First: as a film. This film is a beautiful work, it is truly impressive, there are a few minor goofs but it is a fine film.

As an experience: Welcome to the mindset of the "Chav" that permeates our world. I am impressed by the frankness of this film, the young man portraying "brett" is fabulous and is so reminiscent of dozens of people you can see freely wandering around basking in their own glory. They are the lost ones who belong no where and think that they should have everything that they want simply because they want it.

The "Youths" portrayed in this film are shockingly well done and their interactions are so true to life it feels like looking into the real world. There is a single one who at some point chooses to refuse to go along with something and he is threatened with violence if he does not comply. Welcome to the real world.

Amazing. And don't get me started about the parents - So real it is scary.

A massive disappointment

I give this film 2stars and that is for a single, simple reason: It made me jump.

This is perhaps the worst cinema release that I have seen since Captivity in 2006... Actually scratch that, it is the worst. The whole film was an anticlimax from the beginning. The acting is OK for a College film maybe, but not for professional actors. Tyler turns in another lacklustre performance and Speedman is OK. The entire film is by numbers and there is not an original thought to be found in the massively excessive runtime, this film could have easily been done in an hour or, with a small amount of creativity or effort they could have made an interesting back-story that would have actually made me care about the characters. When things happen to the characters you simply do not care!

The whole film drags and while there is some suspense there are long periods where all we have for company is Tylers unconvincing whimpering and snotty nose.

All told, if you have time you NEED to kill and have nothing else of interest including going for a walk or calling your grandmother to do, go see it. But it is truthfully pants and not worth seeing.

Worth a look if you have literally nothing else to do for 90mins

This is not a great film, and certainly not a worthy sequel to the hysterical first film.

The lack of any other characters from the first is a killing blow to this film.

Its worth a look for the dog "ballsack" and for Taj. But otherwise its little more than giggle-worthy. Also, there is an incredible lack of research into real English society, This is the weakest Lampoon film i have ever seen.

But worth a look when you're free

Needed Ryan Reynolds.

Do not bother!!!

This film is the biggest pile of dross and waste of £4.25 that my senses have ever had the misfortune to suffer. it is literally an hour and a half of your life you would save by avoiding it. Throughout the entire film nothing happens! there is no plot, no real story. Just a bit of gore for the sake of it, some poorly constructed dialogue, terrible lighting and totally ridiculous characters.

This is yet another film that suffers from the post-Saw/Hostel rush to make a quick buck from ultra-gore. But this film suffers from a lack of what made the two above good: A Story.

Seriously my people, do not waste your life on this, it is totally lame, utterly predictable and all the "torture" is just used for shock, with no value in the film.

1Star is too good for this i have seen better Dmovies
