Ahsoka (2023)
They Obviously Took Grogu's Jedi/Mandalorian Storyline And Gave It To Sabine. Pathetic. It's Disney Star Wars, So I'm Not Surprised.
They obviously scrapped the Grogu Jedi/Mandalorian storyline and gave it to Sabine, a purple haired brat played by a wooden actress, who doesn't resemble the Sabine from Rebels whatsoever. Now I can see why Luke gave Grogu back to Din right away, which killed the future story of The Mandalorian as well as the first 2 Seasons, which were both fantastic imo. Besides that, let's just talk about all of the other cons. Ahsoka was bland and forgettable, and didn't resemble Ahsoka from The Clone Wars and Rebels. Her trying to be Gandalf, in my opinion the greatest character ever created, was a big L. She just changed clothes. Her dull and arms crossed personality barely changed. Nothing against Rosario, who I do think is a great actress, but they should've cast someone with martial arts and skilled lightsaber choreography. Similar to Ray Park as Maul, who was just phenomenal. And the writing and dialogue for Ahsoka's character was just so bad. The lightsaber choreography in this show was abysmal, just like all of Disney Star Wars. Ezra was nerfed into oblivion, and was just like a pathetic cheerleader for Sabine and Ahsoka. It's Disney. No surprise there. They turned Thrawn into a complete imbecile. A couple of my friends who are huge Heir to the Empire fans couldn't even finish the finale, because of what they've done to Thrawn. And the worst of all of it, Sabine. Sabine force pushing Ezra like a Patrick Mahomes thrown football almost cringed me out of my seat. This Sabine Jedi storyline is only going to get worse and worse, and I'm sensing a Rey Skywalker 2.0 with her. Sabine honestly killed any hope that I had left for this show. I'll give a few points for a few great things. Ray Stevenson as Baylon Skoll was phenomenal. Bless you Ray. What an amazing actor and fantastic human being. Rest in Paradise sir. Hayden Christensen did an incredible job as Anakin. Episode 5 was terrific, but the rest of the show was a complete mess. Baylon and Shin were by far the most interesting characters in the show, and they of course had no dialogue in the freaking finale. Just pathetic. The music was great, but that can't save poor and lousy writing and storytelling. I'll give the show a 5/10. Besides the first 2 Seasons of The Mandalorian and Andor, Disney Star Wars has been a huge mess lately. Besides Season 2 of Andor, I can't say that I'm looking forward to any other Disney Star Wars content. Maybe Season 3 of The Bad Batch, but that series is a mixed bag. There needs to be some major changes, and that starts with finally firing Kathleen Kennedy.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 24: The Return (2023)
Should've Ended The Show At The Season 2 Finale. The Magic is Gone.
How the heck did we go from Season 2, which in my option was a masterpiece, to this? The writing, choreography, and quality have dropped so much. There were no "spies", which completely made the title of the last Chapter pointless. No Boba, which is a huge L, considering that he's the OG who started all of the Mandalorian lore and culture in Star Wars and still wears the Mythosaur and Jaster Mereel symbols on his armor, Bo Katan of course rescued Din again for like the 4th time this Season, no more Darksaber, they wasted and killed off Gideon, an amazing actor and villain who had so much more potential, nobody rides the Mythosaur, etc. I can go on and on. BOBF and Kenobi were both mid and underwhelming, but at least they still had some redeeming and memorable scenes and episodes at times. Season 3 of The Mandalorian was Sequel Trilogy bad, and Kathleen Kennedy obviously has her corrupt hands all over this once incredible show now. There's a reason why it has a 49% fan rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm really hoping that Ahsoka turns things around, because Disney Star Wars is finished if it doesn't. Also, please give Boba Fett's character to someone like Tony Gilroy instead. Andor felt like something off of HBO while Season 3 of The Mandalorian felt like something off of the Disney Channel. SMH.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 22: Guns for Hire (2023)
How Did They Go From Season 2 To This?
Big rant incoming. This was by far the worst episode of Star Wars yet imo! Worse than the Book of Boba biker gang episode. Even worse than Episode 4 of Kenobi. What in the Galaxy happened to Star Wars after Season 2 of The Mandalorian? The quality is now terrible, the acting and dialogue is bizarre, the aesthetic looks so low budget and cheap, and the action scenes are horrendous and look like they came out of freaking Power Rangers. That fight between Axe Woves and Bo Katan was by far the worst and cheapest looking fight ever in Star Wars. How did they even let that go by after filming it? It's absolutely laughable. Look at the incredible fight between Jango Fett and Kenobi on Kamino, and then look at this pathetic fight. That was over 20 years ago, and it blows this out of the water. Everything looks so cheap looking, and the writing has become atrocious. Ben Burtt's phenomenal sound design is also greatly missed. Also, they completely wasted Christopher Lloyd and Jack Black. How do you go from that incredible episode with Bill Burr to this? What a joke! The Mandalorians are portrayed absolutely terribly in this season. Was hoping for a ton of Mandalorian lore and history with flashbacks of iconic characters like Jango, Jaster, and the True Mandalorians, but no. We have a bunch of cosplayer extras wearing spray painted Boba Fett and Hasbro helmets who can't act, don't know how to use their gear, and make the Mandalorians look like a bunch of inept and incompetent imbeciles. And to end it, Bo Katan is Kathleen Kennedy's next Rey Skywalker. Din received the Boba treatment and is now just a sidekick in his own show. Kathleen Kennedy is at it again. Disney and Kennedy somehow managed to screw up a phenomenal show, and I don't trust Disney at all anymore with Star Wars. I'm just praying that Ahsoka turns out good, but man, it's rough being a Star Wars fan right now. I still love Filoni's animated content, but man, I don't know what happened behind the scenes after Season 2 of The Mandalorian ended, but it completely ruined the show. They should've just ended the series at the Season 2 finale. It was the perfect ending to a perfect season. Rant over.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 21: The Pirate (2023)
A Step Up but Something Still Feels Off.
This Chapter is definitely a step up from the other ones in Season 3, but something stills feels off with the quality and the writing compared to Seasons 1 and 2. Din's whole storyline the past 1-2 years was to go to Mandalore to "purify" himself after taking off his helmet, but now it's perfectly fine for Bo Katan to right after? The Mandalorians so far still feel more like Disneyfied Power Rangers who don't know how to use their gear. Apparently, there's only like 30-40 civilians living at Nevarro with Greef Karga? Had this same issue with Mos Espa in The Book of Boba Fett. Hire more extras! Make these places feel bigger! Din has officially received the Boba Fett treatment, and is being sidelined. I'm not sure if it was from the incredible HBO quality from Andor, but this season has felt pretty cheap and low budget at times. Just like The Book of Boba Fett and Kenobi. I am happy that the pacing is picking up and that we're going to see Gideon soon. Also loved the Rebels cameo. He looks incredible in live-action, and it really has me hyped for the upcoming Ahsoka series. Also really enjoyed the nice little tribute to the late Mr. Jeremy Bulloch aka the OG trilogy Boba Fett. "Bulloch Canyon" Overall, it is a step up from the past few Chapters, but something still feels off. I have been a huge fan of Bryce Dallas Howard's episodes, so I am very optimistic for next week's Chapter.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 20: The Foundling (2023)
They should've ended the series with the Season 2 finale.
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian brought my love for Star Wars back. Season 2 felt like a fireworks show, with each chapter getting better and better with a grand finale. I don't know what happened after, but from the start of The Book of Boba Fett to Kenobi to Season 3 of The Mandalorian, the quality, the writing, and the greatness of the first 2 Seasons of The Mandalorian have gone away. I was so hyped for the Mandalorian lore in this season, but it's been portrayed terribly. These cosplay Mandalorian extras with spray painted Boba Fett helmets and armor make the Mandalorians look like imbeciles. I was hoping that the Mandalorians would be similar to Jango Fett, Jaster Mereel, the True Mandalorians from the Open Seasons comic books, Gar Saxon, Pre Vizsla, etc. Real Mandalorian warriors who were smart, intimidating, leaders, and actually knew how to use their gear and surroundings. These Mandalorians are like a bunch of inept and incompetent Power Rangers. They remind me of that terrible biker gang from The Book of Boba Fett. So far, Season 3 has felt like something off of the Disney Channel. Grogu does something cute, the Mandalorians fight another creature, Din Djarin plays sidekick to Bo Katan, rinse and repeat. Halfway through, and there's no direction at all. It's just making the decision to bring Grogu back right away look worse and worse. It's getting to the point where they should've finished the series with the Season 2 finale. It was perfection, and now it's being stained. I'm really hoping that it gets better with these last 4 episodes.
