The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Alloyed (2022)
100% waste of time
Everything came to this and this could have been the first episode.
What a purely waste of time this series has been.
Everyone guessed that Halbrand was Sauron before the show even started and that the fallen guy was Gandalf and not Sauron but they went with a misdirect.
Nazguls are now woman because why not. The 'not hobbit' Lenny is killed, no one seemed to care as the 'not hobbits' are evil.
Teleporting happens all over the place again.
Ships are a day away. Sauron walks to Mordor in a morning or to a green screen. Bad CGI added, after they make the rings that Sauron wanted and everyone knows he is a liar and they do it because he convinced them by explaining a master grafter what an alloy is.
I watched season 1 for the ridiculousness of it but just don't care about the groups, characters or whatever writing they got school kids to write.
This is clearly a way for people to get money out of someone.
House of the Dragon: The Lord of the Tides (2022)
Give the King a hand.
This is the best episode so far but I really don't want to give a 10 as that is for one or two things ever.
The King is just such a great character or is it that the actor is so good at playing the tragic optimist. Every step he makes hurt and every smile and glimmer of hope in his eyes also hurt, knowing what has happened and what is to come.
Matt was again at his best. One eye, because names aren't important, is bound to be a great rival of Matt Smiths. A bit of Blonde on blonde action.
The Queens used all their manipulation and power to push and set the stage for, what I assume will be a great conflict but the current Queen is clearly a terrible mother. Her, girl exploiting son is truly awful.
All the other kids were just there but the way that a simple smile can turn a dinner scene into a future conflict, that's good writing.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Udûn (2022)
Declined?
First 10 minutes is the best of the series but they acted like the story had advanced to that point. At least the Elf gave a rousing speech.
The fact they said a village was a defensible position, which looked like it was in a valley with zero walls or defenses, which is ridiculous. They had the tower. An Orc attacked the elf and did the "I got you so I throw you away" "Got you again and threw you away again" "Got you, throw you away". No one fights like that.
Time lines don't match.
Horses charge to the village which looked like it is in a valley from the sea? These south lands are a long journey inland right or are these people coastal without thew ships? They have GPS satellites, makes no sense. Also pretty sure armor shouldn't be plastic.
Rick and Morty: Night Family (2022)
sitcom
I remember when this was wacky, had interesting and crazy events and stories that lead to something special.
It seems to just be a sitcom with an interesting twist but a sitcom all the same.
The writing is just lazy or there are no interesting things left to write about.
Perhaps the show should have ended so they could have made something new based off it. The sitcom show that has Rick come in every so often to set it up.
Rick and Morty is in the name and that is what made it good.
The family are meant to be bit players.
Just a sad tragic development of something that had people talking.
Get new writers maybe?
The Simpsons: Habeas Tortoise (2022)
Last one
The last season final was awful, with its song and dance about one side being bad and the other side being good. We all know what sides I am talking about and the fact you would, shows how poorly written things are now. I gave this one last chance but it failed miserably.
After 30 years I'm out.
The Simpsons used to just be overly formulaic but now it is overly formulaic and anti anything mainstream media and politicians say is wrong.
The show seems to be this. If you agree with anything Lisa would believe, then you are good and on the right side of, whatever the writers think. If you don't, you are an uncultured and naive buffoon.
A fall that has gone splat on the ground.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: My Moon My Man (2022)
could it end another way?
Saw the first and hoped it would earn a 7.
Could be a 10 but nothing is perfect if you are honest.
Through the series characters were introduced and ended in a Night City way.
What happens makes sense and suits the world.
The powers are extreme but they have to be as the end goal, as well as smasher being there made it so they had to be.
Could see a second series based off Falco as a fixer and Lucy the information gatherer. Would David actually be a mech as Smasher said he could be? Araska wouldn't just let him die if they could control and use him. Can Flaco and Lucy break him free or will everyone be doomed. I would guess everyone would be doomed, with David somehow killing Lucy, without knowing who she is as he is mindless.
A depressing world deserves depressing, interesting and realistic stories.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: Let You Down (2022)
I played the game
The sounds, lights and even the apartment, where just as the game so I am going to give it a good mark just because of that.
Story wise, street rat down on luck, cliche but that is fine.
Do I want to see the next episode.
Yes.
Have I seen it yet.
No.
What happens in the episode is what you could easily imagine happening in cyberpunk 2077 and any story for that matter.
I would say it is a 5 out of 10 at the moment and +2 because of all the game imagery.
I really hope it will earn that 7 or more.
Some of the voice actors are legends in the game or 5e game.... so you would hope they are in it for the right reasons.
House of the Dragon: King of the Narrow Sea (2022)
It is good
Every episode so far I have wondered if it will season 8 itself.
So far so good. In fact it keeps getting better.
The writing and players of the story is intriguing. The historical look is on point, with the political plotting. There has been so many crumbs added that you know what might come in the future.
I expect absolute chaos and death but I know why and I'm here for it.
Go the ... no go that... maybe him... no she is better....
If it continues in this vain then all will be good.
The jump forward in time and change of actors will be a shock in the first 10 or so minutes if written well but if poorly done then I would assume the episode will be a bad start to the ending
Lets pretend season 8 never happened.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Adar (2022)
better than 1 and 2?
Better than 1 and 2 but that isn't saying much at all and the bad is even worse.
The hobbits are even worse than before and I thought maybe they might be Okay. Oh how wrong I was. I love how they just let people die in their travels. They picked that idea up from Galadriel. Why do you write people to just leave the weak to die.
Speaking of Galadriel, how can she be more awful? Here is episode 3 and she is more awful. The great leader and she treats leaders of a city with disdain and threatens to kill them? In front of hundreds? Wearing only a night gown? I know she can kill trolls in one swipe but hundreds of people might be an ask, even for the greatest of all time. Oh and now the man is the King of Men. So we have the LOTRs story arc there.
To juxtapose this destroyer of all, we have the other elves. Captured and when they try to escape, a worg immediately tears one apart. The elves clearly spent all their time training only one elf and decided to let the others sit around and clap while Galadriel did so.
No dwarfs. Probably a good thing as you don't need to constantly change areas, especially when telling any sort of story in 'normal' time restraints, is beyond the writers.
It will only be a matter of time before we get a tortured soul that wants something real bad, like something precious.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: A Shadow of the Past (2022)
The more you watch the worse it gets
Watched once then looked over it again.
Would be great if the characters were likeable. Who says to leave behind someone in trouble? A monster and villain, that is who.
When you write a main character that can do everything themselves from fighting, knowing everything because, why not, able to swim an ocean because, why not has disdain for everyone around them because why not, you either have bad writers or you are actually wanting to make this fail.
Trolls are now a weak thing that takes only a few strikes to kill, with disdain of course, from the dues ex machina elf.
The dark elf is they only interesting elf.
The dwarfs seem fine. Woman don't have beards but it is only "based on the works of Tolkien".
The hobbits are hobbits as this is "based on the works of Tolkien".
Can't wait for so many of the characters to be wiped out. Will be interesting how they kill off the diverse characters they added to then be killed.
One star for the elf of color and another star for his lady friend and son.
The rest should just take a hike to another land, instantly and then walk all the way back. Teleporting ships and characters equals bad writing.
