The Forgotten (2004)
Unoriginal, uninteresting, 'unmakeable'
Just got done watching this movie, transparent the whole way through. Couldn't have cared less for the plot or characters, dialogue was wretched. As one can guess for a movie like this, it was full of plot holes.
A poor example even for the old 'switcheroo' genre a la sixth sense, the others, etc.
Dull to the very end.
OK, fine, there were a couple of neat things to SEE, but that's it.
Home (2004)
Fine use of Digital Video
Narendra Ghimire puts the marginal medium of digital video to the fullest extent of its potential in his 7 minute short, 'Home'.
In limited time and budget, he fully utilizes some of the core elements of movie making: writing, meaning, performance, subtlety and texture, all in the digital format to make a short movie worth watching.
It takes a rare talent to make a video movie worthy of being called a film, but I think Ghimire and 'Home' have warranted the honor.
After-School Special (2004)
Fair representation of the "junior high condition"
I saw this film at the Fargo Film Festival in 2004. The writing and cinematography was of the best I've seen for this level of filmmaking. I look forward to seeing more work from the people involved with the creation of this film. In particular I found that the plot of this movie was taking it in a direction that needed 35-45 minutes of screen time to tell. The first 50% of the story is exquisite, whereas the last 25% seems to be in a hurry to finish up. Perhaps time and budget restraints were the cause of this. It was enjoyable nonetheless
