Le fils (2002)
Artistic in many ways, boring in all ways
Being from Belgium myself, I felt obligated to see this film (because it has won a price and everything). I expected it to be artistic, deep and moving. It was artistic, alright: the camera following Olivier the whole time, the silent scenes, the scenes where Olivier and Francis have casual conversations about wood and stuff...
I like to think I can appreciate art like that, but I guess I can't, because I was wishing the film would end after only half an hour. Of course, I finished watching it, as I didn't want to give up after half an hour of torture. Perhaps I couldn't enjoy "Le Fils" because I've been influenced too much by Hollywood films... I don't know.
Anyway, if you like artistic films like this, I'm sure you'll like it. But don't expect it to be exciting, funny or entertaining, if you're into another kind of film.
If These Walls Could Talk (1996)
It was extremely interesting
Great movie, although it rather is a documentary... The abortion-scandal is well displayed and the director, producers and the cast can be proud of their work. The last story (with Cher) is based on real documentary-footage, so the things the anti-abortion-club does and the things these people say, were really done and said. A movie you MUST see if you are at all interested in the abortion-case.
My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988)
Could not be worse
I don't feel very good about saying this but: this movie really sucks! I like Alyson Hannigan very much (Buffy rules) so I wanted to see this movie where she plays Jessie; big mistake. After I saw the movie I could not believe that such a talented actress can be in such a movie! Don't see it, don't waste your time, unless you want to laugh with a very bad movie.
