Die Hard 2 (1990)
Fun sequel, but doesn't beat the first movie
I found the movie to be fun, but isn't great compared to the first movie. The story is somewhat similar to the first movie instead of taking place on an airport. It goes through the same things like the previous movie and isn't that memorable. The highlight are the action scenes which are enjoyable to watch with the amount of suspense and tension to be found in the movie. It is fun to watch the character fighting against the villain and him trying to survive or save people. It also contains pretty good explosion to be found in it. Bruce Willis is still a great actor with his charisma and humor he has throughout the movie. I found the new characters aren't that good compared to the previous movie because most of them are somewhat similar to the one from the first movie and isn't that interesting. Even the villains aren't that memorable compare to the first movie villains.
Overall, it's a fun sequel to watch with a couple of people.
Speed (1994)
Fun action movie I have watched
I have a lot of fun watching the movie throughout. The story is interesting on how the main character trying to save people on the bus due to a bomb on it. There also some runs like how he has to keep the bus speed over fifty and don't let anyone off the bus. I like the opening by showing how the main character do his job by saving people on a elevator. The movie is build up really well by him discovering the villain is still alive and him trying to get onto the bus. It contain a lot of great action scene with impressive stunts from the characters and even the bus has good stunts onto it. The movie contains great cinematography to itself on making the movie suspenseful and intense on the situation the characters are in. Also, it contains great actors in the movie like Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper, & Sandra Bullock. The movie contains a lot of destruction which looks pretty impressive and shows the danger the characters are in.
Overall, its a fun movie.
Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)
Try something new, but the results is pretty bad
I didn't like this movie and it wasn't fun at all. The story is different, with two brothers entering into a modern setting where the younger brother is starting the cult again. I give credit that it does something different compared to the previous movies, but it's not that good. It feels like current scenes felt rushed like Eli gaining a cult pretty quickly and how he has powers for some reason without any build-up. The movie contains a couple of bizarre stuff that happened, but isn't that outstanding or memorable. Also, there's a couple of side plots that go nowhere interesting, like William Porter wants to ship the corn to other countries. The climax itself is decent on what happened during it, but the way it ends is anticlimactic. None of the characters stand out from the rest and are pretty bland. The effects range from decent to looking pretty bad, like the face melting just looks awkward. The best effects come from the climax, which looks pretty impressive, but no spoilers.
Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992)
The only enjoyable movie in the franchise
I found this more entertaining than the first movie. The story is kind of similar to the first movie with a couple of differences, like a reporter investigating the recent events and the cult killing the adults in the town. I found the investigating plotline to be a mixed bag with him learning more about the supernatural elements of the movie, but isn't that flesh-out. The movie contains a couple of bizarre moments that are interesting and unique to see over how it is different compared to the previous movie. There's also a couple of side plots that go nowhere interesting. The climax itself is pretty decent on the suspense that happens and how bizarre it gets towards the end of it.
Children of the Corn (1984)
Falls into the middle of Stephen King movies
I found this to be a decent adaptation of the novel. The story is interesting with children who listen to Issac about "He Who Walks Behind the Rows" and do things that he told them to do. It's interesting to learn about what Issac preach to the kids and the stuff they do throughout the movie. The movie has an eerie vibe to it with its abandoned places that the children overrun and the atmosphere pretty well with the tone it is going for. Unfortunately, the scenes with the couple aren't that interesting because they are mostly them wandering around current places of the town and encountering cheap jump scares. I kind of wish we could see more of Issac and the group and expand on them. The climax itself is both bizarre and gets pretty ridiculous on what happened during it. But the movie ends abruptly with it, which is disappointing.
Isaac Chroner is the main villain of the movie, who is the leader of the cult, and got them to do his dirty work for the things he said to them. He easily said the best character in the movie with the dialogue he said throughout the movie and how he threatened the tasks he gave to the kids. John Franklin does a great job playing as the character with the performance he gives out throughout the movie.
Lethal Weapon (1987)
Buddy cop movie that has charm to it
I found this to be a pretty enjoyable movie. While the story is your standard buddy cop movie, I really like the relationship between the two main characters of the movie. It shows how both of them are different compared to each others and the way they do their jobs. The movie is build up with their relationship on how first they don't like each others, but soon grows a friendship with each others. The acting from Gibson and Glover are great on how their performance and giving the characters depth in the movie. Also, the movie contains pretty entertaining action scenes that are suspenseful and fun to watch. As for the comedy, that part I have mixed thoughts about. While there are a couple of funny moments, I didn't know what type of comedy its going for on how most of the movie is serious.
Overall, its a fun movie.
The Changeling (1980)
Atmospheric and Effective horror movie
I found this to be a pretty effective and interesting supernatural horror movie. While the story is your standard haunted mansion, I really do like the whole mystery over the ghost who haunted this mansion. The movie builds up really well with the supernatural starting to happened and the main character discovers the truth behind something. It's interesting to learn about the stuff that he finds throughout the movie and the truth behind a current family. The movie does have an effective atmosphere with its sound designed and tension during the supernatural scenes throughout. And the revealed of the movie is pretty interesting and has a suspenseful climax to it.
Men in Black (1997)
Fun and entertaining movie that have a charm to it
I have fun watching this movie throughout. The story is interesting with a cop joins the Men in Black who deal with aliens who roam around Earth. I found the movie to be entertaining with the idea that is executed really well with the amount of humor and action that happen in it. I really like the different types of aliens that we see throughout the movie and the design of them are pretty creative and detail. The relationship between Agent K & Agent J is really great on how each one of them plays the polar opposite of the more experience one and the rookie. Both Tommy Lee Jones and William Smith does a great job with their performance they play in the movie and does a great job with the chemistry between them. Also, the movie has enjoyable action scenes that has tension to them and is fun to watch those scenes.
Overall, it's a fun movie.
Atomic Twister (2002)
Somewhat enjoyable TV disaster movie
I found this to be a enjoyable bad disaster movie. The movie combines both tornados and nuclear meltdown together the results is a complete mess. There are so many plotlines that goes on in the movie that makes the movie hard to figure out which direction its going for. Also, each one of them is easily predictable to know how they will turn out and isn't that surprising at all. Even the characters themselves are rather generic and bland throughout the movie. I also have questions on if the decisions they made in the movie is possible or not because this movie doesn't do a good job with realism. But the disaster scenes to be enjoyable on the amount of tension that goes into it, even though the effects aren't that impressive. The plot could have work, but its not that executed well.
Overall its enjoyable, but far from a good movie.
Swamp Devil (2008)
Interesting monster choice, but flat movie.
This is a really flat movie that I have seen, but it's not the worst in the series. There's not that much to the story because not that happened other than the characters are hunting for someone and discovered a truth. The whole plotline about the father accused of murder ended pretty quickly because the movie shows the monster pretty early, so we already know that his not the murderer. Most of the movie isn't that interesting to watch because there's little interesting ideas to be found in this movie and is really dull for most of the time. The scenes with the creature aren't that exciting because he doesn't do that much other than shooting vines at his victims and twisting with it. It is really obvious what it is. The climax itself is underwhelming, and I didn't like how the movie ended. I do think it's interesting to have a swamp creature as the villain because movies rarely use it. The creature does have a unique design on it, but the CGI doesn't look impressive at all. There's also a backstory to it, but I wish it was flesh-out more to be interesting and have more details to it.
Pacific Rim (2013)
Mindless fun Robot vs. Kaiju movie
I have fun watching this movie throughout and is really entertaining. The idea is awesome with characters use big robots to fight against kaiju. I really love how they come up with the idea of it and it was executed really well. It really show how much work the filmmakers up into this movie like the script, visual effects and the action scenes. The action scenes are a highlight of the movie with the Jaegers fighting against the kaiju and we see the different types of weapons it have in it. Also, the visual effects looks amazing with the amount of details they put onto the kaiju and Jaegers that looks awesome. The characters themselves has depth to them and are pretty interesting to learn about throughout the movie. And the acting is also done really well too.
Overall, it's a fun movie that is entertaining to watch.
Abigail (2024)
Fun and Entertaining vampire horror movie
I found this to be a really entertaining movie. The story is mostly simple, with a couple of kidnappers having to watch this little girl who turns out not to be. It's definitely not the strongest aspect of the movie, but there is a twist that is pretty interesting on what it is. The strongest aspect is the entertainment value that is pretty fun to watch a little girl vampire in a ballerina outfit attacking the characters. It shows how the movie is enjoyable to watch if it doesn't take itself that seriously. The movie contains a couple of suspenseful scenes with the characters trying to survive against her, and the climax has good choreography to itself. I also like how the movie pays homage to the Dracula movie from the past, and I like how they play Swan Lake music during parts of the movie. The only other flaw is near the climax, which is one part that switches itself. No spoilers, but I have mixed thoughts over it.
Tornado! (1996)
Poor man version of Twister
I found this to be mostly bland and not that enjoyable to watch. The story is similar to Twister with storm chasers trying to use this deceive to study tornados. It's somewhat similar, but is completely different. Most of the movie is either expedition dialogue and character relationship throughout. I get the movie try to build up relationship with the characters. But its rather predictable with the outcome of it. I'm surprise that Bruce Campbell is in this movie and he does a pretty good job in the movie. But the characters aren't that interesting at all and are rather generic. Even the dialogue is rather generic for this type of movie. The disaster scenes are barely there because it happen pretty quickly to have any tension to itself and isn't that terrifying at all. There is a climax that is similar to the Twister one and is fine for the most part.
Tornado! Is a forgettable disaster movie that isn't enjoyable at all.
Machete Kills (2013)
Fun, but gets too farfetch
I do think the movie is entertaining, but it gets too ridiculous. The story seems to be simple with Machete goes to look for someone to stop a missile from launching. But things changes when he reach Mexico. While the movie is fun and bizarre to see the changes it does compared to the previous movie. It just gets too ridiculous over the stuff that happen in the movie that it feels like a different movie. But the movie does contain really fun action scenes in it that is worth watching and have tension goes into it. The characters themselves are a hit or miss with the main character still as great as ever. As for the new characters, some of them has moments in the movie, but some don't appear that much or disappear later on in the movie. And the acting is done pretty well.
Overall, it's a fun sequel, but the first movie is better.
Kill Command (2016)
Great effects and action scenes, but weak story
I found this to be an average science-fiction horror movie that I have seen. The story is pretty standard, with a couple of marines going against robots that something went wrong with them. It's rather predictable to guess what happened next and mostly goes through the same tropes like any type of movie. One thing the movie adds is a cyborg who discovered a reprogramming anomaly regarding a warfare A. I. system and how she is able to control current robots. It's interesting to learn about her and the functions she has throughout the movie. One strong aspect of the movie is the action scenes, which are pretty entertaining. It is fun to watch the Marines fight against the robots with the amount of suspense and tension that happened during it. Also, I like to see the robots different types of weapons it have onto them and the different variety of them. But the ending itself is pretty weak.
I found the characters to be pretty weak in this movie because their mostly one-dimensional and lack any interesting traits to them. Another strong aspect of the movie is the visual effects. I love each of the robots' design on how much work they put onto them. Each one of them have a lot of details on them and is creative on how each one of them functions. Also, the movie contains pretty good explosions to be found in it and the robot destruction.
The Concorde... Airport '79 (1979)
Watchable, but wasn't that good
I found the last movie in the Airport series to be fun, but rather weak. The plot is mostly some bad guys trying to take down this plane for a current reason. I have little to say about this movie because it not told that well throughout and isn't that interesting at all. My biggest problem of the movie is that it feel like it too long because it feels like it dragging itself throughout and it gets dull outside of the plane action. As for the airplane action, it somewhat enjoyable with the pilots trying to avoid the drone from hitting the airplane and its freighting to be on the airplane during this time. But it gets pretty ridiculous on the execution of it. The only disaster part is the climax which is suspenseful and have tension during it. And the special effects are a hit or miss.
Overall, Its kind of bland for the most part, but isn't a bad movie.
Who Killed Captain Alex? (2010)
Entertaining so bad it's good movie
This is one of the example of a movie that you don't take seriously. It really shows the passion on how the filmmakers made this movie and the amount of effort they put into it. The movie have a bunch of enjoyable action scenes with great choreography fight scenes and is pretty entertaining to watch it throughout. It shows how much work they put into each of these action scenes and is great on how they did it. The visual effects are another thing to talk about, but it works with the campy nature the movie have in it. And the story itself is all over the place and is hard to follow. Also, the movie use a lot of narration throughout that has a couple of funny lines in it.
Overall, it's a movie that you need to turn off your brain and have fun with it.
Thir13en Ghosts (2001)
Unique type of movie that could have a spin-off
I found this to be a pretty good supernatural horror movie that is underrated. The story is interesting to learn about the house in which the family is inherent and the truth behind it. I like the explanation over the house layer out and how it trapped ghosts in it. It's interesting to learn about each type of ghost throughout the movie, but some of them rarely appear that much to learn about. The movie has an eerie vibe to it with it different spirits inside the house and how the characters can only see the ghost with a unique type of glass. It also have a couple of suspenseful scenes with the characters trying to survive against the spirits, which shows how dangerous they are when you first see them. Even though I wish we get to learn more about the ghosts and their unique traits.
The actual plot isn't that impressive, with the father trying to protect and looking for his kids throughout the movie. Also, it gets pretty predictable with the different situations the characters are in and the reveal of current things. The characters aren't that good at all and are pretty forgettable. With the exception of one who I won't spoiler. The best part of the movie is the special effects of the movie. I love the house design on how unique it is with its design and style to it. It's interesting to see that it has been seen through glass throughout the house with Latin text on it and what the purpose of it is. I also like the amount of details they put for each room for the house, and they work so hard to make this great set piece.
Another great part of the movie is the ghosts in the movie. I really love the makeup effects on each of the ghosts on the amount of details they put onto them and how each one of them have a unique style to them. They are also pretty memorable with the type of stuff they do in the movie and how dangerous they are.
Return to House on Haunted Hill (2007)
Unnecessary sequel to the first movie.
I don't know why there is a sequel to the 1999 movie because this movie isn't that good. The story feels like a rehash of the first movie with the characters getting trapped inside the place, and each character gets killed off one by one. One plotline they added is the characters looking for an idol for an obvious reason. While there's an explanation on why the idol is there, I don't think it is worth getting because of the previous incident from the first movie. The movie does add more rooms that make it interesting but not memorable compared to the previous movie. Also, it uses mostly cheap jump scares throughout and is pretty predictable to guess. The movie also shows flashbacks of the patients that have an eerie vibe to it and have good style to it. And climax itself is underwhelming and not suspenseful at all. None of the characters are that interesting or good to root for throughout the movie. Also, Sara Wolfe from the first movie was killed off-screen at the beginning, and the sequel never said what happened to Eddie. One thing the movie is different compared to the first movie is that it's pretty graphic. There's a couple of graphic deaths in the movie, like one of the henchmen gets torn apart, and one of them get their face cut off. The special effects are a mixed bag with the practical gore effects looks pretty good, but the CGI looks really bad in some parts of the deaths and some of the ghosts. The setting isn't impressive compared to the first movie, but some rooms have decent details on it.
Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001)
Watchable, but is the weakest in the series.
I found the movie to be fun, but isn't that memorable compared to the previous movies. The story feels like a rehash of the first movie with the main character going to a place he never been and discovered something new. It mostly goes through the same thing like the previous movie with a few differences. The comedy itself is a hit or miss with a few charming jokes to be found, but some of it doesn't age well. I found the two returning characters to be mostly the same with little development to them, but are still likable throughout. The new characters aren't really that interesting and I don't know they the movie included a son in it because he have little to do with the plot of the movie. Also, there a minor plot that feels like it was added in the last minute and isn't that interesting at all. The climax itself is pretty entertaining to watch on what happen during it.
Overall, it's watchable, but is the weakest in the series.
Alien (1979)
Classic Alien Movie
This is definitely a classic horror movie ever. The story itself is done really well and is interesting with a crew discovered an alien species that they found. It builds up really well with introducing the characters and the reveal of the alien creature. The movie feels like a haunted house in outer space with its isolated environment and the atmosphere tone that the movie presented here that is really effective. It is also pretty creepy to be in outer space with a creature inside the same environment of you, and there is no way out. I found the movie to be suspenseful and creepy when the alien shows up and how it poses a deadly threat towards the characters. And the climax itself is suspenseful and intense. Ellen Ripley is a warrant officer and is one of the most popular final girls in any horror movie out there. I really like the character on how she is pretty smart throughout the movie and is brave enough to survive against the creature. She is a really memorable character with her personality and performance by Sigourney Weaver, who does an amazing job as the character. The other characters are also done really well by each of their personality and traits throughout the movie. Also, Ash has an interesting twist to him that is interesting and unique. And the actors do a great job in this movie. I found the special effects to be done really well in this movie. I love the alien creature design in the movie with its interesting design and how terrifying the creature is. It contains pretty good details onto it and is a memorable villain throughout the movie. The chest bursting scene is really memorable on how they did the effects of it and how it's unexpected on the execution of it. I also like the set designed of the Nostromo with the amount of details from the inside and how much work the filmmakers put into it. Even the spaceship is pretty cool looking and design really well.
Airport '77 (1977)
Found it to be pretty enjoyable.
I have fun watching this movie throughout. The movie more tension compared to the previous movie with the plane sinking down into the ocean and the characters trying to figured out how to survive. It cause by some art thief who trying to steal some art works on the plane. The whole art thief plotline ends quickly and isn't that interesting at all. Now, the characters come up with some good plans on trying to survive and figured out how to escape from the airplane before they lose oxygen or the water come in. The characters themselves are one note and isn't that interesting at all. I have questions on if its possible on how they save the people in the sunken airplane and there are some flaws with it.
I found the disaster to be done pretty good on the tension that goes in it with the plane crashes into the ocean and the flooding scenes inside the airplane is done pretty good on how they did the effects of it. It also has good set designed of the inside of the plane and how they did the flood scenes in it.
Overall, it's a fun disaster movie.
Kaijû daisensô (1965)
Good Godzilla movie that falls into the middle of the rest of the movie.
I found this to be a pretty good movie in the series. The story itself is decent with two astronauts goes to a planet and discovered aliens that need their help over dealing with King Ghidorah. While I found that plotline to be predictable on the aliens real motive, it's still interesting watch on how the humans stop them from invading their planet. The movie a couple of good set designed of the alien planet and inside of their base which is interesting and creative to see. Also, the movie contains really good miniatures destruction you see at the climax of the movie. The monster fight is pretty fun to see Godzilla and Rodan fight against Ghidorah in outer space and the final fight is fun to watch too. I found most of the human characters to be pretty bland and the aliens are rather generic.
Overall, it's a fun movie to watch.
Storm Warning (2007)
Decent movie that is brutal and gory.
I found this to be a decent Australian horror movie that I have seen. The story is pretty weak, with a couple getting torment by rednecks when they come across their house. It's predictable to guess what happened next and not anything too interesting. But I do like the psychological horrors of the rednecks mental abuse of the couples by forcing them to do stuff they don't want to and gets pretty uncomfortable to view it. I do like how later on, the couple decides to fight back against the villains and make some good decisions during those scenes. The movie gets somewhat suspenseful, with the characters trying to hide and flee from the villains, even though it doesn't last that long. And I like how the movie ends.
Earthquake in New York (1998)
Not bad, but not good.
While it's not the worst disaster movie I seen, but it still not good. There barely any story in this other people trying to survive a earthquake and saving people. The opening is something that I didn't see coming over what happen, but the whole topic about losing someone due to a disaster feels like a afterthought and isn't expand on that much. Also, some of the plotlines feels like it was forgotten like the serial killer plotline doesn't go anywhere interesting and ends very quickly. Even the Statue of Library disaster is barely in the movie and is forgotten about until near the end of the movie. The characters themselves are rather boring and bland throughout the movie. And the acting itself is pretty stale.
The disaster scenes are mostly ok with decent tension during it and some alright disaster set pieces. But the CGI looks pretty bad and is something from a PlayStation 2 game.
Overall, it's a mediocre disaster movie that is poorly put together.
