La abuela (2021)
Suitable for those who like this style
The setting and photography are beautiful, but the story line is a little more monolithic. If you watch the movie at 1.25 times the speed, it may be more able to drive the movement of horror elements. It's like a certain episode of Supernatural, where the evil spirit or the witch is the premise. If you like this kind of story, you can probably ignore the story and enjoy the interior scenes and arrangements of the nineteenth-century rich-style apartment alone. Although there are many stereotypes, the terrifying atmosphere is still scary, interspersed with stunning ladies' figures, which are very elegant contrasts. I love this part.
Feng kuang de shi tou (2006)
Great movie, but maybe not for everyone
I don't think a lot of people can understand this type of film because it does require a good understanding of the language and culture of the region to get to the core of it, to be amused by the story, to appreciate the pictures and the music. In this film It not only requires you to know Mandarin, but also requires you to have a certain understanding of the southern dialect and northern dialect, so that you can fully feel the humor set in it. And you have to be someone who has experienced social changes in the 1990s, otherwise there are a lot of interesting things that you can't understand. You have to see the world at least from an Asian POV, or you won't be able to understand the irony. Etc., etc. It was like the first time I saw a French comedy film and had absolutely no idea what everyone was talking about.
You Won't Be Alone (2022)
Poetic, but a bit verbose
This movie actually makes me feel like it really describes a person's life, or in particular, a woman's life. There are many metaphors that describe human life at first, because men and women are the same before the appearance of secondary sexual characteristics. It then describes the life of a woman, with the main job of nurturing and nurturing offspring, and then life as a human being. It's very poetic, and I love what it says about semiotics. The movie is similar to 2015's Blood of My Blood.
But unfortunately the rhythm of the film is still not tight enough, and the useless time between segments is too long. If you just want to listen to music and watch the scenery, then this one is for you. Otherwise as a story it's a bit less readable. The lack of suspense makes me lose my patience.
Ghosts of War (2020)
The idea is really good
The idea is really good, the whole film transitions between war-horror-sci-fi. But as others have commented, there are some problems in the second half. I think it should either end early or extend the time to increase the turnaround. Maybe the director should consider doing another episode to complete the whole storyline.
Also I would like to say that the soundtrack of this film is extremely delicate. The system ding-dong sound that appeared many times in the first half was mixed with the background music of horror movie style. It gave me a strange and doubtful feeling until the third stage of the plot. The scene and music match quite well. It's a pity that the CG of the third storyline is a little rough. If it continues back to the first storyline and ends properly, I think I can ignore this.
American Horror Stories: Milkmaids (2022)
Weirdest plot ever.
If this episode was marked as horror porn, I think I'd give it 7stars. Because it's really disgusting and disgusting. Full of irrationality, no reason, no explanation. Too much so that I feel like the writers are just laughing at like, "Hey you idiots thought I wrote a normal story? Hahahaha idiots"
Blaming men for everything is just as wrong as blaming women for everything. I don't think this should be called American Horror Stories, it should be called Sex Horror Stories. Because in the end I found out that all the stories this season had a tragic ending ALL because of sex issues.
I'm just so disappointed by this. There really should be a shining tag for any viewer who doesn't want to waste 45 minutes of their life.
